A beauty blender trick

next
My favorite new tool for picking out an outfit

I was a little behind on “deep, undying love for the beauty blender” train but I’m finally on board and love it! I’m sharing a trick I recently started implementing in the past few weeks that saves time and helps my makeup apply and wear like a dream!

Watch the quick video below to learn the tip!

Products I used in the video: Beauty Blender, Giorgio Armani Lumionous Silk foundation in shade 5, MAC prep + prime Fix, Urban Decay All Nighter concealer in Warm Fair

I used Too Faced Natural Eyes palette for my eyes, Fig on my lips, and Anastasia brow powder duo for my brows

Do you clean your beauty blender after every use?

Reply
Kate says · 12.19.17

No, I sort of work my way around the blender, and clean it about weekly!

How do you clean your beauty blender? I felt like I could never get my clean which stopped me from using it. Thanks!

Yes I need to know how to clean my beauty blender.

Katarina says · 12.19.17

I use the solid brush cleaner from Sephora – it works so well!

I clean mine with an oil based cleanser as it removes all the makeup and any stains, you could even use a bit of olive oil or coconut oil mixed with dish soap.

I have the same eye shadow palette in the matte and love it, the colors are great. Hope you all have a wonderful holiday.

Perfect timing, I just got a beauty blender so this is really helpful! What product to you use for your eyeliner? Could you please post an updated video/instagram story of how you do your eye makeup including your eyeliner and not just eyeshadow? I love all of your videos/tutorials and I’m having constant trouble with my eyeliner always rubbing off on my upper eyelid and don’t know how to connect the outside corners of my eyeliner.

I use Stila smudge stick in Damsel!

I’m with you, would love an updated eyeliner tutorial! I use a beauty blender, this is a great trick I will give a try!

What is your lip color, if you don’t mind sharing?

Same here. I would love to know what color/brand that lipstick is.

Kate says · 12.19.17

It is Fig by Smashbox https://rstyle.me/n/cvxa5vm8f6

I’m the same! I didn’t get the Beauty Blender and then my makeup artist used it for my wedding and the results were amazing, so I went out and bought one immediately! Now I love it! Allie http://www.theallthatglittersblog.com

Great tips! I will try these for sure. Do you have a tutorial for your eye make up today? It seems to me that your eye make up tends tends to look very similar in many videos, but then you use different products. I bought the Tarte Happy Girls Shine Brighter palette and you only have one tutorial for it….for your readers, it would be more benefcial to do multiple tutorials from the same palette. Just my opinion as I am a simple girl who will never use more than say 2 palettes (if that).

What lipstick color are you wearing?

I would also like to know about your lipstick. It looks like Fig by Smashbox but it is shiner (not glossy though) than what I have. If it is Fig what did you apply over it? Thanks.

Hey Kate! What are your recommendations on finding the right shades of foundation? I have never been able to find one I am happy with because they ALWAYS end up looking orange or yellow on my skin. Someone told me that it may be that my skin pH causes the makeupnto oxidize quickly? I have tried all kinds of brands from drugstore to very high end and I just feel like this always happens to me! And then when I try to exchange the makeup I get dirty looks from the reps at the Sephora, Ulta counter so it makes me want to just deal with what I’ve gotten and I’m ungaplh with the makeup for a few months. 🙁

Sorry for all the typos! Lol ungaplh=unhappy!

Kate says · 12.19.17

It’s really trial and error. You can ask for samples of foundation at Sephora! Try some with pink tones in it to see if that works better for you!

So, concealer you do before foundation?! does this make it last longer and/or not crease as much?!

Reply
Kate says · 12.19.17

No, concealer is after foundation!

Reply
Jillian says · 12.19.17

I am interested in trying that trick! Although I’m afraid my beauty blender will not be damp enough unless I use a lot.

Kristin says · 12.19.17

Can you use a drugstore brand setting spray instead of Mac?

Reply
Laura B says · 12.19.17

Awesome tutorial, can’t wait to try this. I love your lipstick color… can you share it?

Kate says · 12.19.17

Fig by Smashbox!

Before you applied your foundation and concealer , did you apply anything under your eyes? Curious what you used as you had zero dark circles! 😁

Reply
Kimberlea says · 12.20.17

Try the Real Techniques sponge! Better and like a 4th of the price 🙂

Melissa M says · 12.23.17

I was super resistant about trying the RT blender… but I like it even better than my BB. I do think it wears out a bit faster but I can deal with that!

Reply
Katy says · 12.20.17

What is the best way to clean the blender daily?

Reply
Katie says · 12.28.17

I’m curious about this as well! I see Beauty Blender has a solid and a liquid cleanser – not sure the difference, which is easier, or how often you clean it?

Reply
Katie says · 12.28.17

Okay never mind, just saw up further where these questions were answered!

Alicia says · 12.20.17

Such a good tip!! I’ve just started using a beauty blender and I’m not 100% in love yet, but excited to try this out tomorrow!

Are you still applying a primer before applying your foundation even though you are spraying the Mac prep prime fix on your beauty blender?

Reply
Jennifer says · 12.21.17

Is there a big difference between a “beauty blender” and a sponge? I have the old school sponge, but am wondering if the beauty blender is much better and why.

Thank you, Kate!

Reply
Ester says · 12.26.17

I have a similar sponge that I use to blend the concealer and I think it does an awesome job!

I bought Prep and Prime Fix+ yesterday and tried this trick this morning. LOVE! Just had to come say thanks for the tip – it made my makeup so smooth and application was really nice. Just FYI to all, at MAC yesterday I got a three pack of scented minis and it was on sale for $15! One regular mini is $12. It’s a holiday gift set so not sure how long it’ll be available.

Love your blog and Instagram (especially stories). First time to comment but not the last! Thanks again!
