Simple Jewelry Upgrades

How to fake a thicker lash line

Occasionally I miss working with my hands like I used to when I did hair or made jewelry with my sister for Elisabeth Ashlie.

I was in Michael’s the other day and walked through the jewelry section and found this pretty little package of druzy charms and tassels. I’ve been on the hunt for small tassel earrings so I grabbed two of them and thought I would just make some tassel earrings. But I didn’t want the other items to go to waste, so I found some jewelry that I haven’t worn in years and gave it a little upgrade.

All I needed was pliers (found in the jewelry section at Michael’s but you could also dig through your/your husband’s tool bag), the jewelry additions, and possibly earring hooks depending on what your plan is.

It’s easiest to open the earring hook and slide on the jewelry piece versus opening the ring on the jewelry piece itself.

This little upgrade below required no permanent changes to either piece! I just slid the druzy charm on the post of the stud earring because I put it in my ear. Simple as that!

And to add a little bit more to an otherwise delicate necklace, I simply added some pieces onto the center of two necklaces!

Jewelry: Tassel earrings were a DIY; Druzy studs, purple beaded necklace (very old from Stella and Dot), giraffe necklace (very old from J.Crew Factory, also available at J.Crew)

What simple but elegant upgrades! I’ve been eyeing those charms at Michael’s too. I now know what I can do with them. Thanks!

I love those diy tassel earrings! it is so tough to find ones that are small like that already made. I recently purchased some beaded tassel earrings from Forever 21 and they are fun but are SO HEAVY and huge I’m nervous that I’m going to rip my lobe.. thanks for the inspiration hope it is as easy as it looks!

So neat! These pieces are super pricey on etsy sites but now that you’ve let us in on their secrets I can save my money and make it myself instead for a fraction of the cost. Thanks!

This is so random but I noticed your wedding bands were back on! How did you get rid of the ring rash? I had the same thing happen to me during my first pregnancy but it cleared up after my son was born. It also happened during my second pregnancy but my my son is almost 8 months old and there’s no sign of it healing. I miss my band!

Also, this jewelry is amazing and now I’m going have to make a Hobby Lobby run ?

Oh dear. I’ve been so good about staying out of The Money Pit, I mean Michaels….but now I’ll have to go cuz those druzy charms are adorable! I make little stretchy beaded bracelets and those would be such a cute (and easy!) addition.

Thanks for the tip!

These are so cute!! I love DIYs! I haven’t made jewelry in a couple years but I was actually just telling my husband the other day that I’d love to get back into it…
