A Smooth and Silky Blowout with a Simple Half Updo

freshinthirteen

I’m in a new season of many more showers as I’m working out about 5 days a week that mandates I shower immediately afterwards.

It’s quite sweaty.

Thus, #freshinfifteen videos may start to include super fast blow dry’s or something else I can come up with that can be done really fast!

If you are new to this series, #freshinfifteen is when I try to pull myself together a little bit to look a bit more fresh in under fifteen minutes! You can watch any of my other videos here!

Products used: Living Proof Dry Shampoo, Ponds Original Wet Cleansing Wipe, Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve with Super 7 Complex, Mac Paintpot in Soft Ochre, Tartlette Tease Palette (First Kiss & Whisper), Tarte So Fine eyeliner, Pixi Endless Brow gel pencil, Sonia Kashuk lash curler, Benefit Roller Lash mascara, It Cosmetics CC+ in light, Make Up For Ever Full Cover concealer, Benefit Hoola bronzer, Tarte Amazonian Clay blush, Hourglass Arch eyebrow pencil, Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara

Loved the video, Bu it left me wondering…what color is on your nails?? ?
Also what do you use on your brows? You didn’t mention it during application. Thanks!

The nail color looks like Essie California Coral

I also wondered about the nail colour! I love it. I noticed in the previous posts too, but no mention, unless I missed it.

Can’t wait to watch this video. This series is fantastic. I love all of your helpful advice whether it is hair, make up or parenthood! You’re one talented lady:)

Can j just say that I like your videos WAY better when you are actually talking while doing something va narrating after the fact? They seem more personal and just not as formal which is why I started watching you in the first place! It’s like you are my friend showing me cook stuff not some professional. (Even though you are). Just my 2 cents 🙂

I like to do a mix of both! The voice over videos are shorter and more concise, and I like to offer those to readers who don’t want to sit for 15 minutes!

Do you mind sharing what brand of lash fibers you use?? Thanks!!

I love this video! I am always looking for ways to cut down my morning routine as well. Nicely done – I’m going to try this tomorrow morning! I also have a question about your curls. I’ve heard / seen to brush through your curls after they set, or immediately after like you do here but mine are done-zo if I do that. Do you think that has to do with the temp of my curling iron (as hot as it will go but it’s quite old) or it is just a hair texture thing? Mine isn’t fine per se, but it’s not super thick either. Just normal ha. I do the whole dry shampoo thing just like you but should I be adding something else? Any advice you have would be amazing! XOXO

What under-eye product and bronzer did you use? I really struggle with dark circles as well as not looking so pale after applying my foundation and your products looked so great! I’d love to give them a try!

You used to recommend a Stila Smudgestick for lining the undereye and I loved that product. They don’t carry that anymore (at least where I live) – do you have any other products you would recommend that would be similar?

I’ve really enjoyed Pixi liners! You can find them at Target!

So, I have to shower and wash my hair after a workout, too. Have you figured out a way to quicken that process? It’s so time consuming!!

Reply
Jennifer says · 06.05.16

Please, please hair tutorials for those of us with long hair who shower every morning! I also do boot camps or run most days of the week and need a way to have cute hair without always needing to do a full blow dry and curl.

Reply
Cynthia says · 06.06.16

I run 6 days a week and I will only wash my hair every other day because I just hate dealing with wet hair… Sometimes, I even go a third day because I’m just that lazy.

I let my sweaty hair air dry and then add life to it with dry shampoo (I use Batiste, it’s inexpensive and smells terrific, and they make one for my dark hair!) on my roots. I shake my hair around a bit and use a blowdryer to finish it off. It takes about 5 minutes, not including the air drying.

Another favourite product of mine is a sea salt spray (I use Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturing Sea Salt Spray because it’s also inexpensive, works like a charm and smells a bit like coconut). I spray it on my sweaty hair and scrunch it while it’s air drying. It literally looks like I stepped out of the ocean, and I love ocean salty hair. It’s not exactly a “pulled together” kind of look though, it’s super casual.

When I had really long hair, I would use the dry shampoo and put my hair into a top bun with a claw hair clip (it leaves no crimping marks in your hair). It would air dry and when I took it out, I would have long soft waves.

Buzzfeed has quite a few lists of hair hacks for lazy girls, a lot of them are really pretty too.

I agree – a video tutorial for what to do with wet or damp hair after the gym would be fantastic! As well as hair products to use with wet hair if I’m not going to blow dry it that day!

Kate you are so stinkin beautiful! I absolutely love your blog/snapchat/periscope…and so on lol, but especially your snapchat! Lol I love hearing all about your days and your boys are so cute and funny to watch. I love how your makeup always looks so natural, not caked and baked on every single day because who has time for that? Lol this video was very awesome and helpful, I love my sleep so when I have to get ready early, the longer I can sleep the better! 😉 lol STAY AWESOME!!

I’m not sure if this is just an illusion, but is the barrel of the T3 curling iron’s a bit longer than standard irons? I have thicker, hard-to-hold-curl hair and although I do fine with a Jose Eber or NuMe wand, a longer barrel would prob do some small miracles for me. Let me know and congrats on the 13 min – that is IMPRESSIVE 🙂

What is your favorite dry shampoo? I have tried several and they end up making my hair either too dry or too greasy.

You make curling hair look so easy. I have a hard time using a curling iron, I wonder if its because I’m a lefty. Do you have any tips. My hair stylist told me to hold the barrel behind and wrap the hair from behind without the clamp, but its confusing. Please share some tips! I have a 1.25 inch hot tools and medium long hair.

Thanks
