Summer Foot Care

Quick Clean for Hair Tools

I’m the absolute worst at being consistent with my foot care. Ask my husband, he’ll tell you. With much enthusiasm, in fact.

Anytime my feet lightly graze his body in the bed he’ll cry out, “I’M BLEEDING! WHY ARE YOUR FEET SO SHARP?!”

I wish I could say that considering my husbands well-being was enough motivation to keep my feet in tip-top condition, but. . .well. . . it hasn’t spurred me on thus far so it may take a greater force.summer foot careone, two, three

I will say, now that I’ve discovered these foot peels, it’s been much easier to maintain smooth and soft feet.

I’ve done 2 peels this summer already, and wouldn’t be surprised if I need to do one more in the next month. It’s painless, and makes my feet so incredibly soft! I introduced my sister to them, and now she’s hooked!

The tool, lovingly called the “grinder” in our house, doesn’t exactly make me feel delicate and feminine, but it gets the job done.

Finally, this foot cream is super hydrating and smells really nice. My mom got it for me a few years ago, and it’s been irreplaceable ever since!

This post is brief, I know, but I’m talking about my feet after all! At this point in the summer, you may need to give them a little TLC, and these are my favorite things for that purpose.

Love this post! My feet are usually bad most of the year, but especially in the summer when they’re shown more. I have used that BBW foot lotion for YEARS as well, and will continue. The stuff they have for heals is also great! I have been meaning to buy one of those foot files, and may need to just take the plunge. I also bought that foot peel after you raved about it, but haven’t had a chance to use. I usually play sand volleyball in the summer, so my feet are usually in rough shape anyway and pointless to maintain. However, This year I am not (pregnancy), so I am trying to keep them up on looks… with a much needed pedi scheduled tomorrow!

I love using foot cream because it just leaves them so soft. Soap and Glory has a really nice one called Heel Genuis!

My poor feet have been neglected since the birth of my daughter. The foot peel looks interesting – I’ll have to try it. Thanks

Even though the only thing my feet are grazing up to in the middle of the night is my leg, I have been obsessed with keeping them smooth this summer. Foot file + exfoliating scrub + excessive amount of body butter at night. So soft. (it’s a very sexy night time routine that goes nicely with the vaseline for soft lips and retainer to keep my teeth straight. ha)

I recently purchased the PedicurveUSA. Here’s the website-www.pedicurveusa.com . It is so easy to use and clean. I’m a mom of 3 and it’s difficult for me to find the time or the strength to maintain my feet. I finally found a low maintenance system that leaves my feet feeling like velvet!! I use for only a few minutes in the shower everyday and my feet have never felt more glamorous! Good luck.

My feet are a running joke in my family too. I love this post, and the fact that I’m not alone in my need for a “grinder”!

Hi Kate! I’m a huge fan of yours and read your posts daily. Can I make a suggestion? On posts like these where you link to products, will you include which number you are referencing in your description? Not this post as much because the products are distinct, but sometimes I can’t tell which item you’re discussing. Just a suggestion! Thanks for all that you do!!!

sure I will definitely try to be better about that!

How long does your feet peel after that mask? I’m curious how far out from an event I should use it so I don’t have reptile feet at the event. ?

I’ve used this peel twice now, and I have really dry feet. I would be sure to do the peel at least two weeks prior to any important event. I sometimes aid the removal process by using a pumice stone or sugar scrub and stiff brush. This foot peel is amazing!

I’d do it about 2 weeks prior to the event!

This is crazy timing! I just looked at your blog last night to see if you had any info about the Foot Peeling mask product haha! I just used the product about 5 days ago and haven’t seen any flaking yet. Do you have any tips or suggestions on prep before doing the mask or after? Thank you!

Soaking is key. Preferable before and everyday after the peel until the skin starts to let lose. The warmer the water and the longer you soak the better. It usually takes about 5-7 days to start peeling. Hope this helps.

I TOTALLY agree with the soaking!! The first time I used a peel, I didn’t soak daily and I didn’t get a really good end product. The second time, I soaked my feet at least 20 minutes a day (just in a bucket while watching TV at night) and the peeling was WAY better!

I like the idea of the foot peel but it kinda freaks me out. I mean, I wonder what they put in that stuff to eat your skin away? I think I will try that grinder first. I have a file I got at Sally’s but it just isn’t doing enough.

It’s made from fruit acids. Similar to some facial peels but at a higher concentration.

I’ve been pricing out grinders for a while, as I’ve started becoming aware of my feet. Do they take a long time to use each time? During the winter, I slather my feet in whatever cheap lotion I gave around before putting my socks on. Makes me feel like I’m at least putting in a little effort!

Okay, in case you need one more tool in your foot regimen; I swear by this thing:

I constantly walk around barefoot, so needless to say my hooves are a little rough. I saw all the positive reviews on this foot file on Nordstrom and went ahead and got it. It lives up to the hype!!! I only use the less coarse side of it, but it rocks. Bonus, its part of the anniversary sale!

Have you used any of the “grinders” on the market? If so, how does this tool compare? I’ve tried similar tools from the drug store but they didn’t work as well as the Amope but I’m always looking for what works best.

Reply
Dylan says · 08.04.16

I haven’t! I have a minimal foot care routine, but this works better than any foot file I’ve used from the drugstore

Is this foot peel as intense as the Baby Feet Peel?

Reply
Riley says · 08.04.16

For those who don’t want to use the peel, a different, very cost-effective (but highly effective) way to soften your feet is this:

Soak your feet in very warm water, to which about 1/2 – 3/4 C vinegar (either white vinegar or cider vinegar–doesn’t matter which) has been added. Soak for about 20 min. Use a thick terry towel to rub the dead skin from your feet. You can also use a pumice stone or other abrasive tool.

HAHAHAHA, Oh my goodness Kate!! My husband feels the same way about my feet! I really need to purchase the “grinder” but my husband has allowed me to use his hand sander power tool instead ahahaha. He bought fine sand paper at Lowes and slapped that puppy on, BOOM instant foot sander. As a stay at home mother of 4 we try to save a buck wherever we can. I also have not found a better foot cream than the BBW true blue! It is amazing!! Thanks for sharing and Im so happy to know I am not the only one with this issue. XOXO

Was there an older blog post about the baby foot peel or I am just going crazy?? I could have sworn this blog is where I originally saw an in depth review by you sometime last year or maybe even the year before.
