Beauty Products that Fell Flat for Me

One of my family’s favorite things to do when we visit Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina is called “Porchin'”. It involves homemade lemonade and freshly baked cookies. The sips and snacks are set up on the porch, and it’s a time to take a break before the evening festivities kick-off.

We’ve made that a bit of a routine at my parent’s house now as well, thanks to their new front porch swing and a spiked lemonade that my mom made after being inspired by one she had at a local restaurant.

The inspiration came from the drink called Old Town Lemonade at Local Pie in downtown Bluffton. She enjoyed it so much, that she decided to try to make her own.

We call them “old towns” at my parent’s house, but I’m calling them Bluffton Lemonade’s here since it’s her own version of this drink!

Bluffton Lemonade

*We always make these one at a time, so this recipe is for one.

1-2 Strawberries

1-2 shots Lemon Vodka (I used Deep Eddy)

1C (8 oz) Lemonade (I love Simply Lemonade)

1/4 can of Sprite or Club Soda

Start by muddling the strawberries in the bottom of the glass. If you don’t have a muddler, anything you can use to press and break down the fruit will work. Add the desired amount of lemon vodka (we use 1.5-2.5 shots), lemonade, and Sprite. We generally just eyeball the lemonade and Sprite amounts, but it’s more lemonade than sprite. Top with ice and stir!

Have you ever tried it with blueberries or peach? My hubby is allergic to strawberries, but I would love to know if it works with other fruit.
