Bobbi Brown Ultra Nude Eye Palette(this is similar), Smashbox Beauty Exposed Palette(this is similar, and this is too), Tarte Tartelette paletteTarte Tartelette in Bloom palette, Urban Decay Naked2 Basics paletteL’Oreal La Palette Nude 1($16.99!), Tarte holiday palette
Unless I’m doing a smokey eye, I keep it simple with soft brown neutrals on my eyelids. I switch out different palettes through the year, but there are certainly shades that I always go to in each one.

BROWNS2

The L’Oreal La Palette Nude 1 is similar to the Naked palette by Urban Decay, but at a better price point. The shades don’t blend AS well, but with primer on your lid you should be fine! I like the shimmery highlighting shades, as well as the perfect cool crease color.
BROWNS3

I’ve used the Naked2 Basics palette for a long, long time! You can see I hit pan in the perfect grey/brown shade but the black shade on the end just fell out completely! This is my most recommended palette of the bunch!

BROWNS4

I like this Smashbox palette but found that the formula of the shadows is VERY soft. So, there is a bit of fallout but otherwise the colors are nice! I like using Marble all over the lid, Oak in the crease, and Bare at the brow bone.

BROWNS5

The Tartelette in Bloom gets more use than I thought it would! I love Jetsetter as a crease color, and Rocker is a great all over shade for a lot of shimmer depth. Flower child and Charmer mixed together makes a beautiful brow bone shade too! Wet your angled eyeliner brush and press it into Smokeshow for the perfect soft but still dark liner!

BROWNS7

I wish this Bobbi Brown palette was still in production. It has the nicest browns! It’s pretty similar to the Naked2 Basics, but a bit warmer.  My favorites are Chino, Praline, and Stone.

BROWNS8

Tarte knocked it out of the park with their Tartelette palettes! In the original there are no shimmery shades. My favorites are Fashionista for liner, Natural Beauty for all over the lid, Power Player for the crease, and Super Mom for the brow bone.

You can find all my favorite brushes here, and you may also like this post on my favorite cream eyeshadows!

Love the soft browns! They’re my go-to for everyday looks too. I love naked lunch for an all over the lid shade, a little bit of phloof! for highlight/a pop of brightness, and brown down for the edges/crease (all by Mac). I do have a question. I have had the few palettes for several years now (some for almost a decade!), and have barely made a dent in most of them. I put eye shadow on every day in the morning before work, and usually take a break on the weekends, but not always. My question is, how do you ever use up enough product to buy more? No matter how much I use, there seems to be plenty of it left! 🙂

I am addicted to brown shadows and have WAY too many of them, but, I still love all of the above. So pretty:)

I have the Naked 2 palette. Have you done a tutorial on using it?

I have both the Tarte and the Naked palettes, they are my favorite ones. Plus brown goes with so many things.

I LOVE my Naked 2 palette. I pair it with Urban Decay’s eye shadow primer. As a blue eyed babe, the soft Browns really make my eyes pop.

How do you know which shades in these palettes to use on which part of your eyelid?

I am debating between getting the Tarlette palette and the Tartelette 2 in bloom in palette. Which one would you recommend? I am a neutral kind of girl! Currently the only palet I have is the Naked 2 basics! Thanks!

This post was super helpful after my sister in law asked for a neutral palette this year. I went with the L’Oreal La Palette Nude 1 palette and hope she loves it!

HI Kate…Love all your posts! I thought you might want to know I get a huge Rimmel ad across the bottom of my iPad screen (about 1/3 of the screen). Maybe it is intended but thought I would let you know in case it’s not. I can’t seem to get rid of it…clicking on it just changes sizes..
Merry Christmas to you and your cute family!

I’ve recently just started trying to use browns. This article held a lot, I bought the Lo’real palette to get started. I’ve always used plums, wines, and pinks. Do you have a recommendation for a palette that has a mix of those colors with browns? I like to keep my bag to the essentials as where I travel a lot. Do you have and recommendations for blue, hooded eyes?
