3 Tips for Hosting a Party

Holiday party season is in full swing and I always look forward to this time of year. My mom loves to host parties and she truly set the bar incredibly high on how to be a wonderful host. I loved watching and learning from her while I was growing up.

ALDI is one of my favorite places to shop and their selection of party-ready food options is fantastic around the holidays. The other day I popped in for wine and left with about 10 extra items that I wasn’t planning on buying. I couldn’t pass them up!

First, have a bottle of wine already opened before guests arrive and have your glass poured. It sends a casual and welcoming message instead of making the guest uncomfortable by asking to open up a bottle just for them. My longtime favorite wine from ALDI is the Broken Clouds Pinot Noir but I branched out and got the Peaks & Tides Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the award-winning William Wright Chardonnay. I’m on a bit of a Chardonnay kick right now and really liked this wine!

My second tip is to place cocktail napkins in areas where people may sit so they are available in case they need them. This is a clue for guests to see where they can settle in too! I always try to think of where the best place will be for people to congregate that is NOT in the kitchen. People tend to huddle around food, so if the food is in the kitchen, people will be there too! I try to set up the food on a sideboard in the room where there is a good amount of seating, with a coffee table or side tables nearby for people to set their food or drinks on.

Lastly, provide a mix of sweet and savory foods, and have plenty of items that you can simply eat with your fingers. Nothing is harder than trying to cut food on a paper plate that you are holding, so appetizers and snacks that you can simply add to your plate and pop in your mouth are easy crowd-pleasers.

The Appetitos Spinach and Artichoke Dip was amazing. It comes frozen so all you need to do is microwave it. It couldn’t be easier and it was seriously delicious.

ALDI will have more appetizers for the holidays available after 12/19!

Between the award winning wines for under $10 and the seemingly endless options of chocolates, caramels, sweet nuts, and other treats, ALDI is my go-to for prepping for a holiday party.

I love the appetiser table you’ve put together! So inspiring! I’m actually hosting Christmas dinner for the first time ever, so I’m trying to learn all that I can before the big day! 🙂

If you haven’t tried the $2.89 Winking Owl Pinot Grigio from Aldi then you are MISSING OUT. Seriously. I wasn’t as impressed with the Chardonnay but the Pinot Grigio is so good!

Love all the vino suggestions. And the edibles look yummy. Even your holiday décor is festive and fun! Where is the snow globe garland from? Aldi also? Wishing you and your family a happy holiday!

Unfortunately our Aldi’s does not carry wine….yet! I love shopping there. Thanks for all of the great tips. I never thought about opening wine ahead of time and having a glass in hand to greet my guests.

Wish we had an Aldi in Denver. Maybe someday.

My new favorite tip for party hosting is to have a big container of waters available for my guests. I like to buy those cute little cans of Perrier. It really helps keep guests from getting too tipsy.

I agree! We just hosted a Christmas party -and found everything we needed-AT ALDI….from Mulled Wine (made with the 3$ Winking Owl Cab. Sav) to the cranberry goat cheese. Everything was perfect-for munchies for the hungry teenagers-to the GF/Keto/Paleo Adults!
