The classics

Work/Life balance

For the longest time I never wore black. I felt like it was too harsh on my light skin tone and against my blonde hair. But I’ve warmed up to the idea in recent years and when I saw these pants, in a variety of colors, my first instinct was to grab the black ones!

They are unlike anything else I have in my closet, and they happened to be on sale, so I decided to get them. I’m such a jeans + grey t-shirt girl so these pushed me a little bit outside of my comfort zone, but in a good way.

pants, t-shirt, ankle boots, bag, earrings

They have cute little zips on the outside of each ankle, and then angled zip pockets in front. They feel a bit edgy to me without looking like I’m trying too hard.

I’ve already worn the booties in these photos a few times and let me tell you they are like BUTTER. They require NO breaking in and are super easy to wear. I can’t wait to start wearing ankle boots on the regular-it’s the easiest way to slightly dress up a super basic outfit.

More of my favorite recent finds here and here!

It is always ideal to have the perfect par of black jeans in the wardrobe. I like the side detail 🙂

Those pants look pretty comfy.

Recently I had to buy new runners and had no idea where to begin or what brand I needed. With some help from a store that take time to analyse your step and understand your needs I walked out with a pair of new shoes, and I thought of you. Because they feel like clouds on my feet. I totally get the cloud reference analogy. For the first time in a long while my feet are so happy in runners!

May I ask what size you got?

Only because we seem to wear the same size. I didn’t want that to come off as super creepy. 😂

How do you feel about flap pockets, though?

Reply
Kate says · 08.16.17

They aren’t my favorite but I don’t mind them enough to pass on the pants

Cute outfit, Kate!
I absolutely love your eye makeup in these photos! I think I saw you in this venue on instagram and thought the same thing!
What are the colors to get that eye shadow look?

I got these a couple of weeks ago for the same reasons you mentioned! Edgy, but not too much, and also not my typical pant. I’ve been saving mine for fall, but I am even more excited to style them now. Thanks for sharing!

What is the name of the cleaner you used and loved that made your counters so so shiny?? I thought I would remember the name…I thought wrong :/

I love that your style is casual yet always polished.

Also, I noticed that your “shop the post” widget wasn’t working. Not sure if you knew or not. 🙂

I see those booties are perforated – do you think they would be ok in cold weather? Not necessarily snow, but maybe temps in the 30s or 40s?

Reply
Kate says · 08.19.17

Hard to say right now, but I think if it were me I would just wear socks with them! Socks that match as closely as possible!

This is so cute. Simple but still looks put together. Definitely my favourite way to dress
