Vacation Beauty Favorites

I share last week that we just took a vacation to the Bahamas! You can read the recap post here.

As someone who really loves doing hair and makeup, I also love the more simple beauty routine that vacation usually demands. I’d much rather spend that extra 45 minutes outside by the pool instead of making sure my hair looks the way I want it to look.

I packed my makeup bag with my essentials for a simple makeup look that I’d feel comfortable in for daytime or evening.

My routine was: Apply plenty of moisturizer, mix a bit of sheer foundation with a glow-boosting bronzing cream, run a touch of eyeliner along my upper lash line, fill in brows, punch up the blush a bit more than usual, add highlighter to my cheekbones, forehead, and eyelids, then finish with mascara and a sheer pink lipstick.

Adding a bronzing primer into your foundation, or simply wearing it on its own is the easiest and fastest way to glow without damaging sunburn. I mixed a NARS product that I have, though it was a limited edition and is now sold out. However, this liquid bronzer by NARS is a similar product.

The palette I’ve pictured is no longer available, but this is the most similar version!

As far as the rest of the body goes, I’m happy to report that we left our trip without a single bit of sunburn. The kids and I wore Supergoop the entire time, and I simply couldn’t recommend that product line more. It’s the best! We specifically love the Super Power Sunscreen Mousse and the Sunnyscreen (which makes applying sunscreen to kids so easy).

I packed a few of my favorite travel-size hair products but my hair routine during the day was a messy bun, and then I blew it dry and put a few bends in it when we went out in the evening. I made sure to deep-condition when I got back home from all the chlorine and saltwater.

The sunshine and warm air was so enjoyable and it shifted me into “WHEN IS SPRING?!!?” gear almost instantly. And I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you that I’m still doing that vacation foundation routine even back home just to hang on to some of that glow!

In the video, the lipstick I’m wearing is a blotted off Bobbi Brown Luxe Matte Lipstick in Bold Nectar

Love this post! I never wear make-up on holiday but if I do it is always plenty of moisturiser and then a bronzer over the top to give that bronzed goddess look haha! §

Thanks for the recommendations! I hardly wear makeup on vacation… usually just a bit of tinted moisturiser! 🙂

Fave mid-price deep conditioner for thick, somewhat wavy hair?

Question: any recommendations on how to keep your Kenra hairspray flowing smoothly? I can’t seem to keep mine from clogging slightly and messing up that nice airbrush spray effect it had the first time I used it.

I’ve heard that happening a lot! Try running the nozzle under hot water before you spray!
