A girls’ morning out at Parlor

RamireztransalonΒ on Instagram is my go to for lived in, textured, beautiful hair

Alright, Grace was talking about these leggings in her post and in the sheer act of clicking over, and seeing that there were over 2,000 reviews (and 5 stars), I’ve put them on my “must try on after baby is here” list.

When I first saw this the only thing I could think of is an iron. Nonetheless, it looks cool.

Sometimes when David is being, ahem, emotional I’ll say to him, “Do you have a lot of emotions going on right now?” and when I saw this shirt I laughed to myself.

WhileΒ 8.5 months pregnant, eating my nightly bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios at the kitchen counter, I signed up for a 10k in June of this year. Am I a complete moron? Actually, in all seriousness, I’m goal-driven so if I have something to work for (other than health in general) I’ll work harder/stick with my goal. The run also happens to be the day before I turn 29 so that’s significant and all that junk. I’ve never run more than 3 miles so this will be REAL interesting. And by interesting I mean embarrassing, but hey–I’ll likely cross the finish line* so there’s that.

The Hourglass No 28 Lip Treatment Oil looks super hydrating!

You may notice a new sponsor on my sidebar. She sent me one of her double doodie bags and when I opened up the package I thought, “well this is exactly perfect!” With all David’s drooling, we often have a few wet bibs when we are out for awhile, so it’ll be perfect to stash the used bibs or shirts in while staying separated from the clean ones.

Have you ever given yourself a scalp treatment? Cara walks you through all the steps here!

I found a place to buy my Fossil watch (sold out at Fossil.com). Click here!

Justin and I are going to see American Sniper soon and I can’t wait!

My favorite black eyeliner by Cynthia Rowley is back in stock on Birchbox.com as a single (aka you don’t need do buy the sky blue/black duo).

Love the Zella leggings! And their hooded sweaters are some of the best I’ve ever bought. I have 3 already, and I’ll definitely pick up another one next time I’m in a city with a Nordstrom!

Zella leggings are the absolute best! They are thick enough that you can wear them with a longer top and some cute boots. Needless to say, they are perfect for the gym. I’ve had my first pair for over three years, although I’ve added to my collection since then.

I’m going to Sephora today…checking out the puff off. Have to see the “iron” in person.
Have to tell you I giggled out loud when I clicked on the “feelings” tee shirt. I suspect it should be a staple in every child’s wardrobe!

Kate!! You’ve got to tell us how the movie is!! I’m dying to see it but not sure if we’re going to be able to get a babysitter anytime this month in order to be able to go. I love Clint Eastwood films. I think he directed this one right?

I have heard great things about Zella but I am a Lululemon girl through and through so I have never given them a chance. With that price point I may have to! I always eyed the Run Cary race but was worried it would be too hot! I just read it starts in the evening which is amazing. I am putting it on my calendar now!!

I’m going to splurge on some Lululemon leggings soon! I just got a pair from Target that I’m loving (and they’re fleece lined which is perfect for upstate NY winters!).

I know a lot of people that swear by that brand–I don’t think you can go wrong!

Reply
Kate says · 01.18.15

You can go wrong – if you are over a size 6 don’t get Lulu. Run, run away.

That looks like a fun race! You will do awesome, runners world has free customizable training plans under smart coach, plus, there’s champagne at the finish?! That’s motivation enough for me πŸ™‚ Best wishes!

The Zella leggings are a MUST! I even told Grace the same thing. They have carried me through this fourth pregnancy, and I can’t wait to wear them a little more comfortably after baby!!

I love my Zella leggings… but they are a bit long on me (I’m 5’4″). I have a small and probably should have gotten an XS. So, I would recommend you try a couple of sizes. They were on sale during the anniversary sale last year so maybe they’ll do that again this year.

You can totally run a 10k! I’m training for my first race right now. Doing the Disney Princess 10k run at Disneyworld in about a month with my sisters and training for it has been soooo hard (I’m not a runner) but if I can do it, anyone can πŸ™‚

Jenny says · 01.16.15

A 10k! Woah. I have never done more than a 5k, and it about kills me every time. The last one I did was a mud-run 5k, in which I slipped and fell down a cliff (not embarrassing) and have been going to physical therapy ever since with a back and hip injury (it refuses to heal). I am also goal oriented, and I put things off if I don’t have something looming in the future like a 5k to keep me motivated to work out. Even if you have to run-walk, you’ll finish the 10k like a champ!

Hi Kate! I’m sure you already know this, but if you’re looking for fitness inspiration, check out Vivianna Does Makeup (http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/). She’s working on running a half marathon… I think… Anyways, she shares great information and has helped me get back into a fitness mode. Good luck, you’ll kick A$$!

The movie is AWESOME! It will really make you appreciate our troops (like that’s hard to do in the first place…) and also be thankful for what we have at home. Be prepared to cry a bit… or a lot πŸ™‚

Kate, I love the haircuts presented by ramirez/tran….but how would that be described to my stylist??? Also, how do you think the hair looks when it’s actually just washed and dried? I know they curl them on the website and I have terribly straight hair plus I’m a disaster with the curling iron..thanks for any advice you could give…

best,

I ran my first 10km having never run more than 5km before. I was fine, and you will be too! It’s surprising how much the adrenaline of a race can carry you through, and work on stores of energy that you don’t even know you have. I finished that first 10km and thought: ‘well that wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. A half marathon is only twice that far, I can do that.’ Now I’ve done two halfs, and I’m training for my third. Not that you’d know it to look at my body shape! It’s all in the mind πŸ™‚

My husband and I went and saw American Sniper last night. Wow!! It was a very hard one to watch. Like mentioned above, be prepared. It is very violent. But, it’s incredible. Bradley Cooper definitely deserves an Oscar!! And Sienna Miller nails it. As a police officers wife, I felt her fear. ***tears.

It’s a must see!!
