Automating One of the Most Forgotten Parts of Your Home

Setting Powders: What they can do and a few that I love

This post is sponsored by FilterEasy. Click here to sign up

The more children I have, the more I try to automate as many things as humanly possible.

In fact, my family and I will frequently sit around and brainstorm ideas for businesses that can automate different things, from gassing up your car to removing excess recycling that won’t fit into your recycling bin.

And recently Justin told me that he saw an ad for an automated air filter delivery service and he thought it was such a great idea. And I did too! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sent that man to a the store to get a few things, air filters being one of them, and he returns empty handed because he either forgot to grab them or was in the aisle and didn’t know what sizes to get!

And that doesn’t happen just to him, the same thing happened to me.

But we will no longer have to waste time and effort on something that could so easily be automated thanks to FilterEasy. I realize that this may seem like a slight departure from my typical content but it ranks high on my list of things I need to tell you about to help make your life a bit easier like it has for me.

FilterEasy ships new, USA-made air filters directly to your home based on the size and amount you need on a frequency you choose (1, 2, or 3 month increments). Plus, shipping is free! I was so happy to partner with FilterEasy because it took another thing off my to do list and I hope it’ll do the same for you!

Changing out your air filters on a regular basis not only makes your HVAC system work better, but it means that the filters themselves will do a better job at trapping allergens and other things in the air to keep your home cleaner. I’m pretty horrified at how dusty our filters were when we shot these photos but, like I said, changing these was always the forgotten or neglected task!

If you sign up for FilterEasy by clicking this link, you’ll get your first round of filters for free! And I’m telling you, as soon as that shipment shows up I hope you’ll appreciate how nice it is to automate an important task to do in your home!

…I don’t even want to check the air filters at my current place! I’m sure it’s horrid and in no way healthy, haha, especially since I live in a rental home! Filtereasy sounds like a great service, I can see it helping a lot of people out!

We have been using Filter Easy for about two years now, it’s a great service.
It is so easy to forget to change those things, but having the service doesn’t allow us to forget.

Wow…maybe I’m the only one, but I don’t think remembering when and what size air filters to order is that hard… I understand the need for sponsored posts. This blog is your bread and butter; I get it. But air filters?? On a beauty/lifestyle blog?? It comes across as extremely thirsty, disingenuous and frankly a bit lazy, like you’ll accept any sponsored post to make a buck. At least keep the sponsored posts related to your normal blog content.
This is just my two cents; honest feedback from your readers, even negative feedback, should be valued. So please, other followers, let’s refrain from mean and bullying comments in response to my feedback.

I agree with this comment. Not content that fits this blog, IMO. Make-up, fashion, health, family, kids, yes! Air filters though?! Disingenuous would be the right word.

Agree.

I realize it’s a bit out of the norm but I geniunely think its a great idea and helps make my life as a busy working mom easier. I was glad to have the opportunity to share with followers in the hopes that it could help take someone off their to do list as well.
I often share tips and things I do in my life that could be helpful for someone else (like making a few lunches at the beginning of the week to have ready to go for a few days, etc) and this fell into that category for me!
So yes, it’s a bit different from what you typically see from me, but I don’t appreciate being called lazy or “thirsty”. There is a way to leave a constructive comment without stooping to a level of name calling.

I agree with you Kate, it is a lifestyle blog as well!

I agree with you Kate, it is a lifestyle blog as well! That’s pretty mean calling you lazy and thirsty!😡

Would you have shared this tip if they didn’t sponsor it?

Reply
Kate says · 11.07.18

of course. In fact Justin was the first one to hear about this company and told me about it. So when they reached out we were game to jump on board. The timing was surprisingly perfect.

Awesome! Glad it worked out well for you! Thanks for sharing.

Katharine says · 11.07.18

To clarify, I didn’t call you lazy or thirsty. I didn’t “stoop to the level of name calling.” I genuinely don’t think you are. What I said was, it comes across that way. I would think you’d want to know if it was coming across in a less than favorable way, especially considering it doesn’t appear that I was the only one who thought so. As the commenter below stated, as a small business owner this is valuable and honest feedback.

She has thousands of followers. Not every ad is going to appeal to every follower. Let us not complain about free content.

Honest feedback is a gift to a small business owner. Most people say nothing and leave. As hard as it is to hear, listening is always a good idea.
Love your blog.
All the best.

The feedback crossed the line into criticism of Kate’s character; it wasn’t about her business. She was called lazy and thirsty. It was out of line, unhelpful, and unnecessary.

Anita says · 11.07.18

This business is Kate, without her there is no business, if you see what I am saying. So even though it seems personal, it isn’t.

Who doesn’t love Kate she is utterly charming and adorable and helps us all look our best! What’s not to love?!

Julie Fluegel says · 11.08.18

Completely agree. Love to hear people name call only and then have to “clarify” how their name calling was not name calling.
“It comes across as extremely thirsty, disingenuous and frankly a bit lazy, like you’ll accept any sponsored post to make a buck. That is a personal attack. Completely out of line.

Here is an easy way to remember the size of the air filters you need- create a note on your iPhone with the sizes and quantities. Both my husband and I have done this. Now we never forget! Easy peasy.

I laughed out loud at the diagram of Ron Livingston showing you how to install the filter! 😉

Always a good thing if you can get something of your to do list, especially when it has to be done regularly. I wish I could automate my husband’s to do list like these filters!

We have been using this service for over a year. It is one of the best things we’ve done, ranking high with Amazon Subscribe and Save!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Reply
Kate says · 11.07.18

Yes I love subscribe and save, as well as the Amazon Dash buttons! Anything to streamline my to do list is a win for me.

I enjoy your posts on Amazon since I am using Prime but hardly use it to its potential. Do you have a blog post on dash buttons and how they work and if they are worth it or not?
Also Thanks for sharing this blog I had no idea there was a service like this out there.

This is a great idea for busy families!
However I can’t wrap my head around why your HVAC filter is on the side of your kitchen cabinet? Why isn’t the filter inside (or on the side) of your unit that is usually in the basement or for homes without a basement, in a hall closet?

Kate says · 11.07.18

When we renovated this space we had to move it and that seemed like the best place given our very limited options. I kind of regret it, but we’re used to it!

Judy Cadh says · 11.07.18

Units have one too but the air intake is usually in a central location. Ours is on a wall in our den and then on the same wall, opposite side in the stairway. Go figure!

It’s a great idea. We could never remember what size to buy!! I buy mine now in boxes of 6 off Amazon by Filtrete. They also offer an email/text service that send me an email telling me how much filter “useage” I have left. I’m down to 9%. Time to change them!!

Reply
Sabina says · 11.07.18

seriously?
when we bought our house, we wrote down the diff sizes ( three of them) and taped it to our furnace. I snapped a photo of it and marked it as favorite.

go to Home depot or lowes ( or order off amazon) in January and get the whole years worth. Guaranteed WAY cheaper

Sorry about the other rude comments. I for one was just thinking the other day…i need to google air filter subscription service!! NO joke! And here is you’re post! I’m definitely signing up ;). Do u listen to the Lazy Genius s podcast? I feel like this is definitely “lazy genius-ing” air filter replacement for sure. We always forget to change ours or forget the size at the store so this is awesome!! GLad u shared 😉

Rachael says · 11.07.18

I just saved the size in my phone (after living in my house for a while its memorized now) and buy them in bulk. Then I randomly check the filter from time to time. It’s simple, easy and probably cheaper!
