Bright Blush (and how to pick a lipstick to match)

I love blush so much. I remember hearing that Reese Witherspoon likes a heavy-handed blush application and I thought, “that is exactly what I like too”. There are days I’ll skip a LOT of steps of my makeup, but I never skip blush.

You may know already that I have loved the Patrick Ta Major Beauty Headlines Double-Take Creme and Powder Blush in She’s That Girl. The instant I got my hands on it from Sephora, I knew it would be a regular part of my rotation. I loved it so much I bought a backup version because it was starting to sell out regularly. Then a blush palette was released with a few stunning, bright, vibrant blush shades and I had a lot of fun playing with that.

Is it completely practical? Not really, but it was fun for a beauty lover like me. So, when I saw the shade extension of the Patrick Ta Major Beauty Headlines Double-Take Creme and Powder Blush being expanded to include the shades in the palette, I knew I would scoop those up as well to demo them for you.

They are unbelievably pigmented, and that is a lot coming from a person who is often heavy-handed with blush. I’m *still* working on my original blush compact in “She’s That Girl” and have a long way left in it, so these blushes last a very, very long time.

I have an older blush brush from Sephora that I’m using here, but a similar option is the Sephora PRO Blush Brush #99.

You’ve got options too, which is something I always like to have with my makeup products. You can apply powder first and finish with cream, or you can do the inverse of that and apply the cream first and “set” it with powder. You can just use the cream (which I do often), or just use the powder. It’s the only blush you need, and let me show you the two additional colors I’ve added to my rotation.

First new shade up, “She’s Vibrant“. This screams summer. I can already picture a makeup look of bronzed eyes, watermelon/coral lips, bright coral nails, and this blush on my cheeks. It’s truly beautiful on the skin and would be absolutely stunning on darker skin colors. I paired it with the YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Sheer Matte in 111.

Next up, “She’s A Doll“. This blush shade is so fresh and bright, it feels youthful just looking at it. It’s on the cooler side, which tends to look best on my skin undertone, and I have a lot of cool pink lipsticks to coordinate with it as well. It coordinates so nicely with Tom Ford Lip Color Lipstick in Pink Charade. One of my favorites!

Since I want the blush to be the focal point of my makeup, I always lean toward to natural, radiant finish foundation, and the Nars Light Reflecting Advanced Skincare Foundation is a really nice option for that look. It blurs imperfections and works all day long with skin-loving ingredients to improve your skin while you’re wearing it. It’s buildable, which is something I love in foundation (because: versatility!) and it wears flawlessly all day long.

If you’re feeling a little bored with your routine or feeling like your skin is dull from a hard winter, a bright, vibrant blush and a light-reflecting foundation are just the things you need to feel fresh and alive.

If you were only going to pick one color, would you go with She’s That Girl or She’s a Doll? I’m going to treat myself to one but I can’t decide which! I have a similar complexion to you, maybe a tiny bit lighter (my NARS concealer color is Affogato if that helps!).
