We’ve all moved onto 2015 with new hopes and plans but I’m still here reflecting on my beauty favorites from the past year.

That’s right folks, I managed to film a 2014 Beauty Favorites video. I am sure I’m forgetting about some product that I adored, but you can search through my monthly favorites if you want to see (in more detail) what I loved over the year!

I love that Julep nail treatment!

Actually Anastasia makes face contour powders, as well as a few eyeshadow palettes people really love! Lancome makes a great eyebrow pencil as well!

Kate, first off I love your blog!!! It has completely helped me from hair tutorials to applying makeup so thank you. This summer I purchased the younique 3d fiber lashes. It has been a game changer for me. Give it a try if you like
Thanks for all you do

Is the anthropologie lip color from the clothing/artsy / home decor store?

Yep there is a link above!

Yay! Love it when you do vlogs. I really appreciate these reviews. It’s so nice to get an honest review from someone you can trust before you go out and spend a ton of money on beauty products.

First off, I love you blog! I stumbled upon a couple weeks ago and fell in love. Second, Thank you for these videos! 🙂 I’m 28 and have used minimal make up my whole life because I could never find a shade that matched my janky skin so I just gave up. I read your Building your make up collection posts and bit the bullet and went into my local Sephora store for help. They were amazing and helped find me a whole bunch of products to work with my skin (Have you tried the Ren skin care line? It’s great!) , in additions to the items on my wish list that you had mentioned on your blog. So thank you for helping me get over my irrational fear of make up. Your tutorials are amazing for beginners! I’m learning to love make up instead of dread it 🙂

Hey Kate! Just wanted to let you know that I found myself talking to my computer screen and answering a question you asked about which Amika product you loved, lol. Just proves how personable you make this blog and I appreciate that! Thanks for your hard work on this blog, and your willingness to be authentic.

I also have and love the Los Cabos blush, would love to know where you bought your magnetic compact for it.

The naked basics palette is amazing! Loved this.. And even if it is a few weeks into 2015 I’m always happy to see favorites so don’t worry about that! 🙂

I’m so curious about the amount of cosmetics you have. If you try something and hate it do you give it away or throw it away immediately? Do you enjoy having a plethora to choose from? Or do you ever get overwhelmed by all the beauty stuff in the house? What does your husband think of it all? Do you organize it in any specific way? I love all the beauty goodies myself but sometimes find it difficult to keep it organized!

Also have you considered a reader poll as to what gender we think you are having?!

Hello when I watched this video I think you mentioned a tarte amazonian clay powder foundation. Could you please tell me if that’s what it was and what color you are in? I am pretty light skinned currently with it being winter but I have red undertones in my skin. I have been using bare minerals but would like to try a different foundation in power form that might be more full coverage. Thank you 🙂

Laurie says · 01.23.15

I would also like to know about the Tarte powder foundation. I didn’t see the link. What am I missing?
Thank you

Celsey says · 01.27.15

It is missing, I just checked and rewatched the video to make sure I heard her right. Then I wanted to see if someone else caught it and she posted to them. Guess not! Hoping it does get posted. I am very interested!

Hi Kate, thank you for taking the time to do this video! I feel like I have a shopping list now for my next trip to Sephora 😉

Pretty odd question … Obviously you use a lot of different products (both hair and makeup) and are probably washing your hands frequently … I find myself feeling like I can’t get my hands clean of certain products very easily … What hand soap do you go to in the mornings?

Courtney says · 01.22.15

Kate! Thanks for using so many cruelty free products–Tarte, Too Faced, Bite, Urban Decay, Sonia Kashuk, Hourglass, Anastasia (Not sure about Cargo or Anthropologie).

I love your blog and read daily!

hi Kate! I am really loving the products I’ve bought from your recommendations! I am going to have to try the Cargo blush. I recently tried the Tarte BB cream cause I’m not a huge fan of liquid foundations and love all Tarte products especially the powder foundation you mention here. The BB cream is so light and like a whipped feeling. A bit fuller coverage than most, love it so far!

Kaitlin says · 01.22.15

Even though we have different coloring (I’m brunette with more yellow/golden undertones), I took your suggestion and got the Cargo blush using birchbox points and it should be arriving tomorrow! I recently bought one of the Tarte blushes and was shocked to find out how much nicer it looked than the drugstore brand I had been using. As a graduate student I don’t have a huge budget for makeup but I’m slowly trying to convert over to nicer brands that will last a long time and wear better. Although I absolutely adore CoverGirl LashBlast (thanks to you!) and I’ve also found that at least for me, I’m happy with drugstore brand lip color options and the Ulta gel eyeliners as well. Love watching your videos and how genuine you come across in them! Thanks!!!

Miriam says · 01.22.15

Kate, I have found that Kohl’s now sells the Cargo brand in their makeup section! I purchased the Los Cabos blush about a month ago and absolutely love it!!

Um, I am dying to know what shadows you used on your eyes?!? You look lovely in this video! I’m hoping you used the Naked2 Basics since I just got that for Xmas. 🙂 I’m loving it too but still need to experiment. Really enjoyed this video!

Hi there! First off…I love your blog and all of your tutorials! Your blog was the first blog that I ever started following! Side note…I saw your room decor in the background of your 2014 Beauty Favorites video and was wondering if you could post a picture of your decorations. It looks so pretty from the small amount that you see in the video and would love to get some inspiration from you so I can finally decorate my spare bedroom 🙂

Thank you and you are awesome!

Great choices! I haven’t used anything other than Amika’s leave in oil which I thought was alright. I’ll have to check out the texture spray! I also love the sound of the Julep product. As for Bite, the new color is a strawberry shade. I have yet to test it!

I have that texture spray and it made my hair so sticky and weird. Maybe I’ll try to use it again.

Kate,
I love your channel. I am slowly getting into how to wear make up. Do a tutorial with naked basics 2 🙂

Stefanie says · 01.22.15

Hi Kate! I love your blog, and I love watching your favorites videos!! I just wanted to let you know that Julep just came out with an ivory shade of the Oxygen Nail Treatment… might be worth looking into. It does the same thing, but it’s a different shade (ivory instead of the pink/nude of the original).

“I’m not really dressed up or wearing anything else but my lips are on!” Favorite line. 🙂 I totally identify with that! If I don’t have some color on my lips, I’m not presentable. #deathlywhitelips

Do you know of a good, inexpensive make-up and mascara remover?

Reply
Christine says · 01.22.15

I would love to see you review Tarte’s new Tartelette eyeshadow palette. It has all matte neutral shades and I’ve seen a few reviews on it but would love to see your take on it…and maybe some tutorials with it. Tarte should pay you for the women you have gotten hooked on their products. I love their Amazonian clay powder so much and their blushes are the best! My favorite mascara is their gifted mascara. Haha! You created a Tarte monster!

Hi Kate!
So texture powder/spray is a very new product for me, but I’ve been planning on trying it out specifically for making braids look thicker, which I’ve seen it do on other blogs and such. But since it’s so new to me I was wondering what the major differences are between a texture powder and a texture spray? I’ve noticed you use powder in your hair tutorials and here you mention the spray. Thanks!!
