Laced Half Up

This was one of my favorite ways to wear my hair when it was cut into a shoulder length bob. It’s so classic and simple, and so easy to do once you see it broken down into the few steps it takes!

I’d highly recommend these bobby pins as they hold the best!

To begin, pull the very top layer of your hair at the crown into a circle, pinching at the back, and slide two bobby pins in horizontally to hold that section in place. This will determine how volumized your crown area is, so you can pump it up or keep it smooth depending on your preference.

Beginning with the left side, use your thumb and run it lightly from your temple all the way to the bobby pins in the back, picking up the least amount of hair that you can without being able to see through that section. Slide a pin into the section as shown, and then repeat on the opposite side.

You will keep lacing the sections, one by one, as you get to the back. It’s okay to slide these pins in vertically if that holds better.

The finished result is very elegant and intricate! And it should hold up very well with a light mist of hairspray once you are finished! I love this style on straight hair, I think it shows off the sections so well!

Perfect timing! I literally just chopped my long hair off into a shoulder length bob and have been as such a loss of what to do with it. I’ll have to try this!

Thanks for this reminder! I used to wear my hair this way all the time and the back of my head is pinned a bazillion times (not as much as yours) on Pinterest with this style. I need to do it again!

A good friend styled her hair this way after watching your tutorial. I complimented her hair and she credited you with the style idea and I’ve been living in blissful Small Things fandom ever since!
