The Snack Packer
I promise that if you were to ask Justin what I always make sure to have with me on road trips or flights, he would tell you that I always pack snacks.
From as long as I can remember, I’ve found comfort in having a little snack with me whenever I’m getting into a situation where I’m not sure what the food situation is going to be like. I get jittery when I drink coffee on an empty stomach, and would always rather snack on a granola bar instead of picking up fast food if I were suddenly hit with hunger.
Naturally, this tendency only became more necessary with kids. We are always on the go, and I always have snacks with me! Honestly, it’s not unusual for me to throw a few snacks in my purse when I go out with the boys these days. We are pretty much beyond the need of carrying a diaper bag everywhere, so as long as I have the very basics with me I feel good.
The boys have been eating GoGo squeeZ® applesauce pouches for years. I buy them in bulk, and we’ve tried a few of the different flavors they offer (like AppleCinnamon and AppleStrawberry); yet the classic AppleApple flavor is the most preferred!
We spent about 17 days in Wisconsin in July, celebrating the 4th of July and my sister’s wedding. It was jam-packed with lots of fun activities, and Justin and I really enjoyed letting the boys run wild around my parent’s lake house neighborhood. I have fond memories from summertime in Wisconsin, and I love that the boys were able to spend so much consecutive time here!
Justin and I took them over to a nearby park to play a few times, and we had a quick little snack while we were there.
And if these aren’t the faces of “h-angry” children, I don’t know what are:

Pretzels, string cheese and cherry tomatoes.
I have to try squeeze pouches with my 2 year old, especially with a newborn in tow, too!
For my daughter, a favorite healthy snack is yogurt when we’re at home, and a granola bar when we’re on the go. For me, fresh fruit or veggies are best…I’ve been hooked on cutting up watermelon or pineapple lately, and baby carrots are just so easy to take along!
Great contest! I hope I get some ideas from other posters!
My son Loves freeze dried fruit. Especially the freeze dried strawberries. I find them at aldi! I try to always have a little bag packed with us too.
I love fruit and granola bars!
I love almonds or an Rx bar for on the go for me. My kids love the old standby of goldfish!
Our favorite healthy snacks are Larabars and smoothies. I’ve always been a sucker for grab-n-go and they both fit the bill perfectly.
Kate this statement really resonated with me – “My kids are picky, and I haven’t done the best job about making them try new things” I feel exactly the same! My three year old is super picky and I definitely feel it’s entirely my fault. That being said – she does eat these Go-Go Squeeze applesauce pouches too!
I just discovered kids RX bars, and I love them for myself! Sometimes a regular one is just too much snack, so I love having a little one for a few delicious bites! Plus, they have different flavors in the kids size.
We love fruit smoothies with spinach!
Almonds, walnuts, and pepitas for me. Squeeze pouches and string cheese for my girls. Of course, they always want some of what I have too 🙂
My favorite healthy snack would have to be fresh, crisp sweet apples! I love fuji apples!

Fresh fruit is my go to, but Skinny Pop is another favorite!
I love banana chips!
I love bananas and so does my son.
My 2 year old grandson loves black olives. They are easy to pick up, inexpensive and very healthy. I just put them in a snack size baggie and away we go.
My favorite healthy snack is grapes! They’re especially good on hot summer days!
Salted caramel Luna protein bars if I am craving sweet, or homemade trail mix with a variety of nuts, dried fruit, dark chocolate chips, and sometimes a little SkinnyPop for salty. 🙂
Banana carrot zucchini muffins! My little guy loves them and doesn’t realize he’s getting a ton of veggies in 🙂

My favorite snack right now would have to be dried Medjool dates with crispy walnuts!

My kiddos love Gogo’s and the little olive cups. Given a choice these are always the first two snacks they pick.

i make a homemade snack mix using corn cereal, wheat cereal, rice cereal, bugles, cheddar rockets from trader joe’s and honey roasted peanuts, topped with a buttery seasoning. the kids love it, i know exactly what went in, and it is something we can make together using a microwave. i love to make little trail mix (gorp) blends too with dried fruits, nuts, crackers, cereals, etc. since my daughter had braces put on, we’ve had to be careful about hard, really crunchy snacks. [she picks out the peanuts and gives them to her dad and brother]
Aldi Simply Nature Strawberry Fruit Strips are my go to for my two boys 2 and 4.
These are good for adults too. They are a little pricey but I guess you pay for convenience.
My favorite healthy snack is unsalted cashews, a spoonful of peanut butter or an apple.
My family’s favorite snack is string cheese (or “cheese sticks” as my boys call them!). It’s a good dose of protein and super easy to eat even for little ones.
For me, it would have to be raw nuts, filberts, walnuts or almonds along with a packet of string cheese. Oh and this time of year, that would be delicious with a big, juicy fresh peach!
Hard-boiled eggs are my favorite snack; while they do require refrigeration, the protein keeps me going!
My favorite healthy snack lately has been pumpkin seeds. I am allergic to nuts so this is the same type of crunch and bit of protein nuts provide. I really enjoy your blog!

All kinds of fruit, especially kiwi, peaches, grapes & bananas.
We carry similar pouches (fruit and veggie with a few healthy grains and yogurt mixed in some,) everywhere. And I mean everywhere. My kids are 4, 3, and 1, and I don’t know how I’d make it a week without dozens of pouches. Aldi has them the cheapest. We also use cheese sticks and nuts for the older 2.
