The Accessories I’ve Been Wearing All Summer

Beating My Pregnancy Melasma

One of the reasons I like wearing a basic t-shirt so often is because that allows me to sort of pick any lipstick or pair of earrings to complete the outfit!  This summer I’ve been wearing a lot of the same things and I thought I’d run through a few of my favorites on this post!

  1. Madewell Tassel earrings – I love that these are a statement earring without being heavy. If you’ve been reading the blog long enough you may remember I had to have my ear repaired after an earring ripped almost completely through the lobe. Since then I’ve tried to avoid heavy statement earrings as much as possible! Not only does the thread on these earrings remind me so much of my friendship bracelet making youth, but they are simple enough to go with a basic tee or easy enough to match with a dressier outfit. I have a few different styles and love them all. My sister also sells some similar versions in her shop!
  2. Maya Brenner necklace – I got my first Maya Brenner rose gold initial necklace after Luke was born. Before that I had a “J” bracelet for Justin which I still have of course. After Emily arrived I sent my necklace back to have an “E” added to my necklace with the boys’ initials so I could have all my children on one necklace! I love how delicate and light it is. I wear it nearly every day! I do not shower, sleep or work out with it, just FYI.
  3. Le Papier Studio Silhouette necklace – This is another cherished personalized necklace of the boys’ silhouettes. I love how simple and pretty it is, and that it’s my boys profiles right on the necklace! I need to take a photo of Emily to add her to the chain soon!

There are certainly other pieces of jewelry I’ve worn this summer too, but these three were the most worn of my collection.

The nail polish colors I’ve been wearing over and over are Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish in Style Stunner or Model Citizen or The It Factor. This line of nail polish is the only, THE ONLY I TELL YOU, nail polish that will last several days on my nails that is not a “cure with the light soak in acetone to remove” gel polish. It is simply 2 coats of color + 1 coat of top coat to get the best effect. It’s easy to polish, dries quickly, and I’d argue is the longest you’ll be able to get out of a nail color.

If you like polishing your own nails, check this video out to see how to get the MOST out of your manicure.

I’m curious, do you like changing out your jewelry every day, or do you typically wear the same few items over and over?

Love your posts! I wear big silver hoops along with my silver watch and bracelets almost every day. It goes with everything and I don’t have to figure out what goes with what! But I do love the tassel earrings!

I used to change up my jewelry every day, but with two kids and my personal taste changing, I tend to rotate between 2-3 sentimental necklaces, one bracelet, and no earrings (my one year old is a puller, so I knew by the time he was a month old that I would need to put those away for a season). I prefer a simpler jewelry approach these days and feel it’s far more classy.

I have a handful of earrings that I rotate through. But I need to invest in a couple good quality but simple necklaces to add a little something extra!

Kate! Check out these adorable statement earrings. I’m typically a low-key stud kind of girl but I’ve been slowly working my way up to try these. I finally broke down and bought a pair last week and now I want every pair!.

Unrelated, but I just received the roadtripper jean sinordered after reading your post the other day. I haven’t put them on yet, but they seem very legging in size. They don’t look this for, fitting on you. Am I looking at them wrong?

I’m not sure what you mean by legging in size. Are you talking about the stretch? They have quite a bit of stretch in them which is what makes them so comfortable!

I love the stretch, but when I looked at the angle openings, they seemed very tiny like my leggings/jeggings are. I tried them on and they weren’t as tight as I anticipated in the legs. I find that skinny jeans tend to be more legging in nature, which I’m not a fan of. I’m looking forward to taking these for a spin around the park with the kids and the classroom on casual days (neeeeed the higher rise…tired of feeling like I give the kids a lesson on the human body every time I bend down!)

I love those tassel earrings. I have a pair of beaded tassels that I still have to wear this summer.

Thank you for sharing the silhouette link! I like to change my jewelry out everyday; but always wear at least a watch and a pair of earrings, and then usually a necklace. I really love Kendra Scott earrings, and have a few custom silver pieces my husband had made for me.

I’ve fallen in love with leather statement earrings this summer. They are so fun and cute and feel weightless!

How well does the Gel Couture hold up against sunscreen? Does the top coat get stripped off and tacky after applying sunscreen like most polishes do?

This is totally off topic but I wanted to say that I (like everyone else on the planet) absolutely LOVE your hair tutorials. The easy, chic updo ones are especially great. However, I wonder if you have ever considered doing some tutorials on a person with longer hair? My hair is mid-back length and I struggle to follow your instructions because they just don’t quite work for me with such long hair. Just a little request from a big fan. 🙂

I’m a self-proclaimed gemaholic: I own a lot of pretty jewelry. I like to plan my outfits around the necklace, earrings and bracelets I’m wearing, not the other way around.

I have sterling silver hoops that I keep in all the time. I am bad at remembering to put earrings in otherwise. I also have very sensitive ears so I have to be careful what metals I wear.

Have been loving the name jewellery you wear.
I like jewellery and even make some too but I keep going back to my favourites. I have a four ring necklace with my boys names but Centime. Love that it is sterling silver and durable.

Hi, Kate! I just searched the blog to see if I could find in a post (or comments) what size maya brenner necklace you went with?

I’ve been in love with it for awhile and am finally going to bite the bullet and get one 🙂
