Don’t pack the summer dresses away yet. . .

My favorite mid-day drink: homemade iced latte

Casual day dresses are the only way to stay cool during the heat of the summer, but I hate only getting to wear them for one season!

Well, the summer season is roughly May-October so I get a good bit of wear out of them, but I always like to change them up a bit come the fall months.

I found this great blue dress at Nordstrom and I knew I would wear it a lot. It has a high/low hem, a high enough neckline that let’s me play with the kids without feeling exposed, and while it’s relatively straight up and down in shape, it doesn’t feel like a shapeless “paper bag” dress.

I’m sharing two ways to style it today, and don’t doubt that I’ll try and make it work in the wintertime as well with tights and knee high boots too!

The easiest way to add a little extra to a simple dress is with a belt. This is my favorite thing to do in the summertime because it doesn’t require that I add another layer of warmth. Even a vest can feel hot over a dress in the summer, but a belt is like nothing. I chose these ankle booties because I’m so excited to start wearing them again, but sandals like these would be really cute as well!

For a cooler day, and perhaps something a little bit more “weekend”, grab a jean jacket and some slide on sneakers.

I swapped out jewelry for just a simple watch to keep the whole look really simple. I love the dress with sneakers look, and these slide on sneakers from Nordstrom are perfect for that. They are a crisp white so they feel clean and polished, but still casual.

I was clicking around the Nordstrom website and found a few other really easy to wear dresses that I’ll link down below!

Love the dress and the different ways you wear it! I’m still not used to booties with a dress but it looks so cute on you I’m going to give it a try.

It looks good coupled with a denim jacket but what around the house? I wouldn’t wear a denim jacket while cooking dinner. I like going out ideas but I would really love to see more staying in outfits.

I would just remove the jacket inside 🙂
