Top Beauty Discoveries of 2013

I love trying new beauty products.

If you’ve visited the blog before, this should not surprise you.

So I thought I would look over the past year and round up my favorite beauty discoveries. It was hard to narrow the list down to just a few, but I did it. I could add about 25 more products to it, but I thought I’d try to keep it at a reasonable number.

These are all products I’ve really come to enjoy. They deliver on what they promise and I would highly recommend them.

Do you have a favorite beauty discovery from 2013? I’d love to hear what it is!

I love the Neutrongena hair mask as a once in a while conditioner. Also I just switched to the Estée Lauder foundation you mentioned (I was tired of Mac makeup being such a distance from me, and EL is right in my town), and I love it!

I am thinking of replacing my Arbonne RE9 toner with the Caudalie Beauty Elixer…I love the pure ingredients its made of.

After you had used the Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Mousse in a tutorial (along with Aquage), I started using it daily and it has definitely pumped up my normal limp locks. On days that I don’t use it, my hair is so blah… and can’t remember how I managed to not use anything in my hair like this in the past.

I love the 2 Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes that I got in 2013. Well really 2013 was my discovery of Tarte cosmetics in general and I love all of the ones I have tried so far.

I use Shea Moisture products from Target, they are great for my hair and very affordable. I’m still crazy about Ruby Woo lipstick by MAC.

So funny, I did an almost identical post today, but with completely different products. Also, I was unable to narrow it down like you so I decided to do my makeup faves today, skin care tomorrow and hair on Friday. I think it is fun to see the different products different people like. I will definitely give some of yours a try – I have been dying to try the Benefit primer. Maybe check out my picks to compare:

I love the CND Vinylux and the Loreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara too. Both which I tried out based on your recommendation. My other favorite beauty product this year, is probably Elf’s Essential All Over Color Stick. It’s a great cream blush for only $3!!

Happy New Year!!

I bought a bottle of Bioderma Crealine H2O in Paris this summer and fell in love! It removes all eye makeup beautifully and is very gentle. It’s super cheap in France and I’m sorry I didn’t stock up. You can get it for about $30 on amazon. I’m also loving the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. And, thanks to you, CND Vinylux is one of my faves of 2013 too.

My hairdresser recommended the Forever Blonde line from Paul Mitchell and it has made a huge difference! I have long, fine, & colored hair which usually makes for a tangled mess. But since I started using the Forever Blonde I can easily brush through my long hair and my hair looks so much healthier!

Kate I love your blog. I have a question for you. i recently went to a salon and had high lights and low lights put into my hair. (a blond and a brown) I have a dirty dish water blonde hair. my question is i have heard that you can use baking soda to keep your blonde highlights bright. do you agree with this and if not can you give some advice on caring for high lights salon products and drug store brands thank you soooooo much

Me too, my under eyes became so dry when I became pregnant in the fall and this was the only thing that helped keep them from flaking away!

Suave dry shampoo has been a godsend this year! I love the smell (of the regular, as well as the Keratin infusion) and it makes my hair look fantastic when I’m too busy to wash/dry/style. Thanks for these tips! I figure that if a product impresses Kate, the Pinterest hair girl, then it must be a good one!

One of my favorites for the dry skin I experience in winter is CeraVe’s “PM lotion”. I use it nightly and it works wonders for dry, flaky skin. I’ve been using Estée Lauder Double Wear for over a year now, and it’s a must have for me. As a hygienist, I wear a mask all day. It’s the only foundation I’ve found that doesn’t wear off on my mask. Happy New Year to you & your sweet little family!

Stay matte by Rimmel has been my favorite find this year. It’s perfect for shiney or oily skin. Or if you just want a nice matte finish!

I discovered Miss Jessie’s Creme de la Creme conditioner and it is the absolute best thing I have ever used. It has worked miracles for my poor, over-processed long hair. I feel like a supermodel when I use it. I also discovered Josie Maran Argan Oil. It has transformed my dry skin. Love.

I love the CND Vinylux but have found with constant use, it has made my nails VERY VERY dry & caused them to peel. I have had to stop using it while the damaged nail bed grows out. Disappointed 🙁

I’ve sampled the Flawless primer and it’s good stuff. I think L’Oreal makes the best mascaras out there (and they’re affordable).

I’ve tried the Benefit primer as well, and I’m on my fourth(ish) tube because it keeps crumbling! I also find that it causes my makeup to cake in one area (I use Tarte foundation)… so I went back to my Mary Kay. Have you found this? Any thoughts?

Oh my gosh I must be the only person who HATES the Benefit primer! I thought it looked cake-y, especially mixed with the Benefit foundation (which is so sheer I couldn’t figure out the point of using it).I kept using it because I didn’t want to waste my money, but I was also disappointed with how quickly it ran out, I thought that for the price it would last a little bit longer. Oh well. You win some, you lose some!

Some ladies are asserting a facial exercise/muscle invigorating attempts to reduce the Nasolabial Folds Treatment Delhi. Likewise, a couple of report that a golden light mechanism has made a difference.

I love love love my benefit stay flawless primer. I am a sucker for benefit products and with had been wanting to try this since it first came out. I got a gift card for Christmas and this was my first pick. The first few times that I used this product I was disappointed, I did not like the texture of the product and I felt like my face looked cake-y. Determined to not waste $32, I put on less of the product and blended it with my finger tips. Then I put on my BB Cream and then……. I FELL IN LOVE! It looked amazing, and the staying power of my makeup is unbelievable 🙂
