Have you noticed the Sonia Kashuk brushes shedding at all? I have the exact same blush brush and it sheds all over my face and I have to pick 3-4 hairs off my cheeks every single time.

I was really impressed with Benefit’s Push Up Liner, and have been using it daily since it came out. I found that it’s really easy, and doesn’t come off like some of my pencil liners had in the past, and hugs that lash line like no tomorrow! I use Almay eye-makeup remover to take it off, and it’s easy. Yes, it’s a little thicker and takes more time, but it’s still easy to remove. Even with the oil-free stuff that I have to use around my eyelash extensions on my eyelid.
I used to use the Lash Discovery mascara on my bottom lashes, and may start buying again since I really only need mascara there until I stop doing extensions on top. I always liked how it got every little lash!
Love the cat shots!! <3

I love maybelline lash discovery! It’s been my go to mascara for like 15 years. I have never gad flaking or fallout. I do use the waterproof one though. Looks like you choose the regular. Maybe try waterproof. ๐Ÿ™‚ otherwise for bottom lashes I love bare minerals only waterproof comes in a black tube. Or loreal butterfly mascara. Both have easy to use brushes for those lower small lashes. But again I always use waterproof. Easy to remove with almay makeup removing pads, non oil ones. And mascara says all day. Topcoat I use maybelline falseies. Or however you spell it. Love eye makeup!

Oh benefits they’re real push up liner is definitely thick and for a defined line. I’m liking it right now too. But my go to liquid liner is still maybelline stiletto. And completely agree about benefits they’re reall mascara. So much hype so many people with awesome lashes. But not me. It seems to clump my lashes and make them stick together. I prefer nice separated lashes.

The eye treatment with avocado!! Oh my word. I purchase any beauty products that contain avocado, so this is now on my wish list! Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

V says · 11.03.14

Loving the liner too! One major issue with it though…as you mentioned, it is SO HARD to remove. When I bought it, I saw that Benefit was also selling a makeup remover under the same brand name for like $22 and I thought, ‘why would anyone buy such expensive eye makeup remover!’. Well, now I know. You need some serious elbow grease to remove this liner. I guess it’s a pro and a con!

Kate,
You really need to try this mascara. I struggle with short stubby lashes and have a hard time finding a mascara I like and this mascara tops everything I have ever tried (including “They’re real!”).

Had been wondering about the Kielh’s eye cream and Sonia Kashik Brushes. I think I’ll give them a try!!

I am so glad that you said that Lash Discovery flakes off!! That stuff is a huge disappointment!
L’oreal Telescopic is def. worth a try. No flaking with that one.

Kate, i simply love starting my mornings off with your videos- it’s like a little girl chat while i drink my coffee and my little guy naps! Sometimes i talk and laugh back (prob shouldn’t have admitted that, lol) Anyways, I have the Clinique lower lash mascara, and while it’s good, i find myself wishing the brush was longer. It’s like 1/4in long and i find my lashes to be very segmented and piece-y. Instead, I use the L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza mascara. It’s got a long, fine-tooth rubber double comb that picks up those tiny little lashes and spreads them out- amazing for the lower lashes! No flakess, fallout, smudging, etc. Maybe worth a try! =)

I second the request for a “hot mess” tutorial! I love the casual, but done look of your hair in this video. It’s very “got things to do, don’t care, but I still look good” quality to it that I try to get everyday but no matter what I do, I end up looking overly done up and I can’t find that sweet spot of doing my hair but not looking like I’m trying so dang hard. Wow, this was long. Anyway, love the blog, love the videos!

I could not agree more about the Benefit They are Real mascara! I received a sample of it from Sephora as a free gift and I was so excited to give it a try. Not only did it make my eyelashes really stringy, it was also TERRIBLE to get off. Even after using makeup remover, it looked like I had been punched in the eye because the product just ran everywhere.

I hate mascara that flakes off! I received a sample tube of the Urban Decay Perversion in my Ipsy bag awhile back and was so excited to try it. My lashes looked so good with it! However, I didn’t do a test run and the first time I tried it, I wore it to work. About four hours after I had been there I went to the restroom and did a double take~~ there were flakes/specks all over my face! And not one person said a word to me!! I do wonder what causes mascara to flake as this was even a higher end brand…

Ditto on the hair. I just cut about 3 1/2 inches off and have the “lob” but oh my, how did you get that volume and curl! I had a 1 1/2 inch curling iron and it seemed too big. Bought a 1 inch, yikes way to tight of a curl. Took that back and have the 1 1/4 now. Please tell us which video to watch on your hair styling for this video or do another one. Also, I work at a salon (as a salon coordinator) and want that color. Can you tell me the formula so I may pass it along. Mine seems a little too gold right now.
P.S. – Also ditto on the cat shots!

Seriously, you think your hair is a hot mess?! The first thing I noticed was that your hair looks amazing! Have you changed the color? Love it! My favorite eye cream has to be the Origins Starting Over. It’s not heavy, but it packs alot of hydration. It even seems to help eyeshadow go on smoother. Great stuff! If your hands are severely dry, you should try Jฤ€Sร–N Aloe Hand & Body lotion. It’s a lifesaver ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi kate, loved the video! You’re hilarious, and I did watch all 20 minutes plus behind the scenes. The little commercial before your video was for cat litter. I thought that was so funny. YouTube must know you well! ๐Ÿ˜‰
PS: The blush you mentioned kind of looks like my favorite Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Glisten. Glisten may be a little more shimmery, but I love it. I would actually describe it exactly how you described the Cargo blush!

I’m evangelistic about eye cream to younger women. C’mon, girls, start early. I didn’t start until I was 30.
For the last few years I’ve used philosophy hope in a tube at night. It is THICK. The instructions are to “pave” it on. I look ridiculous but put it around my eyes and my mouth every night. It is crazy moisturizing. You don’t pat it in like most eye creams, but still use ring finger and pave.

I didn’t like “they’re real” mascara either! Made my sparse lashes all clumpy.

Chatty favorites = fave favorites

I received a free sample of this somewhere along the way. It is the BEST hand cream I have ever come across. I know its pricey, but trust me on this! My sample is in Shea Butter. It is smooth but not so heavy you feel like you can’t do anything for 20 minutes while it dries!

Hi! Love your kitties in this video! Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I recently got the bottom lash mascara by Clinique and it’s wonderful!! I think the Hot Mess look is totally in right now and YES we want a tutorial! You are so goofy and I love it, especially the strange Chinese music that went along with the kitty cat out-takes. Random! I also have my finger tips crack and split very deep during the winter and it is super, super painful. I’m trying to stay away from products that contain petroleum. Does the hand cream have petroleum in it? If so, what other suggestions might you have?
