A Strawberry Margarita Recipe

links + small things

Near the beginning of “Stay at Home”, my friend Caroline dropped off a homemade Strawberry Margarita and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it! It was sweet, without being overly sweet, and I knew I wanted to try to make one myself when strawberries came into season.

Making strawberry syrup is very simple, but there are a few methods on how to do it. For my strawberry syrup I brought 4 cups of water and 2 lbs of strawberries to a boil, and then turned it down to a simmer for 20 minutes. Afterwards, I removed and discarded the pale, colorless berries and added 2 cups of sugar to the pot, returned it to a boil, then let it simmer for 5 minutes. Caroline shared that she did that entire process in one step, so I need to try her method next. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.

My strawberry syrup was good, but not as sweet as I wanted it to be, so I ended up adding a cup of sugar to the syrup, boiled again, simmered for 5 minutes, and then left it at that.

Strawberry Margarita // serves 1 (I only ever make these individually so I do not have measurements for a pitcher at this time)

2 oz Jose Cuervo Especial Tequila

1 oz Grand Marnier Liqueur

1/4 cup homemade strawberry syrup (this can be adjusted based on your desired sweetness!)

2 oz lime juice

Mix together, pour into a glass of ice with a salted rim!

If you don’t have this citrus juicer yet, I urge you to get it! It makes squeezing lemons and limes so easy and efficient!

Enjoy!

Looks yummy! To make the simple syrup, you said you “put 4 cups and 2lbs of strawberries” , what is the 4 cups? Is it water?
Thanks!

Qué rico! Lo probaré para el fin de semana siguiente. El jarabe de fresa tiene que estar buenísimo.
Muchas gracias por la receta.

Strawberries taste delicious in margaritas, and the fresher they are the better! You really can’t go wrong with this classic.
