Although my intention was to take photos every day (aka in real time) sometimes the weeks just don’t work like that. THUS, these were all taken in about 30 minutes on Monday.

However, the NICE thing about pre-shooting all my outfits for the week is it makes figuring out what I’m going to wearΒ realΒ easy.

It’s funny because I’m already feeling like I’m going to run out of creative ideas even though I’m only 5 days into it! And the goal isn’t to avoid re-wearing the same outfit necessarily, but I think I’ll have to start trying hard to get creative after a few weeks.

I’m glad that I’ve stuck with the neutral + cool color wardrobe concept. And accessorizing with jewelry and different hairstyles is going to go a long way in making an outfit feel “fresh”.

If there are any items that you see here that I either couldn’t link to because it’s sold out, or it was not online, I’d recommend checking out the website shopstyle.com. Whenever I’m looking for a very specific item (ex. “grey mini-wedge” or “cream 3/4 sleeve sweater”) I always go to that site first!

Are you doing your own capsule wardrobe? I’d love to see photos of your outfits! Tag them with #capsulewardrobe14 in instagram and twitter!

This definitely saves on time choosing outfits but I’m wondering if it just leaves you doing more laindry in the long run?

Very cute outfits, Kate. You look great. My guess is that this baby is a girl. You’re carrying different than you did with David. I know… old wives tale. πŸ™‚

Love the last outfit! I’m really looking forward to seeing your weekly outfits. I like the capsule concept, even though I feel I’m not ready for it yet… πŸ˜‰
By the way: your blog is awesome, I read it every day.

I like the third outfit too.
And I was thinking you look like you are having a girl too. But I am always wrong so take that with a grain of salt!

Hey Kate, you should totally invest in the app Stylebook. When I say invest, I mean the time. I think the app is only $4, but you take a pic of each item in your wardrobe, and use it like Cher’s closet in Clueless, just put some outfits together, mix and match digitally. Then you can save the “looks”, and add them to a date on your calendar! I go in on the first day of every month and plan out what I’m going to wear the rest of the month. It helps me design and accessorize new outfits without rummaging through my closet! My capsule wardrobe goes a lot farther when I can make sure I’m not wearing the same colors day after day, and can make sure somethings not in the wash when I need it!

I also love that you can add clothes to your want list, and go ahead and see how it would fit into your wardrobe while you’re at the store! The only thing is make sure to pick the right device, I did mine on my iPad, and can’t get it to transfer to my phone.

That sounds so cool! I’ve wanted something that will do that very thing. I’m going to check it out. Thanks for the tip!

I have the same problem! like i’m programmed to feel like I should never wear the same outfit twice. What i like about the capsule idea is that it almost gives my brain a “pass” or “excuse” to wear an outfit twice *gasp* a month to work. I never judge others at work repeating outfits…so I’m in!

Would you say the 9 West gray wedge shoes you’re wearing in outfit one are comfortable? Do they have any support in the sole? I am all about comfort over here … and am kind of a baby when it comes to comfort and I am not even pregnant! πŸ™‚

Reply
Kate says · 10.30.14

Yeah, I mean they are wedges so they are not as comfy as flats but they aren’t too high!

You inspired me to do a capsule wardrobe! I’m not very stylish so I don’t mind wearing the same outfit weeks in a row πŸ˜‰ you’re just about the cutest (pregnant or otherwise) lady I’ve ever seen! Love your blog! Thanks!

I just love this idea! I am getting a slow start on mine as 1.) we’re changing seasons & in the Midwest you just never know what the days will bring and 2.) I, too, am pregnant and am trying to be strategic in planning! But I’m very much looking forward to scaling down in this area.

Your outfits are great! They all have a different look to them. You did a great job!

I’m so impressed with your crazy month that you’re able to launch your capsule wardrobe too!! Amazing! Love the outfits so far. You won’t run out of ideas – confident. I’m in the middle of my own version, and taking all the outfit shots in one day is so helpful! Until your 12 month old runs away with the wireless shutter remote for your camera… I haven’t posted my week recap today because I’m missing one outfit! Gah!

I love this, Kate! I’ve been dabbling with the possibility of starting my own capsule wardrobe, but just found out I’m pregnant as well! Very excited, but unsure how this will work with my expanding belly. My biggest growth will be over some vast seasonal differences rather than a convenient fall/winter where I could hold over a good number of pieces. Debating going for layers with maternity tees and with cardis for cooler weather (cardigans are a staple of my wardrobe already to be honest) rather than buying any warmer maternity stuff. I hadn’t come across Pink Blush before, but it seems much more reasonably priced than many other stores, thank you!

I love the concept of a capsule wardrobe and you are setting the perfect example of one! I just read an article I loved on Gala Darling about her “daily uniform”, and that having to make less choices saves your decision making for creativity. I know this isn’t really a “uniform” but I feel like it has the same effect. Great post!

First off, you are super cute! Second, did you somehow add length to the necklace you are wearing in the last picture. I have that exact same necklace and mine doesn’t hang down near that low. I love the necklace but it lays at an awkward place on me. Love the blog!
