One of the most common questions I’m asked when it comes to makeup selections is, “How do I find out what foundation is best for me?”
Choosing a foundation from the thousands of options on the market can feel like finding a needle in a haystack. There are so many different formulations, coverage levels, and colors. The undertones of a foundation make a huge difference in how it wears on your skin, and overall it can feel daunting to try to guess which foundation type and shade is right for you.
Sephora, per usual, is here to help. The website now has 3 very helpful online tools in order to assist you in your search for the right foundation.
First up is the Shade Finder tool. This is something you can use when you already know a shade that works well for you in a different brand. You simply select “find your shade” on the page of the new foundation you’re looking into, and it will guide you through the process of determining your best match for the new product.
Next, there is a Foundation Finder quiz. This quiz asks you questions about your skin type, what kind of coverage you’re going for, if you like a dewy or matte finish, etc. After you answer the questions (it only takes about a minute), it will show you a few different options that you may enjoy based on what you’re looking for!
Lastly, the Complexion Routine Builder quiz is a way to learn about a full-face routine that will work for you. From primer to concealer, then foundation and setting powder or spray, this quiz asks you a handful of questions to determine what routine will give you the results you want.
I took these quizzes and the results matched with some of my long-time favorite products! It really worked and I’m so excited to have these tools to direct people to when they are starting their search.
