Beauty Chat Series-week 1

next
Striped Dress: three ways

So I thought it would be fun to host a little series on my blog called “Beauty Chat”. I love talking about beauty products on the blog but even more than that, I love chatting with friends about their favorite products as well.

I’ve picked a couple people, who are also bloggers, to have a little beauty chat with. Each week someone new will be featured, and the series will continue for a few fridays this summer.

I’d love to hear from you about who you’d like me to interview too! Leave a comment below this post with any of your favorite bloggers that you’d like me to have a beauty chat with!

Today, we are starting with Cara of the blog Maskcara. Tell me you’ve been to her site before. She’s fantastic! She shares easy to follow tutorials, tips and tricks along with little snippets of her life. I particularly like her Makeover Monday posts!

Let’s dive right into it!

Kate: What is the most loved item in your make up bag?

Cara: My HAC pack for sure  because it’s always my go-to but I created it so I’m sure I’m biased! My favorite non-Maskcara item would be YSL Cool Guava Sheer Candy Lip color. It’s such a gorgeous fresh pink!

Kate: You find a $50 gift card to sephora on the street-what do you buy?

Cara: Haha, this is easy because I always seem to have at least 3 items in my virtual Sephora shopping cart AT ALL TIMES!
Right now I’m dying for Laura Mericer’s eye basics primer/base coat in Flax. It’s the prettiest soft warm pearl to wear alone or under shadow.
I’d throw in a Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm. It’s a really pretty subtle color and it smells delightful.
Then I’d get a Jumbo Liner from Sephora Collection in beige. There’s nothing like those jumbo liners for time saving eyes!
Kate: Do you have a go to hairstyle?
Cara: In the heat of summer here in the desert I’ve been sticking to the good old high bun but when I’m really wanting to look my prettiest I always go for the Twirl Curl. It’s a gorgeous curl that last for DAYS.
Kate: If you have one, what is your biggest hair regret?
Cara: Going from black to blonde in one day! I thought it was great at first but then my hair just broke off…after a few months I had only half my hair left! Word to the wise, drastic hair lightening should be done GRADUALLY!
Kate: Okay, is there a beauty trend you would like to see die?
Cara: Matte fuchsia lips. I loved them when they first became popular I feel like it’s . I’m all about glossy and vampy lips lately.
Kate: What is one makeup trick you’d like to master?
Cara: Winged liner. I can do it but it’s going to take me a LOOONG time to get it perfect!
Kate: Drugstore or high end products?
Cara: If I could only pick one I’d have to go with high end, because there are way more options and I don’t mind splurging on makeup (I’d dress in a paper bag before I stopped buying makeup!) But there are so many great buys from the drugstore as well.
Kate: What do you never leave the house without?
Cara: Pants? Haha, I leave the house without a stitch of makeup and hair done far too often! I need to work on that!
Kate: What is your favorite skin care product?
Cara: Glam Glow Hydrating Mask. It’s world altering.
Kate: Is there a hair technique you’d like to master?
Cara: French braid. I feel like amazing braids have taken over my pinterest and instagram feed and I am always gaga over how gorgeous they look…but when I do them on myself…it’s a hot mess!
Yeah, I actually highly doubt that her french braids are a hot mess, but we are our own worst critic, aren’t we?
Cara, thanks so much for the interview! And THANKS for such a helpful blog!

I’m new to your blog and enjoy it so much! You put a lot of work into teaching us simple techniques that make a big difference. I have already tried some of the “poof” buns and they came out well. I have especially enjoyed making easy changes that keeps my hair off my face as we have been experiencing an unusual stretch of humid weather.
Enjoy your Summer.
Blessings.

Kate, this is so neat to see you interview Cara. I have subscribed to your youtube channel probably a year ago, and about half a year ago found Cara. The videos and blogs from you two are mostly the only ones I’ve been looking at when it comes to makeup and hair 🙂 So this was totally cool! 🙂

God bless you both, and your families!
