Spring Refreshers

spring refresh

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve

Despite consistently wearing neutrals, I’ve reached the point in my pregnancy where I’m excited about non-maternity clothes. Sure, I only have about 15 days to go, but I’m pretty tired of wearing the same maternity clothes over and over.

For spring, I’m interested in easy to wear, LOOSE AND FLOWY pieces that will seamlessly integrate into my wardrobe. Flats are a must. I can’t remember the last time I wore a wedge or a heel, and simple but interesting accessories will help me feel a little girly and put together.

I actually ordered those adorable striped flats from Target recently but I found them to be slightly snug. My feet are probably a bit swollen at 37 weeks pregnant, so I decided to return them and try them on again mid/late february.

What are you jonesin’ to add to your spring wardrobe?

If you breastfeed can you do a post on how do dress while nursing? I’m desperate to get out of zippo hoodies and feel cute!

Layering a cardigan and cami ( no shelf bra in it) has worked well for me. I end up wearing t-shirts most of the time. I try to avoid anything I’d have to unbutton and belts that need to be undone. Motherhood Maternity has some nice nursing tops. I also got a coupon while I was in there one day for a really nice nursing cover. It stays in place well (if the baby doesn’t kick too much) and I can see the baby.

I love that you said jonesin’! Haha!
I want to add more cute flats to my wardrobe. You always post really adorable, versatile ones!

Are you still doing that wardrobe challenge 30 vault, I think? I was just curious how that was going if you were still doing it.

Kate says · 01.28.15

heh, no. I wish I could stick with it but I failed miserably 🙂

Have you used that cheek & lip tint you posted the link to? It’s an online-only item so I was hoping for some more info on it since I can’t go try it at sephora… Was wondering how sheer it was and how long it lasts once applied. The description also says it’s scented, so I was wondering how strong of a smell it was. Thanks!

No I haven’t used it, but I’d love to try it!

Baseball tee meets dress and I am in love! What a brilliant idea. Thanks for sharing – I may have to get that one!

Ditto! Perfect description: baseball tee meets dress. Have you ordered from ShopSosie before?

I’m also dying to get some cute flats. I’m liking the pointed toe ones that bridge the gap between a dressed up look and casual. That way I can wear them with jeans and not feel frumpy. I hate the end of pregnancy. I actually called my doctor to ask if he could bump my c-section up a week for my last child, just because I couldn’t stand it anymore. Thankfully he was more level headed than me and told me no, while assuring me I wasn’t the first to ask.

Ooo those flats are lovely! I may have to order a pair now. Also love that dress, have you ordered from ShopSosie before? Prices are reasonable but wondering on quality, and does it fit true to size? Thanks again, Kate! 🙂

Love your style! I’m hoping to get some cute stacking rings this spring as well! I ordered the J Crew gold flip flops and they came in yesterday…I think I will be living in them this spring and summer 🙂

cute shoes. Fair warning though, it is pretty common to go up (and stay up) a shoe size post 2nd baby. I went up a full half size after number 2–and had to buy all new shoes. It would be a kind of fun problem to have, except it involved lots of shoe shopping with a 1 year old and infant.

Oh I didn’t know I needed that pink purse until you posted it. It’s perfect! Do you have a lot of not neutral bags in your collection? I want to buy more but I’m worried that they won’t go with anything.

Did you give up on the capsule wardrobe idea?

pretty much 🙂

LOL I’m so glad! (Me too!) I tried it….wasn’t for me. I have a hard time parting with things I have spent good money on….plus I live in Washington so I need a lot of different layers for different weather. GAH!!!

Really enjoyed your spring picks. I am definitely adding a pair of gold flats, some flowy dresses with 3/4 length sleeves in COLORS and a skirt or 2 that flows which I plan to hem off at the knee if it’s calf length because those skirts are so unflattering!

I have a quick question. I am new to foundation, basically because I have oily, acne prone skin. I have dark spots that I would like to cover, but I don’t want to cause breakouts. What would you suggest?

Thanks for your suggestions,or anyone who wants to chime in.

I’ve been using Neutrogena Skin Clearing foundation for years and I love it!

Thanks Renee. I actually bought that exact one yesterday before I read this. I did some research and thought if it didn’t work I wouldn’t be out a lot. Saying my prayers before I use it. 🙂

I found this and Evologie helpful. It’s for under eye circles but she says in the video it can be used for dark spots too.

Kate!
I have a request. My hair is severely damaged from pony tails, clear elastics, etc. I have been put on restriction by my hair stylist to not use pony tails or elastics for some time. 🙂

My request is, can you film a few tutorials that do not require elastics? And preferably no teasing. Bobby pins only! That is a nice challenge and I think several people would benefit from it 🙂

Kate! The new baby is almost here! I just wanted to say, as a reader, I will wait for you. If you post less- we get it. I think that you will find that the second baby you can enjoy more in the beginning because you have been through it before. Your life is already changed from having a child. It isn’t so hard and scary at first. Enjoy your last days with your first born!

Just ordered that dress along with a loose swingy tee from Sosie. So cute, we’ll see how they fit. I just had my 2nd baby almost 4 weeks ago now, so I’m all about loose clothes. I ordered one size up, as I’m sure I need some extra room!

wondering about the clothing quality on the Sosie website as well…lots of really cute items!
