Magic Foundation

It’s magical I tell you.

While Arbonne Perfecting Liquid Foundation has been my absolute favorite for MANY years, I realize that it’s sort of a pain to get your hands on (you can order online at your will, but to sample and learn a ton more about the products it’s best to meet with a consultant).

I’ve been on a casual foundation hunt since about January, specifically looking for a medium and build-able coverage for more casual days. I read about Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation on another beauty blog and bought it right away. Charlotte Tilbury is a British makeup artist and her cosmetic line just recently (in the last year and a half) launched in the USA!

I’m wearing shade 2, which may be a touch too light for me, but I don’t mind it since I usually contour to add depth to my face anyway. It wears really nicely, doesn’t turn oily or go dry mid-day, and it’s the easiest foundation to blend in that I’ve ever worked with.

If you are looking for a new foundation to try, I highly recommend this one! I bought mine at nordstrom.com, but I know a few Nordstrom’s actually carry the product in store!

More about my hunt for the perfect foundation here and here.

Kate, have you ever used Nars foundation? I received a sample in my birch box several months ago and ended up purchasing a full-size because I loved it so much!

I love Arbonne’s foundation and I’m lucky that my BFF is a consultant. However, I recently discovered Charlotte Tilbury and have been really impressed (albeit pricey). Her lipsticks are worth a try, too!

I have been looking for a medium natural to full coverage if needed foundation for like ever and stumbled upon Tartes gel hybrid foundation while buying their Amazonian clay powder foundation ( after seeing that on your blog)…and I love it!! I like the powder foundation as well but the gel one is so natural looking and lasts forever. I hope you get to try it soon! I’d love to hear your thoughts on it

Hi Kate!

Did you buy the brush as well? If so, do you feel it is necessary to achieve success with the foundation?

Thanks! ❤️❤️

I bought the set that came with the magic team, brush and foundation. I tried the brush once and all the hairs came out all over my face; I was not impressed. I like the foundation though. Magic cream not so much.

You mention having dry skin, which I have too. I’ve been searching high and low for not only a foundation but also an everyday moisturizer with SPF (I’ve had skin cancer twice :() Any suggestions?

I second R & F! Especially for my super dry skin ❤️

I agree with Kara. Younique’s liquid foundation is light-weight, naturally-based, and goes on like a liquid then dries to a soft powder. I love it!!!

I’ve been wanting to get some honest reviews about Glossier’s new makeup and skincare lines. Have you heard anything about them yet? They look very lightweight and minimal.

I absolutely love Bare Minerals. It doesn’t look like I’m wearing foundation at all. It’s light. Has Sun block. No line of demarcation, ever!
Every time I try to switch to save a little money, I can’t. I end up not using it and staying with Bare Minerals. It also does not settle in ur wrinkles.

Do you use the powder or the new liquid?

I’ve heard so many great things about the Magic foundation! I’d definitely want to give it a try, but I’d have to order it online and I’m terrified of trying to match my shade based on swatches on the internet.. xx

I have been using Lancome Teint Miracle for a little over a year. I love it! It is the perfect amount of coverage without feeling caked on. It looks very natural to me. I also use the Lancome brush #25 to stipple it on. So worth a try!

I’ve been using nutrimedics foundations and have been finding it great. I know a lot about makeup, contouring face etc but I find it easy to apply and quick when I’ve got a toddler at my legs. I’m in Australia

Sorry I meant I don’t know a lot about makeup or how to apply it etc.

CT makeup has been one of those makeup lines I always looove reading about but have yet to pull the trigger on. I always swear by Jane Iredale bases, though I have been getting the itch to try something else… I’ll have to look into CT foundation! xo

Hi Kate, Love your you tube channel and blog postings, especially the hair tutorials. Have you ever considered trying some skincare products called Rodan and Fields. Not only do they have great skincare but they do have a awesome mineral powder with peptides. I am a consultant for them and love their products. I think you would too, let me know if your interested!

Your skin looks amazing!! I’ve been hearing a lot about CT products! I need to try some. Nordstrom carries the line I think. I can’t wait!

Kate-What is your skin type? I have combination–VERY oily but it appears very dry when I apply foundation. I have VERY red cheeks and deal with spotty acne, so full coverage sounds like a dream until I spend tons of money on a “good” product to then never wear again b/c of it’s caked-on appearance. You always look beautiful! I’d LOVE to find a concealer that covers without being dry/flaky/cakey.

This was me, and no makeup looked good, honestly. Oily, but flaky, and any makeup just ended up highlighting the flakiness. I’ve changed my skincare routine and gotten some really great results. My fave is still oily hit the redness/acne/inflammation is greatly reduced and the flakiness is gone!

I have changed as well–using Arbonne products/regimen before any makeup touches my face. This is supposed to be the “best of the best” and, while my face is a bit better, I still can’t wear anything heavy.

Do you think this foundation would cover large pores well?
