Highlights of 2019

You should know it was impossible to narrow this down.

One of my favorite things is trying new products. I love the thrill of the hunt, and being able to review and share my experience with different things here on the blog. Makeup is what I tend to be most experimental with, but it’s hard to find pretty much anything in the “beauty” world that I wouldn’t want to explore.

Based on the Beauty Favorites videos from this past year, here are some of my top makeup, skincare, and hair products!

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation – probably my most worn foundation of the year. It offers buildable coverage and looks very natural.

Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation – a great foundation that offers such a pretty radiance to the skin.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer in shade 2 – brightens and lightens my under eye area in such a natural way.

Milani Rose Powder Blush in Blossomtime Rose – a very beautiful drugstore blush that wears all day.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Palette in Light – a game-changer for contouring and highlighting my face.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara in Black – my very favorite mascara.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask – This soothes even the driest of lips and tastes good too.

Amika got grit Dry Texture Paste – it’s a perfect product for adding texture through your hair in order to plump it up.

Biossance Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum – tightens and smoothes wrinkles with a plant-based retinol alternative.

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Night Cream – a deeply hydrating cream that made my skin glow in the morning.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Triple Detox Shampoo – perfect to use after a few days of not shampooing your hair!

Alterna CAVIAR Anti-Aging Restructuring Bond Repair Leave-In Overnight Serum – this has helped my dry ends from splitting and is very easy to use.

Alterna CAVIAR Anti-Aging Restructuring Bond Repair 3-in-1 Sealing Serum – a perfect serum to slip onto damp hair for a smooth finish after blow-drying.

Alterna CAVIAR Anti-Aging Multiplying Volume Styling Mist – a great volumizer for fine hair!

Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara – a drugstore mascara that offers serious volume and thickness.

Becca Soft Light Blurring Powder – it’s like the “Instagram pretty filter” in powder form.

NARS Liquid Blush in Orgasm – the most wearable, flattering pink.

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick in Liv in Up – this is probably the lip color I wore the most this year! Such a perfect pink.

Buxom Cosmetics Eyeshadow PaletteRead this post to see what colors I added to mine!

Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Full-Coverage Concealer – a great option for those that prefer a full coverage concealer!

Becca Skin Love Weightless Blur Foundation – this is a really nice natural looking foundation with a lot of glow!

Neutrogena Smooth Moisture Color Stick in Pink Nude – an easy to wear pink that feels great on lips.

What shade to you use in the Nars Sheer Glow? Usually all of the shades you use match my skin tone perfectly!

I have to agree about the Charlotte Tilbury filmstar palette. It was underwhelming when I first opened it and did not swatch well … BUT ON THE SKIN ✨ ✨ ✨!!! Complete game changer. Best highlighter I’ve ever owned — as in, SO much glow but not in a strobe-y way, NOT glittery or flaky/chalky looking (the latter is what I expected from the swatch), it buffs-in/blends-out perfectly – it’s just the best. And the contour shade seemed like it would do nothing at all, but it does exactly what it should: it contours your face, almost undetectably, without any warmth where there shouldn’t be warmth. I sometimes use a tiny bit of a warm bronzer over my cheeks/top of my nose to warm up my face if that’s what I’m going for, but I’ll never use another contour around the perimeters!!

What is your favorite everyday moisturizing face product? I see the fresh night one but don’t see anything listed for daytime.

I saw a great option for the face serum, but I’m curious if you have an idea of something great for the area under the eye?? That area and my forehead 😬 are my struggle areas. Thanks!

I bought the Nars foundation based on your recommendation! I love it but just cant find the right primer for it. Do you use a primer with that foundation and if so which one?

Is there a tutorial for the top right photo? I tried browsing through but couldn’t find it. But then again, I didn’t search through everything….

I remember you commenting on Instagram about a purple Kerastase heat protectant a while ago, and I was wondering if the purple component would do anything on natural blond hair.

Also, random question, but what do you listen to on the radio or phone when your kids are in the car with you? Do you have music subscriptions? My little guy is 16 months, and I’m kind of at a loss as to what would be good.

What shade Armani foundation? I have a similar skin tone to you. I have combo skin but every sample foundation I’ve tried is 1. Too heavy or 2. Causes tiny little break outs. Help😭😩

And to squirrel here- is there a “rule” regarding using all cream products vs all powder to prevent a cream foundation from grabbing at say a powder blush or contour?

I think I must be doing something wrong with the luminous silk foundation, because everyone loves it but despite having normal skin (not oily or dry) it seems to just slip off my face. I go to the mirror mid morning and patches on my nose and lip have rubbed off, even after powder. I usually wear a full coverage foundation and that never happens, so I have no idea why this is happening
