Cream Eyeshadow Favorites (+ color recs!)

I’ve been a cream eyeshadow user for years, and, in my opinion, cream eyeshadow is far superior to using powder eyeshadow. Not only is it easier to blend, but it also delivers a nice, even finish to the eye making the whole makeup process faster.

I typically use a crayon or stick shadow, but I’ve also used some liquid versions that are gorgeous on the eye. The longevity is remarkable, and even as a makeup lover I must admit that the ease of eliminating the step of eyeshadow primer by just using cream shadow makes me very happy.

There are two brands that I use very regularly (Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown), but I wanted to do a round-up of a few recommendations and color choices in case you’re in the market!

Sephora Collection Sheer Liquid Eyeshadow in shade Agate – This is what I’m wearing in the above photo. It’s a shimmery bronze/taupe and definitely leans on the more sheer end versus a strong impact of color. It’s extremely easy to blend in with a brush too!

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Shadow in Au Naturel – This color makes my blue eyes pop and is my most worn color of cream shadow by far. It’s perfect on its own, and also improves with a touch of mocha-colored shadow at the crease as well.

Bobbi Brown Long-wear Cream Shadow Stick in Nude Beach – a bump down in color and depth compared to Au Naturel by Laura Mercier, but a perfect wash of “warm taupe” color to the lids. I usually skip crease color with this shade because it has enough impact on its own!

Revlon Colorstay Creme Eyeshadow in Caramel – a beautiful shimmery bronze shade that is perfect on its own.

Tarte Quick Stick Waterproof shadow and liner in Taupe Luster + Black Liner – I’m surprised these aren’t getting more hype because they’re great! I love that it’s a shadow on one side, liner on the other. The impact from the shadow is intense, in a great way. I’m curious to try more colors!

Nudestix Nude Metallics for Eyes trio – this is a great intro kit to cream shadow because you’ll get a nice variety of colors. I love “Nudity” from this brand and find these to apply and wear beautifully. They require a pencil sharpener, though.

P.S. If you enjoyed this post, you may want to watch me demonstrate how to apply cream eyeshadow in this video!

I’m a minimal makeup kinda girl, so cream eyeshadow sounds appealing. I would just do one color on my lid and go. Have you done a post with recommendations for eyeshadow colors for different eye colors? Mine are green and I think the neutral ones you’ve listed here would work for me too, right?
