This time of year is kind of an in-between time for nail color shades. It’s still warm outside but I’m totally over the corals and pinks from the summertime. The idea of grey or dark nails, though, doesn’t feel right either! So a safe nude, cream or even subtle purple shade is what I lean to in this season!

The perk of using a neutral nail polish is that chips won’t show up as easily! If you need some tips for doing home manicures, read this post!

Of the bunch I rounded up above, my most favorite is Essie’s Gel Couture in Last Nightie. It has the softest shimmer and a barely-there color pay off!

What color are you most likely to wear at this time of the year?

Using gel polish, even Essie, makes my nails split SO badly. It takes months to recover. Do you have any suggestions to help with this issue?

Do you buy nail polish online or do you test in person first?

I usually like to see it in person first!

I’ve found that we tend to gravitate towards the same essie colors over the years — I’m always wearing a gray/mauve neutral. I just tried Olive & June polish for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised with how long the wear was and loved the good selection of gray/beige neutrals. Would love to see a post comparing different brands of polish (and what to look for in consistency, wear, top coats, etc.).

I just had my first no chip manicure 3 weeks ago. Loved it! These colors would not show the new growth as much. Are any of these no chip colors?

Just tried Essie “Galavanting” today – a super nice cranberry colour for fall as I live in Canada and it is definitely fall here ! But I wore Essie “Matter of Fiction” all summer – a beautiful light pink colour.

These are beautiful! Check out Ladylike by Essie. This is a beautiful neutral that does not look washed out my pale skin.
