Summer skin: from your head to your toes

1. Clarisonic Mia, 2. Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Heads, 3. Jouer Brightening Powder and Mac powder brush, 4. Refreshing Gel Cleanser, 5. Deep Pore Daily Cleanser, 6. Pedi Wet-Dry Brush Head,  7. Essie nail polish, 8. Pedi Disk, 9. Pedi-Buff Cleanser

In the early days of this here blog I did a little review of my Clarisonic Mia. I did a great deal of research prior to purchasing, and ultimately was really glad that I bought it! I used it then more regularly than I do now. My skin need a little bit more TLC a few years ago than it does these days, and I’m very grateful for that!

Anyway, I still use it occasionally to help with a deep exfoliation because despite the season I have perpetually dry skin. I can tell the difference in the stimulation that the Clarisonic Mia gives with an exfoliating product versus simply using my fingers.

Clarisonic now has products to help give you an indulgent at home pedicure. This is something I desperately need that I never make time for! During that last few months of my pregnancy last year I got a few pedicures and it was pure heaven. It’s a little bit more challenging to get away for one these days, but I definitely have time in the evening or during a nap to give my feet a little treatment.

With so many brush heads and cleanser options, it’s probably a good idea to talk to an expert before you buy. I’ve found Nordstrom to be a great place to ask questions about a product because there are so many different brands there, and the employee’s really know their stuff!

It’s, without a doubt, a splurgy purchase, but it is a worthy investment in my opinion. Taking care of the skin on your face makes a huge difference in how your makeup applies and wears. And regular foot care? Well that never hurt anybody either. Although, while we are talking about it, does anyone else hate the scraping that the nail tech’s do at the salon? I always opt out of it because it irritates me to no end. I’d rather exfoliate at home, and the Pedi Disk would be exactly what I need.

With sandal season here, and makeup trends leaning toward “lighter coverage” for summer, it’s crucial that I keep my skin, from my head to my toes, in great shape.

I also was spoiled with pedicures during my pregnancy. I can’t do my nails as nice as they did. But maybe this would help me exfoliat like they do. I definitely need some face exfoliation 🙁 my skin is so temperamental,

Great post! Love the nail polish color! Do you have any recommendations for a face sunscreen?

Great post! Can you use the pedi brush head with your Clarisonic Mia or do you have to purchase a seperate system?

Love your blog!

It looks like there is a separate device for it!

I personally have a hard time doing my own pedicure. I just cannot get my toes to look like the salons do. But my main reason is because every time I do my own toes my back really hurts during and after!

Are the pedi heads compatible with the regular clarisonic or is it necessary to buy the actual pedi machine? I had read a review that said the pedi head would ruin a standard clarisonic and the device was necessary. Clearly, I trust Nordies on this one! 🙂

Kate, How does the battery held up for you during these years? I have read reviews about the battery dying after the first year.

I got a Clarisonic Pro as a gift for my birthday and the battery last just over a year. It made me mad and I haven’t bought another because of this. I mean the Pro was over $100 and the life span should have been longer. That is just my experience.

I’ve had my Clarisonic Mia since January 2013 & its still going strong. I hope I didn’t just jinx myself…

I have the very first version (not the Mia) and it’s held up since 2009 and still going strong!

After using for a month, I returned my Clarisonic. It’s the second time I’ve tried it and still didn’t love it for such an investment. I read a bazillion reviews and people seem to love it until it’s done with its live which seems about 2-3 years and the company doesn’t back up their product. That’s a bummer.

I’m so glad you like it and so many others do. I wish that had been my experience.

This does seem like a great way to do at home pedis… I just wish I didn’t have to buy a separate system!

FYI in regards to the scraping comment, I had a pedicurist tell me to just use a product like Dr Scholl’s heavy overnight foot cream (or some such name) and frankly, after 1 or 2 uses, there was no need for a foot bottom scraping. Granted, you’d need to keep using the product on a regular basis, as long as you’re feet are constantly exposed. But its well worth it.

I’ve been thinking about buying this but is it really that much better than using a really good scrub/exfoliant face wash used with your fingers?

Reply
Heather says · 06.24.14

Your fingers alone wouldn’t do much exfoliating, just the facewash you use if its an exfoliator or just using a rag helps exfoliate the skin. I would say that using the clarisonic versus just fingers and an exfoliator should make a pretty big difference.

I think it’s really neat that they came out with a pedicure product! What do you think though about the clarisonic vs. the 20 or so dollar ones they sell at Target (like the one neutrogena made I think it’s called the wave). I’ve read that they’re highly comparable for a small fraction of the price. Only thing is you can’t keep it in the shower but I wouldn’t want to do that anyway lol. Any thoughts?

I’ve been wanting to try the Clarisonic for a long time now, I just haven’t brought myself to make the purchase! I need to start exfoliating more often, even though I do take care of my skin, it’s one thing I truly lack in my routine. Plus, anything quick and easy is good in my book. I think I may just have to splurge on one of these. Thanks for the reminder!

My boyfriend gave me the Clarisonic Pedi for Christmas and I love it. You can tell a difference after one use, not perfect baby feet, but much better. It would probably work perfectly if I used it every day the way you’re supposed to, but I tend to get lazy. You can’t use the pedi attachments with a regular Clarisonic BTW, they aren’t compatible. It’s an investment, but I think it’s worth the $$.

I think they literally use cheese graters at my nail salon…ugh! The skin on my toes and heels is so unhappy because I don’t think nature intended us to have our excess skin gnawed off like that. When I ask for “no grater” the nail ladies look at my with horror! I think you’re on to something with the pedi disk.

I tried the clerisonic for 3 weeks and really didn’t like it. I had the most sensitive head they make for it and used Philosophy purity cleanser with it and It hurt my face really bad. I took it back and got my money back. I will stick to a cloth and my cleanser. I wish it would have worked for me but I guess my skin is too delicate for such a devise.

Love your blog.

Hi Kate! I have followed your blog for a couple years now and love all of your product reviews and hair tutorials, of course! I was hoping you could do a review of Rodan and Fields skin care products for me. I will be happy to send you a regimen of your choice and I am certain you will love the products. And you can use them with your clarisonic! Rodan and Fields are the doctors that brought us Proactive and now they have 4 skin regimens focusing on fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, sensitive skin and adult acne. The products are only sold through consultants so let me know if you are interested in trying! I would love your opinion!

Thanks for your time!
