A quick messy braided hairstyle

Since I’m off today, I didn’t wash my hair. There was no point in putting effort into it when I was just going to be cleaning the house, cleaning out the car, cooking a bit, and going to the gym. Plus I try to give my hair a break every once in awhile. :)

So, I saw this tutorial on Pinterest for a french braid on one side, but it was left down. I just gathered mine up in a mess, wrapped a clear rubber band around it twice and pulled a few hairs loose in front.

super quick, super easy, but a little bit more interesting than just a ponytail!

Thanks for all of your tutorials :)
What are your tips on washing/not washing your hair? I have always had better success with my hair when I wash it at night & style it in the morning (my hair is fine, non-permanent colored dark brown, and naturally wavy/curly but very easy to straighten). When I wear my hair curly it often looks better the next day (dirty) & when I wear it straight it looks great on day 2 in the morning, but is often quite oily by noon, or earlier. Love to have your thoughts.

Dry shampoo is gods gift to oily haired girls. You can get it sallys, walmart or ulta. you just spray it in and brush it out. Its amazing

Sj: I think it’s different for each person. If you are able to go a few days without washing, great! If you have to wash everyday, just use a good conditioner and good products to keep your hair soft and healthy!

How do you get that volume? I can never seem to figure it out, other than teasing like crazy, but after all my teasing it just looks like a birds nest. Any suggestions on products to use? A how-to video would be great :)

I just did this for church and I liked it so much I did it again on Monday for work. :) got tons of compliments. The only thing I did different. is I braided it the night before which made it slightly wavy.

I’d also like a video on this, when you have time. I can’t figure out what to do with the braid while you’re gathering the rest of your hair into a bun.

I’m a work at home mom and am getting sick of the plain old pony tail so I love this idea!! Something to spruce it up a little :) My hair is super straight though and lays really flat on my head, how do you get a little body to it?

Thank you for recommending the clear Goody hair elastics! I figured my hair was way too long/thick for these, but I had a gift card and decided to pick some up anyway…if it won’t work with a ponytail/bun, I can use it to tie off a braid. I was pleasantly surprised! They work great and have awesome hold, even for long and tick hair! Thanks Kate! : )
