I have a couple of new discoveries as well as old favorites in my monthly favorites video. I’m on a mission to get my hair healthier and it’s a 10 is doing that for me.

Pink-y orange nails, neutral cream shadows and an amazing face exfoliator also made the cut!

Hi Kate. Since you enjoy trying so many new products and cosmetics, I thought I’d share this website. It is a cosmetics database which tells you the safety or harmfulness of products such as make up, lotions, shampoo, sunscreens, etc. It rates their ingredients as far as cancer causing chemicals, allergy, toxicity to reproductive organs, etc. It has helped me choose safe products for my family. Very helpful. I hope it helps.

Hello Kate!

Love the way your eye makeup is looking today! Just wondering if you used a powder shadow in the crease today over the cream and if so what was it??

Thanks!

I’m glad I’m not the only one recently disappointed in Ulta shower gel. I recently bought it in another scent in one of the slightly larger sizes that come with a pump (so I don’t have your problem of squeezing) but the shower gel itself has disappointed me. I’m used to Bath and Body Work quality, and this has not measured up. I feel like I have to used three times as much to get the same lather, and the gel just feels watery to me. I wok never be buying it again. Ok rant over 🙂

You must try the Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle! It’s a great leave-in conditioner/hair protector type spray and it smells amazing! It’s my new favorite thing, and it even works great on tangly, little girl’s hair.

Kate..sorry if I missed what primer you use with the Revlon cream shadows, but if you could explain how you apply them,I’d appreciate it. I used TFSI,then the Revlon cream shadows, then lightly applied face powder. They creased the moment I applied and then the powder just made them roll off! I’ve tried with primer, without primer, with powder, without, etc. What am I doing wrong?

Question…
Do you have a tutorial on how to use under eye concealer bc whenever I use it, it looks cakey and makes me look even older, NOT better. 🙁 I.e how to pick a color for your skin, do you pick a shade lighter than your skin or do you stay in the same color palette as your skin and how do you apply to not get that cakey old look. I put moisturizer on then concealer I got from Clinique which I worked with a consultant and am always disappointed… Any recommendations would be helpful!!

I will have to look for the concealer next time I am in Target, sounds great. I have found it difficult to find a concealer that does not look cakey or unnatural. Will try this for sure.

I loved that! I think you should file it under “comedy” because as a SAHM I loved watching you squeeze 30 minutes of talking into 11 minutes of video.

“My hair is dry as crap.” Has to be my favorite part because MY hair is dry as crap. I used to use that exact It’s a 10 leave in conditioner and forgot how much I loved it. It must have worked so well that I stopped using it and forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂

It was hilarious when you called yourself rude when your phone rang too. Had me laughing so hard.

I was just thinking yesterday that I wish I could find a drugstore eyeshadow that I like as much as my Lancome eyeshadow. How hard can it be, right?! So glad you found one. I can’t wait to try it!

Hey!!! Love this!! Ok, so I have been using Its a 10 deep conditioner, twice a week, .. LOVE LOVE LOVE…. not heavy… may have to try the leave in conditioner…
so, you may want to try MAC PREP+ PRIME highlighter in Radiant Rose…. it is the bomb.
I have horrible under eye circles too, and I use the Bobbie Brown concealor you recommend… then I put some Estee lauder Double Wear concealor in light, use my Beauty Blender to soften it… then my foundation (Mark Jacobs) AND THEN the Mac highlighter in Randiant Rose. Can’t say enough about it….
I’m going to go check out the Revlon creme shadows today…. whoo hoo…
Have a great Weekend!!!

Y’know after I had my first baby I had a lot of the same problems with my hair and skin (dumb hormones). I had to totally change the way I did everything for a while! If you’re dealing with flakiness under your eyes I highly highly HIGHLY recommend using a good eye creme. They’re not just a gimmick, they really work. They can also help with the dark circles so you won’t need as much concealer. As for your hair, mine did the same thing and I had to go to washing it only every other day for a while and give it a break. It didn’t stay like that forever fortunately. 🙂

I have a random question and I didn’t know where to ask it! My question is: are there any products that actually help your hair grow faster?
I’m growing mine out, and it is healthy, moisturized, and never been colored. My hair grows at a regular pace, but I’m getting a little impatient with it since I want it to be another six or so inches longer 🙂

Hi Kate

I am always looking forward to your monthly favourites! I have the same problem with under-eye circles (I have a 4 month old baby…) and just started using the Bobbi Brown corrector, thanks to your recommendation. It works a treat so thank you! I also LOVE the ORIGINS GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer is a great cheap alternative with good coverage. What is the name of the concealer you mention in the video? (is it just my sleep-deprived blurry eyes that can’t see the link to it above?) Thanks again!

I got “It’s a 10” miracle leave-in Keratin sample (which apparently is different from the one you mention here) last time I was at Ulta. I got the full size, too. But it was way too heavy for me. It might be good for people with thinner hair, but it made my very thick hair even thicker and left a gross residue that made my hair feel kind of dirty.

Thanks for the Sonia Kashuk recommendation – am defiantly going to get it next time I’m at Target.

And I would just put the shower gel away, use up the next bottle of gel, then put the Ulta stuff in that empty bottle. It would save my sanity! I can’t stand that.

Kate, I share in your opinion of drugstore eyeshadow! I have recently discovered Make-up Geek eyeshadow. You order online, but it’s only $5.99 and very comparable to Mac or Urban Decay. It is highly pigmented and goes on smooth. For a Mac junkie, I was very impressed. Maybe you’ve already heard of it, but if not, it’s worth a try in my opinion,

I will defiantly be going to target this weekend to try that under eye concealer. I have been having the same dry under eye problem. Its so frustrating. I did get some eye cream from the brand fresh from Sephora and it is helping but I wonder if its just the concealer that i am wearing. Will be trying something new. thanks for sharing.

Great video, Kate! I have just started using It’s a 10 the past few weeks and LOVE IT. Wanted to give you a quick body wash suggestion, especially if you like the St. Ives moisturizer in the coconut scent you just posted about. I’ve been using their body wash in the Indulgent Coconut Milk scent the past few months and am in love. Very moisturizing and the scent is light and feels so good! Best part is you can get it at Target for less than $4, and the bottle has lasted me almost 4 months! I had to share!

Kate: I am so thrilled to have found your blog. You videos are great and like the other said, they are very relaxing to watch….very informative. David and Grits just could not be cuter!!!!! They are precious! I am very interested in your process of “working on” your dry hair. Any words of wisdom to remedy dry damaged hair would be greatly appreciated. For years, I have used Aveda products, but I have officially fired them and have migrated to using your excellent suggestions for hair care, products and equipment. I use coconut oil mask at least once a week and now looking for a hair care routine to assist my colored, dry and damaged hair grow out in a healthy way (blonde, just above the bra). For a start, I purchased KMS Free Style and will buy the”Its a 10″ leave in conditioner…..would love to hear more about your journey to healthier hair and the product and techniques used to get there. Thank you and again, I love your blog and your recommendations are spot on.

I’d love to send you a free mini-facial {you’ll love the night serum!} as a thank you for all your amazing tutorials. The nail polish is just perfect… I wanted something that wasn’t too red, but also wasn’t too pink and it’s the best combo. I had to post another comment on this one. I bought the Revlon creme shadows and you’re right. They are wonderful. I did find that I like them better if I put on two very thin coats rather than trying to get full coverage with one coat. Thanks for the great product. I was just about to go buy some creme shadow from Lancome so this saved me some cash. 🙂
