3 Gift Ideas that Aren’t Physical Objects

A good way to sum up my life right now is busier than ever but happier than ever. My husband Justin and I are have grown (and are still growing!) in more ways than one in the past two years.

We’ve added another baby to the family, our daughter Emily, and both of us have been able to continue to grow our businesses. It’s so deeply rewarding to be able to work on something that we both created from nothing, and I’m thankful to be able to model that to my kids!

We balance working from home, running the household, and raising our children without the assistance of a nanny or childcare right now. We’ve been through seasons where we needed childcare, and that has been a wonderful experience, but at this time we’re able to juggle a lot in our day to day lives.

With all of that, though, I’m always up for looking at ways to simplify, streamline, or outsource what I can. Since we’ve added the Amazon Echo Show to our kitchen, we’ve both found ways to to use it that help make our day to day go a little bit smoother!

If you aren’t familiar, the Amazon Echo Show is video screen device with Alexa enabled to assist you in your life. We thought the kitchen would be a great place to put the device because that is where most of our time is spent! The Echo Show has over 50,000 skills to help, entertain, and inform!

Our morning routine consists of a long to do list that Justin and I tackle together. I’m usually the first one downstairs with the baby to get my morning cup of coffee, and Justin will come down a bit later after he’s finished at the gym and ready for the day. Then it’s a tag-team effort to get breakfast made, entertain the kids, make school lunches and snacks, talk about what the day holds, think through meals for the day, etc.

Justin and I both use the Amazon Echo Show while we are getting the morning routine going. Between asking for the weather that day, listening to a morning briefing, or adding to the grocery list, it’s so simple to use. Both of our hands are often full with other tasks we are accomplishing so to be able to speak to Alexa and ask her to perform a task makes it simple and efficient.

I’m surprised how much I find myself relying on the Amazon Echo Show. Not only does it provide really helpful assistance during the day, but it also has a ton of fun extra features that we’ve enjoyed exploring like trivia games, storytelling, and knock knock jokes. There is also a running thread of up to date news or other interesting articles to stay in the loop of what is happening in the world!

You can find the Echo Show available on Amazon.

The new system sounds super convenient and so helpful for your family! I don’t need it at this moment, but I can totally see it working in a big family with lots of kids. 🙂

Curious as to how the ‘grocery list’ feature works? Once you verbally tell Alexa to add an item to the list – what happens to the list that makes it usable when you are at the store – can it send it to your IPhone?
TY!

It syncs with the Alexa app on your phone and you can view the list on that app!

It seems like you can do all of this with the regular amazon echo dot, which is what we have- news, weather, reminders, jokes, trivia, grocery list, etc. No real need for the bulky screen.

The screen is actually pretty low profile and you interact with it in more ways because it has a visual element! Yes the dot can do a lot of the same things, but not all of them!
