Lived In Waves Tutorial

It’s baby month. ::dancing girl in red dress emoticon::

I’m scheduled for a repeat c-section on 2/12 unless this baby comes early. My husband is convinced that will happen, but I’m not. Either way I thought it might be a good idea to give you a heads up for what I imagine is going to go down here on TSTB for the time being.

First of all, if you are a daily reader, a weekly reader, a once a month reader, or if you aren’t really sure how you clicked onto this blog a moment ago–thank you. Readers make this blog a million times more rewarding and you simply cannot imagine how grateful I am that you take the time to check in here from time to time.

I’m going to take a brief maternity leave. How long? I’m not exactly sure. Right now I’m thinking about taking a month. I’ll keep you updated of any changes to that timeline as I know/discover them.

I pretty much jumped right back into blogging after I had David, and I wish I would have taken a bit more time. Like, an extra week or something. But, the whole newborn thing was so dramatic and new that I found myself craving familiarity–and that meant blogging.

I’m curious about what it’s going to be like meeting this next little baby! Will it feel completely new, or will I be taken right back to just over a year ago when I held David for the first time? I can’t wait to find out.

Anyway, back to the whole point of this post:

I spent some time pre-creating a few blog posts to fill the silence here while I’m off changing diapers and soaking up my kids. KID-S! I have some fun collaborations coming up this month too that are pre-scheduled so keep your eyes out for those!

I’m sure I’ll be sharing peeks into my day over on Instagram, but that may be the only form of social media I stay rather active on after the 12th.

SO, if you follow through Facebook or Twitter, you may not see me for a bit. Well you might see me on twitter because when “one-liners” hit me I always use twitter to get them out into the world. I like using BlogLovin’ for following the blogs I like to read, you can find more info about that here.

In other news, I thought I would address some random questions that I’ve gotten from a few readers:

1. What ever happened to your capsule wardrobe?

Well, while I did pretty much wear what I said I was going to, I just wasn’t consistent enough with taking outfit photos. Also, in all sincerity, I feel enormous so outfit photos weren’t at the top of my list.

2. I haven’t seen a Birchbox post in awhile, are you still subscribed?

Yes, I am! But lately the boxes have left much to be desired. For the first time EVER I’m considering whether or not I want to stay subscribed.

Alright, that’s enough housekeeping for one post! Have a great tuesday!

yay for baby! I’m so excited to find out whether baby is a boy or girl!! Prayers that your section goes smoothly! My planned c was a million times easier than my unplanned and since you had such a great first you should fly through!!

I cancelled my birchbox this month after over a year of subscribing. I’d love to go back but it just wasn’t cutting it for me. I love the points, so I’m not sure how long I can go– but for now I’m pocketing the extra $.

I never had a Birchbox that I liked unfortunately. I kept it for about 6 months but finally cancelled. It was just a waste of money, although I’m open to trying it again at some point.

So glad you are taking some time after Baby #2 comes! Life with two kids is not for the faint of heart. 🙂 The first six months feel like you’re in the trenches, but it feels much more natural and fun once your family gets adjusted. Congratulations on this precious little one and enjoy your time away – it will go so quickly! We will be patiently and excitedly waiting for updates!

So excited for you ! Your birth experience will probably seem new all over again, except you will have your experience with David to fall back on and you will get in the groove pretty fast. As a mother of 2 in 13 months, I know I did. Enjoy and savor every moment ! God Bless ~

I thought I loved your blog before you had David, but I am finding that having incorporated your “life” into the blog more makes me enjoy it even more. Will be on the lookout for news on Instagram about the new addition.

the second one will be so cool – trust me, you’re nervous (as was i, when i had my second baby 16 months after my first) but since you feel so much more confident and in-the-know about what is coming, it seems so much easier, effortless, and fun! it’s not as hard as you think it will be – and the only people who scare you by saying how hard it will be are people with kids FURTHER apart…ever notice that? people with kids close always say it’s going to be just fine! good luck! it will be great.

Best wishes on however you end up delivering your bundle of joy. I feel you on the Birchbox thing. I subscribed for about 2yrs before I realized I had a tremendous number of miniature products I didn’t care for. Admittedly, I do miss getting that little present in the mail each month. Maybe I should subscribe to something new.

I have two kids as close together as yours are – you will be so glad you took time “off” (I mean you won’t be resting… haha) to get your bearings. It is so fun having too so close together, but the first few months are just crazy. Fun, stressful, amazing, but CRAZY. ha! … This is supposed to be encouraging, so sorry if it isn’t! I think you will do so great with two. Just remember that when they are 3 and 4 like mine are now IT WILL BE THE BEST DECISION EVER MADE to have them close together. PS- my 4 year old was born Feb 12! It is such a fun birthday because it is parties for her bday and Valentine’s day all in the same week! 🙂

Reply
Beth says · 02.03.15

I was REALLY disappointed with my January box :(. I feel like they are sending me things that don’t match up with my personal profile, & they sent me another bottle of nail polish that I hated the first time & wrote a terrible review the first time. If this continues, I will have to cancel. *sniff*

Elizabeth says · 02.03.15

Congratulations – you are almost there! I got Birchbox for a while before I started reading you. I watched some unboxing and comparison videos with other services because most of my boxes had nothing of a usable size – just some samples like I might get walking through a department store or Sephora and asking for them and some coupons, maybe a small foil pack to try something. I’m currently getting Ipsy because part of their business plan was to not include any foil packet-type samples, but only usable amounts. It has been nearly a year and the products have been good and the surprises each month are fun, but like another commenter I’ve found I’m actually getting backed up on little products – I can’t use them all fast enough. So, my new preference is to order what I really want from Sephora online, and then I can pick the samples and fun rewards that I want. Their program is really exceptional, I think. I don’t do Ulta, though, because I want to max my rewards by sticking with one seller.

I had birchbox for over a year and last month ago cancelled it. I was really tired of getting a new black eyeliner in every single box. I don’t even wear black eyeliner that often, I wear brown. I was tired of perfume samples and products that didn’t really pertain to me-like facial peels (I have sensitive skin). I am thankful that birchbox introduced me to Miss Jessies curly hair products because they are da bomb. So I’m taking a break from boxes for awhile-spending my money on Lou and Grey clothes instead!

I also meant to say I have been disappointed with Birchbox as well. I am SO SICK of getting bright red lipstick every month! Ugh. I am going to give it a couple of more months and if it hasn’t gotten better will probably cancel.

I have been a faithful reader since 2011 and I recommend you to EVERYONE. I got into your blog right after I got married. I got into a bit of depression after I got married (can a person who has never had a baby get postpartum?). Everything in my life changed at once: I moved, got married, switched jobs multiple times, switched churches, plus got really sick. Although many of the changes were good ones, I had a hard time because NOTHING felt familiar. Your blog became my constant. I would check it everyday. Thank you for being so great to all of your readers. Thank you for being a sister on the other side of the screen. Congrats on your growing family and all of your fun changes coming your way. I have since learned to cope better with change, but know it can be tough finding a new normal. Praying for you and your family to fully embrace the crazy beautiful of this new season.
