Gift Guide for Kids

How was your weekend?!

Our Friday night started with a Favorite Things Party at my house. There is little I enjoy more than hosting a party, feeding people, and spending time with friends on the weekend. This was the first time I’ve ever hosted a “Favorite Things” party and through googling I found there are a few different ways to do it. Pinterest + Google will give you lots of results if you want to learn more about how to host one for your friends or family!

After we did the gift exchange we played my favorite group game, Telephone Pictionary. You can read more about my favorite games to play here!

Saturday morning I took David to a Waffle Brunch at our friend’s house. Our whole family was invited but Luke and Emily were getting over a little sickness so it worked for Justin to stay back with them and give me and David some one on one time.

Justin and I had already planned for a date night earlier on in the week so we had that to look forward to on Saturday night as well! After a rainy day being stuck inside, we were happy to get out of the house! We met up with our friends at a restaurant in a nearby town and then saw Ford v Ferrari at the theater. I love Christian Bale so nearly any movie with him is a must-see for me.

Ford v Ferrari was a good movie, I’d recommend seeing it!

On Sunday we went to church, did housework in the afternoon, and had dinner at a friend’s house. It ended up being a very social weekend for us, which is exactly how I like it. Between Justin and me, I’m pretty certain that he would need more quiet weekends occasionally than I would but I’m so glad that we both enjoy spending time with friends like we did this past weekend.

We’re hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year, and we’ll be spending it with his side of the family. We always alternate holidays so this year it’s Thanksgiving with the Bryans and Christmas with my folks. I’ve hosted Thanksgiving one other time but my mom was also present so she took the lead on a lot of the food prep and timing.

This time it’ll all be me but I’m up for the challenge! My mother-in-law and sister-in-law are bringing sides and desserts so I really have to only tackle the turkey and my grandma’s delicious sweet rolls.

Here are a few other links + loves:

I bought these nylon socks as an option to wear with booties or boots in the wintertime. I don’t typically wear socks with booties, oftentimes because a lot of mine are cut pretty low, but I’ve bought a few mid-shaft height booties recently and found myself looking for a sock that would work and not feel too bulky. These are great. They are very thin so they will not offer much, if any, warmth, but they are the perfect “nylon sock” for the job.

I pulled these boots out of my attic recently and was reminded just how perfect they are. They are easy to wear with leggings and a tunic sweater, or you can dress them up with dark denim and a blouse.

In case you missed it, I answered a handful of beauty questions recently in this video!

I also shared an “in my bathroom” tutorial demonstrating how I curl my hair on IGTV. You can click here to watch it! Speaking of Instagram, I’ll be sharing a few recent winter coats I’ve found and loved on Stories this week so be sure to follow along there!

A nice round-up of where to find monogrammed gifts!

This is such a nice set of face masks for only $20!!

Would you buy a refrigerator just for your skincare products?

If you need a crowd-pleasing pie, my friend Andrea has the most simple and delicious pie recipe! Find it at the bottom of this post.

P.S. Watch a recent beauty favorites video here!

I’m kinda loving the waffle brunch idea. Sounds like something fun to do over winter break.

I really like the SmartWool Secret Sleith no-show socks with boots. They are very thin but provide a little warmth, and don’t slip off.

I love going to a favorite things party. Please share what your item was. I’m thinking about bringing a travel size of the Aquage uplifting foam to the one I’m going to.

Sounds like a perfect weekend! Aside from the sick kiddos. If it were up to me we’d have friends over every weekend also!
