Playtime with Luke

Luke is high energy like his mama. He will break out into random jumping sessions while we are playing just to burn off the extra energy he has! So naturally our favorite thing to do together is play!

The weather in North Carolina is near perfect in the late fall and winter. It’s cool enough for layers and vests, but not cold enough to keep us indoors. We use our play set the most in the fall and winter!

J.Crew Factory is one of my favorite places to shop, both in store and online, and I recently found some great play clothes for both Luke and I that are perfect for this time of year.

I can’t handle how cute little kids look in vests, and as soon as I saw this sherpa vest, I knew I had to get it for Luke. When it arrived in the mail, it was right before bedtime, so I just put it on him without a shirt on, which looked hilarious, and the fit was perfect. It also allows him to play and move, but still stay warm!

I thought this henley was so cute on it’s own, and it also pairs perfectly with his vest. And his corduroys match David’s, which may be just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!

One of my favorite things about shopping for denim with J.Crew Factory, is the choice in inseam. I wanted some jeans that hit at the ankle, so I could wear ankle boots without them gathering up, and these 28 inch inseam jeans are perfect for that. I can roll the bottom just enough that the jeans won’t sit on top of my boots. The wash is casual and flattering, and they have a nice amount of stretch so they are really comfortable to wear.

I’ll never have enough stripes in my wardrobe, and this funnel neck terry sweatshirt caught my eye when I was scrolling. And then I saw it had pockets, and into my cart it went. It’s structured but still allows me to move without being too stiff. I already have a handful of their collector tee’s in my dresser, but I’m very tempted by this one for the holidays!

I love that I can find clothes for us that look and feel good, but don’t break the bank either. And I like that I can find casual clothes like what Luke and I are wearing today, and then nicer items for dressier occasions, like David and I wore the other day.

J.Crew Factory is running a promo right now for 50% off everything (with new additions!) and free shipping if you spend over $50! And if you are gearing up for holiday shopping, you may want to browse their gift guide. Or you can just e-mail a link to it to anyone you know that is buying YOU a gift!

Luke’s Outfit: corduroys, henley, vest

Kate’s Outfit: jeans, striped sweatshirt

The clothes on Luke and me were gifted from J.Crew Factory, a store I’ve shopped at for years. This post was sponsored by J.Crew Factory.

So cute Kate! My second boy is just a little older than Luke and is super independent as well! Maybe it’s a second child thing?
I adore the outfits and I think you do a wonderful job integrating your sponsored posts while still keeping the tone about your family and style! We started our families almost at the same time (though I’m quite a bit older) and I have loved the balance your blog has of family and practical beauty and style. Keep up the good work!

You both look adorable! What size are you wearing in the striped top? Is it a relaxed fit?

Hi! I’m on the market for a play set for my little girl, who will be 2 in June. I see yours there and know you’ve posted about it before. Do you like it for the boys’ age? Do you think it will grow well with them, or do you think they’ll tire of it in a couple of years? I’m looking to invest in one that will hold interest for a good, loooong time, as the one I had as a kid kept me pretty happy on its own until we got a pool when I was ten. Are there any particular features you wish yours had that I might not think of? Anyone can weigh in on this…I’m looking for real mom advice here!

Every time you do a J Crew post, I’m so tempted to click the link, but you (and a colleague at work) have already cost me so much at Loft that I just can’t;)

Happy day!

You have such a beautiful family! I just wanted to mention that in one pic, you’re holding your son up by his hands and when my son was around his age, we did the same thing and wound up dislocating his elbow. I don’t want to sound like I’m judging, I just didn’t know that could happen and I’d hate to see it happen to other kids.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hi!

I’m noticing your play set, and would love to know how you feel it’s “growing” with your boys. I’m looking to invest in one for my little girl, who will be 2 in June. I’d love it to be something that can last a loooong time, since even the dinky one I had as a kid kept me happy on its own until I was 10, when we got a pool. Do you think it would keep them engaged for a number of years? Are there any features you wish it had that you would look into if you were to do it again? Anyone can weigh in on this…I’m looking for real mom advice here:)

I can never click on your J Crew links…you, and a colleague at work, have already cost me too much at Loft! Looking good, though! I get why people have been harping at you lately for all of the sponsored posts, but they DO expose me to things/stores that I wouldn’t have otherwise thought to look at. Thanks for that!

Happy day!

Love the striped sweatshirt – I looked for reviews to see if it runs true to size but there aren’t any reviews yet…did you size up or buy your normal size?

Love your outfits! Quick question…what size vest is Luke wearing? I have a little guy who is a few months older than Luke and is just getting into 2T size, he’s a bean pole that loves to play too! Happy Thanksgiving!

This vest is so cute and I bought it for my 2.5yo son. He REFUSES to wear it 🙁 UGHHHH. Maybe his baby sister can wear it in a few years.
