Drugstore Finds

I picked up a few things at Target the other day, and I thought I’d do a quick review of them here. You may remember that I complained about the pathetic selection of blushes in the drugstore recently.  I find that they tend to be a bit chalky and flat. Or they are excessively glittery.

I saw this multi-tonal blush by COVERGIRL and thought it would be a really beautiful deep peachy hue as if you mixed a rosy blush in with your bronzer. I’m most excited to wear this once I have a little bit of color on my face in the summertime, but it’s a nice pigmented blush for the spring as well!

The crease proof eyeshadow by Neutrogena in the shade “lasting taupe” is perfect for a minimal eye makeup look. I like putting Mac’s paint pot in Painterly all over my lid, and then gliding a little bit of this in the crease for something very fast in the morning.

Nars makes an eyeshadow stick in a very similar shade, and I would argue that this is right up there in quality, but a much cheaper price!

It feels slightly more waxy then other cream eyeshadows I’ve tried, but I haven’t had an issue with it creasing. It’s a nice amount of shimmer as well, without being too iridescent.

You could definitely use this all over the lid, I just kept it in my crease for something a little bit softer.

So, there you have it. A few drugstore beauty buys that I’m pretty darn pleased with.

I am always so wary of cream eyeshadows because of creasing issues, but I really love the color of this one! I’ll have to check out Neutrogena the next time I’m at Target!

I am so tired of blush or bronzer being ridiculously glittery. I do not want huge flecks of sparkles on my face! Do you ever use Physician’s Formula products? I’ve been eyeing them up lately but not sure what to try.

I use a blush from Physician’s Formula. I love it! There are several shades of pink in it, so it highlights too. It’s not glittery and there’s no shimmer. It just looks like I’ve been out in the sun for a while. It’s perfect for a very natural look.

I’ve been wanting to try the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks, but I think I’ll start with these instead. Neutrogena isn’t a brand I would have thought to try for these, thanks for the recommendation!

perfect timing! I’ve been looking for an inexpensive blush for everyday. I would love to see a post like this for drugstore hair products. Would you ever be open to that? Thanks, Kate! I hope your maternity leave is going well.

I love finding good makeup at Target! It’s so hard for me to splurge on fancy make-up, so I totally appreciate posts like this! Have a great week! XO

I’ve never seen Neutrogena makeup here in Canada but I really like the looks of that cream shadow stick!

Surprisingly enough, the drugstore blush I’ve liked the best is one of e.l.f. studio baked blushes. There’s a little bit of shimmer that takes away the need for a highlighter, but avoids being too glittery or gaudy. It’s not super pigmented so it winds up looking more glowy and natural.

How do you keep your mascara from smudging on your lower lid in the outer corners? I have tried EVERYTHING, I swear.
