Ah! We shared our love for Take It Outside on Twitter and I’m so glad to see it on here 🙂 I’m completely addicted to it.

Love this video, Kate! I actually just bought Urban Decay’s Naked2 Original Palette, but prior to that I was using a bone shade from Sephora, a free sample of some brown Clinique shades and some shimmery shades I bought for $2 at a bookstore. So yah. This girl was in serious need of some shadow. Thanks for reviewing! It’s my go-to filter before making beauty purchases.

Is the Healthy Mix Foundation the same as the Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation? I’ve been wanting to try Bourjois and now I am so confused what to get BC I think Estee uses the gel but you seem to really like the basic foundation. Ahhh! 😉

Reply
Kate says · 10.03.14

No, I do think they are different and I think you are right that she uses the serum. Whoops!

Reply
melissa says · 10.03.14

Haha! Darn. I wonder what the difference is.
And yessss to Bye Bye undereyes. Have you seen the It undereye corrector? I’m intrigued. The ladies at the Durham ulta talked me out of it…said it was heavy but with a 5 month old, heavy corrector may be where I need to be 😉

Heather says · 10.03.14

Lisa Eldridge has talked about the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation and she said that the serum formulation is better for normal to dry skin (like Estee’s), while the original Healthy Mix is better for normal to combination.

Have you ever tried any of the Suki Face products? Am interested in them and would love to hear some feedback. Also, Grits interruptions are the very best kind of interruptions. Love.

Wow, congrats on the magazine article, that ‘s awesome! I see Bethany Frankel is on the cover, I love her too! Will pick this up for sure. Curious.. where do you buy the Bourjois products?

Shopper Drug Mart carries Bourjois! At least the one I stopped at in Saskatchewan does!

I’m happy you mentioned the French foundation, I’m currently/temporarily living in France and haven’t tried many of the drugstore brands because I’m just not very familiar with them, but I may just have to give this foundation a try! Merci 🙂

Hey Kate!

Asos does have the Bourjois foundation, and if you’re interested in getting the serum version without the shipping and ever buy other stuff at Asos, they have free shipping on orders over $25 both ways.

It might be worth it if you’re still trying to build your maternity capsule! Also to get a cute outfit or two for the holiday season that’s coming up. 🙂

Ok. I NEED to try that ItCosmetics under eye cream. This mama’s dark circles need to be hidden! Unfortunately I am in Canada and we don’t have an Ulta store here.. I’ll have to do some searching! And if not.. A quick trip down to Fargo will be necessary! Thanks again for a great video Kate! 🙂

Is the Olay eye cream the ‘transforming’ or the ‘brightening cc eye cream’? These 2 are very similar and wanted to make sure which one you tried. After reading the descriptions a few weeks ago, I had actually thought it seemed a lot like the Origins eye cream! And since you’ve compared it to that….now I want to try it. Thanks!

Reply
Kate says · 10.03.14

The transforming cream is the one I used 🙂

Reply
Michelle says · 10.03.14

I love UD’s eye primer and was wondering how the Tarte one compared. I like that I can use the smallest dot of the UD one and it covers and keeps the UD shadows firmly in place. I totally agree with you on Mac being a bit better than UD on fallout, but I find the UD to be easier to get locally, so I tend to stick with that.

Another great video!

Essie’s Master Plan is another taupey-grey. The texture and application is nice too. Just a hint darker than Take it Outside!

The Tarte eye primer is the best! Shadow and eye liner looks exactly the same at the end of the day.

I was thinking about trying Take it Outside but thought it looked too much like Chinchilliy which I already own. Thanks! Love these videos!

Reply
Heather says · 10.03.14

I love Grits’ tail near the beginning of the video! I always want to buy the Healthy Mix foundation whenever Estee talks about it, but I’ve been able to resist since it’s not offered in the US. Now that you’ve tried and loved it, I’m thinking I’m going to have to give in. Some of the comments on YouTube recommended FeelUnique so I’m going to check it out there!

Sarah says · 10.03.14

OMG kate, you have to be kidding me!!!!! My cat, a male, named Titus, absolutely LOVES plastic too!!! I thought it was hilarious when i saw a cats tail on the left side of the video. I loved this video because your cat “ruined” it, LOL! My cat will vomit if he eats plastic, so i dont let him. 😉

Reply
Jenny Loo says · 10.03.14

Cats can also die if they eat plastic. They can choke. Would you let your baby play with a plastic bag and put it in their mouth to chew on? Here’s hoping not. Do yourselves a favor and don’t let your cats chew on plastic bags. PSA.

Reply
Sarah says · 10.04.14

I am well aware that cats can die from eating plastic– I just thought it was funny that it isn’t my cat that only does it– but Kate’s too. And no, of course not, not to mention I do not even have a baby. I hate it when people leave rude, sarcastic comments that sound like that person doesn’t know anything when they DO. Well aware my cat can die, choke, and vomit from eating plastic. :/ And its not my fault he likes it– my cat is extremely smart and knows where it is- be thankful I DO take it away and don’t let him eat it. Enough said. 🙁

Bye Bye Under Eye has a cult following and has for a few years. I tried it and it didn’t work for me at all. BUT that’s how products go. You have to try them to see what works with your own skin. SO glad you love it!

The original Naked Basics palette LOOKS a lot lighter than it is. Some of those shades that look light are pretty medium. I’ve used it for years and my only beef is most of the colors are super duper matte. I need a smidge of shimmer or I look muddy.

Random question. What do you do with all these products you try? It takes me about a year to get through one tube of foundation. I love that you try so many and I know it’s your job to do so as a blogger. Do you keep products? Where?!?!? Yes, I am a makeup junkie and have a ton of stuff under my bathroom sink.

I think Grits is jealous of your time in front of the camera. 🙂

FYI – Bourjois is produced by the same house that does Chanel. That’s why it’s wonderful! It can be purchased in Monoprix stores in Paris. It’s on my “to do list” the next time I go! Can’t wait to try it!

Hi! I live in the UK and we have a high street shop called Boots which sells Bourjous (& many other brands). Here’s a link to their website… They often to offers like but one get one half price or 3for2 so it makes it more economical and you get to try other products too! At the moment Boots are doing 2 for £14 on selected Bourjous products.

I have been using Bourjous Healthy mix serum in no52 and I think it’s great value for a high street brand.

I used to work for Bourjois…they WERE in the US in department stores for awhile, and it was such a fun brand. it’s under the Chanel umbrella of cosmetic lines. Fun fact, they actually invented the very first powder blush! It was used for stage. Thier eyeshadows and blushes are all baked (also the first company to do this) so they can be applied wet or dry. They used to be available through Sephora…I guess not anymore? The lip glosses and baked eyeshadows were favorites of mine. 🙂

Lacey says · 10.06.14

Kate! Now that you’re on the Bye Bye undereye bandwagon, you HAVE to try their other product- it’s called “eyelift in a tube”. It has the bye bye undereye on one side, and another product called “hello light” underye brightener, which you can use as an illuminator anywhere on your face. Both are SO great! I got it from Ulta, it was right next to the bye bye undereye in the IT cosmetics display. 🙂

Love a good Grits appearance!

I’m wearing Take it Outside right now… As a less-skilled polisher, I appreciate the thicker formula and felt like it went on really smoothly. I just checked my stash and yeah, I already had Chinchilly, but I rarely wear it. I have the kind of super pale, semi-translucent skin that makes any shade with the slightest hint of a purple undertone look very purple. Take it Outside reads way more as a true grey, which I love.

Oh, and if you’re up for trying more it cosmetics products, they do a “universal” eyebrow pencil. The color lightens/darkens depending on how hard you press, and it makes a really natural blonde shade (not ashy at all).

Hey Kate! I have recently found Bourjois products at the drugstores where I live in Canada. Maybe it will be hitting the states soon, or perhaps there is somewhere in Canada, a little closer to home, that ships it. Love your blog and I hope you are doing well!

Thank you so much for this video! I tend to find a product I like and stick with it for ages. It’s nice to try some new things but I never know what to try. As a mom of a four year old and a 7 month old I don’t have a lot of time;) I actually live in Paris so I went and got some of these products. I bought the Bourjois 123 perfect foundation in vanilla by mistake as I was in a rush. However it feels amazing on. I don’t wear a lot of makeup but it’s nice to use something that will cover the redness and sleepless look quickly. I primarily use bare minerals so I use the foundation primer then the foundation and top it off with the bare minerals mineral veil powder. My skin feels awesome and like nothing is on it! Thanks again!!!

I have the Naked Basics palette, I’m tempted to get the Naked2 as well, but I have way too many neutral eyeshadow palettes! I have the first two original Naked palettes, I’m still not sold on the 3rd one. I’ve heard other good reviews on the Naked2 Basics, I may have to check it out next time I’m at Sephora. 🙂

For those in the US looking to try the Bourjois and purchase it from britsuperstore (I’ll include the link at the bottom because it’s mega long. The shipping is slightly less than what Kate said she paid from Amazon (or I paid less a couple years ago…about $15 bucks versus her $25) and the shipping time was significantly less, too (again, a couple years a I experienced about 15 days versus her roughly 25 days I remember, that may be incorrect recollection). It has some other stuff that I like to purchase, too. The Boots pink curl creme is a favorite of mine that you cannot purchase in US. I little goes a very long way, so if you do decide to purchase, the 250 mL tub will last you absolutely forever. Sorry, completely off topic.

I think they sell that foundation (and others of that brand) on lookfantastic.com. And I believe they have free world wide shipping.
