Bossa Nova me is such a cheeky name! πŸ™‚ I love the color! The Streak palette is on my wishlist but there are so many mixed reviews that I am holding back!

Love the Habit nail polish color!

Girrrrrrl have you tried Essie’s new color Urban Jungle from their summer line??? You would LOVE it. It’s a neutral but it’s the prettiest neutral I’ve ever worn. Even my husband, who doesn’t like neutral nail polish and prefers when I wear bright or dark colors, likes it!

And for the naptime landscaping noise – white noise fan. A simple white noise fan has saved my bacon when it comes to naptime. My boys don’t, like, NEED it to sleep but it has really helped them have their naps during the day when things are going on outside around us and we don’t have to tiptoe around the house. If you don’t already have white noise going in David’s room I’d highly recommend trying it out and see if it helps him stay asleep when the landscapers start going.

Well NOW I have to go find that one.

Yes. Yes you do. πŸ™‚ I also really like Haute in the Heat from the same collection. It’s a very deep bright pink, almost red. It’s on my toes right now and goes great with Urban Jungle!

I bought the Julep base coat but I haven’t tried the top coat yet. I’ll need to add it next time I place an order. I’ve been a Julep subscriber since last year, so lately I’ve been skipping every month. I love nail polish but I need to use some of it up!

Kate, I’ve been reading your blog for over two years and in recent weeks have come to wonder if you do anything besides review retail products? I understand you are no longer working behind the chair but i feel like your posts used to be infused with more creativity and ingenuity rather than product reviews. I know you said that the hair tutorials would be less but almost every post is about some type of retail item that needs to be bought. I don’t want this comment to sound rude because i love you! But I just wanted to let you know how a long time reader was perceiving the blog of late. Xoxo

Hi Lily, I’m been struggling with exhaustion, nausea, and lack of creativity lately and I know that’s translated into my blog posts. Content is going to change over time. It is not my intention to exclusively do product reviews, but that’s been simple to accomplish over these past few weeks. Thanks for your input!

You seem quite annoyed at a lot of things lately, so maybe it’s time to take some time for yourself and your exhaustion. We come to your blog for positive content, but when you spend over 3 minutes in your 20 min beauty video griping about landscapers just doing their job, it’s not that enjoyable.

Thank you for Replying Kate! I love you and I’ll still read every day, even if it were just a page full of dots…feel better! πŸ™‚ <3

I have recently found your blog and I binge read/watched it over the last week. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these videos and you are truly hilarious. Congrats on your new addition. I have a 10 month old little boy so I enjoy reading about your products for David as well.

Sometimes I get scared to watch these videos because I know I’ll “have” to buy something.. going after that Tarte primer next! πŸ™‚

I have the Essie color and LOVE IT!!! I also cancelled my Julep subscription recently. I felt the same way. The colors are beautiful but regardless of what style I would select, they were not colors I would wear. But I agree the base and top coat are amazing. I did buy at Target a few days ago Sally Hansen Miracle Gel set, which is suppose to last 14 days. We shall see. Like you my hands are constantly doing dishes or cleaning something. Anyway…. thank you for another GREAT video! And congratulations to the addition of your family : ) So excited for you, Justin and that cutie pie, David.

Tarte seems to be on the ball lately! So many great products I want to try.
Also as a mom of 4, I totally agree with the suggestion about white noise…it’s been a LIFESAVER. We don’t have an HOA but there’s always someone who feels the need to ring the doorbell & get our hound dog all in a tizzy

I love the monthly favorite videos! Just thought I would mention a fun new product that I just recently tried and LOVED. It’s called Jamberry (http://www.jamberrynails.net/). They have adorable nail wraps that work for both fingers and toes as well as polishes, and they last FOREVER! They also have a monthly subscription box, which I haven’t tried yet. Anyway, something kinda fun I recently found. πŸ™‚
Congrats on your big announcement! Those pictures of David were darling!

Based on your reviews I tried the Julep box and I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, but I hated the nail polish. It came out incredibly thick and almost goopy and it chipped in less than 12 hours all three times I tried it! Any suggestions?

Kate, I have been following you from the beginning!!! I have to say, I don’t know if it’s pregnancy (Congratulations, again BTW!!!) or your overall happiness, full of love or what but you have never looked better! You are radiant!!!!!!!!!!! Just had to tell you!

Love your video reviews! Thanks for sharing πŸ™‚ My favorite out of the lot would probably be the Julep polishes πŸ™‚ Could you also review Vain Pursuits? I’d love to hear what you have to say about them!

Congrats on your newest addition to your lovely family! My sister and I are 14 months apart and were/still are the best of friends! We were known as ‘Frick and Frack’…we went and did everything together. I’m hoping you’ll have the same experience with your two (regardless of sex). You are truly blessed! Thanks for all your wonderful blog posts. I open my mailbox early in the afternoon everyday to find yours and can’t wait to read it. Sending positive intentions for an uneventful pregnancy! You look amazing!

Great products. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on the new addition. 2 kiddos are so much fun. Just a tip, Put a sound machine, we use a Conair one in both of our kids rooms, set on white noise and they sleep like a dream at nap and bedtime. It cancels out, outside noise. I live in a relatively quiet neighborhood, but like you, when the landscapers come through to do the community yards, it is during that time frame. My kids never wake up.

Hey Kate, big congrats on the new baby and thanks for all the great product recommendations–you make me want to try new things! I have to ask, what is the lovely shade of lipstick you are wearing in this video and where did you get your lovely earrings? Gorgeous! Love ya!

I love everything about your blog! Seriously it makes me want to have one of my own, even though I have no idea what I would write about! I also share your love of nail polish and also your hate of chipped polish too! I recently became a Jamberry consultant for this very reason! My first manicure lasted 10 days and I was so impressed! You should check it out!

As an infant teacher since the age of 19 and a mom of two hard-core nappers, I can provide you with plenty of anecdotal evidence that you’re NOT at all paranoid: the landscaping gods hate naptime. They do. They really, really do.

Hey Kate, I can’t remember exactly when or how I found your blog, but I’ve been reading it daily since I stumbled upon it. I haven’t, however, watched many of your videos (just because I typically don’t take the time for that). But I’ve watched the last couple and you literally make me laugh out loud. Love it. Thanks for being authentic.

Love these videos!! Question: would the tarte primer work for powder foundation or does it only work for liquid? Thanks!!!

Reply
Lorrie Carey says · 08.10.14

Have really enjoyed your tutorials on hairdos; have tried a couple and always get compliments. Like Kelly, was also wondering if the tarte primer works with mineral powder foundation. Was also wondering if it could double as an eye shadow primer. I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to makeup – the less strokes and products, the better. Thanks!
