I’ve been waffling on whether or not to buy my boys (ages 7 and 8) a kid’s kindle but I think this year may be the year. My eldest is very into reading, and I genuinely believe he would enjoy being able to read in bed on the kindle since it has a backlight.

Beyond that, I’ve been focusing on what gifts Justin and I could give the kids that would be something they use for a long time. Of course, they each have individual interests and likes, but things like games, outdoor toys, or blankets for forts are the kinds of gifts they would get a lot of use out of!

Justin bought the boys Loog Guitars a few years ago and they still play them. It’s a great first guitar for a child who expresses an interest in playing. Justin plays guitar and has repeatedly said that these guitars are perfectly designed for kids.

Virtual Ping Pong looks fun, adding this to my kids’ lists. Something to think about for the Kindle. My kids have a Kids Kindle and if I was to do it over again, I would just get them a regular Kindle Paperwhite. Kids Kindle is good if you get the Amazon Kids subscription and find books on there for them to read. My kids didn’t find enough there so we started getting them from the library and the Kindle cannot be in Kid’s mode when reading a library book. So you have to switch modes.

Hello
Could you recommend a “kid Friendly” drone for 9 year old?

I struggle with kid gifts (other than buying for my own kid) and really appreciate this list! Thank you.

My kiddo loves imaginary/sensory play and someone gifted her a set of brightly colored silk scarves that have stood the test of time and aging. They were great for sensory play when my kid was really little. Now she loves playing superhero and dress up with them. And they’re great for fort/tent building. I gift the ones from Sarah’s Silks – they double as pretty wrapping for gifts and they’re on sale right now.

FWIW 19 & 20 are reversed in the design and description above.
