A New-ish Haircare Line I Love

I’ve been seeing Virtue products popping up on various social media platforms but it wasn’t until I spoke with someone who works for the company that I decided to really explore the line.

This employee, who was so kind when we met at a Madewell in-store event, shared that the development of the products started in an interesting way. You can read more about it on the Virtue website, but basically, they discovered how to extract keratin protein in a very pure form and they use that specific protein in their haircare products. It fills the gaps caused by damage from color, heat, or really anything.

As someone with highlighted, dry, damage-prone hair, this sounded like something I wanted to try immediately.

I started with a few different travel size shampoos and conditioners. One duo was the Full line and the other was the Recovery line. I loved everything except the Full conditioner, as it made my hair a little bit more staticky than usual.

I really enjoyed the Recovery shampoo and conditioner. It made my hair feel fantastic. I felt good about using a conditioning product with all good things for my hair, and it didn’t leave behind any unnecessary weight or waxy feeling. I ended up buying the full size of the Recovery line so I could continue using it.

I also purchased the Restorative Treatment Mask and thought it was also great. It did make my hair feel a touch heavy, but that is kind of to be expected after using a hair mask.

The last thing I threw in my online cart at the last minute was the Un-Frizz cream. This time of year means that frizz is starting to rear its ugly head, so a frizz controlling cream is a great product to add into the mix. I love the Living Proof Nourishing Oil so I couldn’t help but compare it to that product. Ultimately, the cream was good but it felt a tiny bit heavy on my hair. The caveat there, though, is that it doesn’t take much for my hair to feel like it has too much product on it. I think I prefer a serum since it’s lighter, but I will say the Un-Frizz cream from Virtue certainly did the job!

I’m sure I’ll continue to explore the line more and I love that their HQ is right here in Raleigh, North Carolina (where I live!).

I just tried the full shampoo and conditioner too. I have to agree, I loved the shampoo but the conditioner was just ok. I would really like to try the volumizing primer and see how that works for my hair.

HelloHHello!

Wondering if you can do a post on hair color (from the store or on-line) that are good to use for people that have an allergy to hair color. The allergy is to MI and PPD. Thanks!
