My Beauty Tip: With a Red Lip, Keep it Simple

30 weeks pregnant
top: Pea in the Pod (can’t find online!)
necklace: Elisabeth Ashlie (very old, no longer available)
boots: Loft (last season, oos)
You don’t even want to know how muggy and dreary it was outside on the day I took these.

In other news, I think I’ve reached the “hot” point of pregnancy.

I’m a toasty 10 degrees warmer than I’d rather be at any given moment. I’m not complaining either, I get it. There’s a human inside of me. My body is working over-time to help nourish and support this growing baby.

I’m just hot. That’s all.

Then put me behind a chair, blowdryer going and moving around all fast? That’s when I know there’s no cooling down until I get home and chill out.

I feel for you if you were pregnant during a north carolina summer. Specifically the one where it was about 100 degrees everyday.

I’m thankful to be moving into a cooler season as I continue to grow and carry this baby. Maybe it will help balance out the heat waves that are constantly emanating from my person.

This is not the kind of post where you should leave a comment telling me your temperature never returned to normal after having babies. I’m hanging on to hope here people! Tell me lies!

I went back to normal quickly too; and remember feeling like I was suddenly cold natured after my daughter was born! She was born mid July 2 years ago (we’re also in NC) and I remember freezing with our air at it’s normal setting a few weeks after her birth. It was very nice after being so hot all the time! It’s chilly today so here’s hoping you’re more comfortable! 🙂

It was the same way for me with my first. However, she is still a furnace. Cuddling with her for long causes me to overheat.

I feel 10 degrees warmer than I’d like to be at any given moment… and I’m not pregnant. So I hope whenever that does happen, I’ll have my last months pregnant during the winter. Or move very far north. Either way.
Very cute photos by the way! 🙂

Your body temperature does return to normal eventually but just be prepared for the night sweats you’ll have for a month or two post-partum when your hormones are shifting. That kind of bites but hey, you have a baby! That’s worth every single then, every single time. 😉

Very true and I wished I’d been prepared and warned about it. Gross! Had to wrap my pillow in towels and put under my sheets. By it was so worth it! Every bit of pregnancy aftermath was with it when the baby I’d prayed for for 22 was sleeping in the bassinet (ok, let’s be real here…in bed) next to me! Good luck girl!

That shirt is very cute! I will have to look around for something like that, that’s non-maternity. My second baby was born at the end of July… and I live in Maryland. It was pretty miserable for a couple months, so I completely empathize with you. I did go back to my old temperature afterward, though, with both my kids, so there is still hope. Hope all goes well with the rest of your pregnancy.

Beautiful outfit, as always. I remember having a stomp-my-feet-bursting-into-tears tantrum when I was pregnant and I was so miserably hot and I was begging my husband to turn down the AC in the house. It is really tough some times to be be pregnant. I imagine being on your feet, behind a hair dryer makes it even worse. I love your blog.

If it makes you feel any better, I have not been warm since my son was born 3.5 years ago. Well I get hot in the Alabama summer but I became super cold natured after he was born. I have a space heater running in my office right now.

Um, hi, I would be one of those lucky ones to be in the third trimester through a Carolina summer! I just gave birth at the end of September — just in time for the weather to cool! 🙂 You are a champ for working that hair dryer — I stopped blow-drying my hair because as soon as I finished, I was a sweaty mess again! Still, once you see that sweet face, you’ll forgive him anything.

Good news – temps will go back to normal! Bad news – pregnancy brain just turns into mommy brain! Lol! 😉 I loved the first time around that I had a February baby and did not have to be 9 mos preggo in the hot months. The second time around I had the baby in June, and I was extremely happy I didn’t have to endure the hot midwestern humidity in the huge stage. It was bad enough in June.

You are adorable. Looking good, mama!

I was crazy hot when I was pregnant. My husband tells horror stories about how I would open every window in the house. In the winter. In Maine! Yes, I did.

Oddly enough, I am now (11 years later) colder than ever. Always.

Temperatures are funny things. Up and down. You won’t always stay where you are. Hope is alive and well. You look fabulous!

I feel like it’s also the extra effort it takes to just move normally that makes us so not during pregnancy! 34 weeks and so slow….I constantly have the fan on in our bedroom at night because of it. But I don’t remember having temperature issues after the first so I do think it’s just the extra weight and effort. Ugh. (Can you tell it was a rough morning!)

You could not be any cuter! For me the temp thing keeps going back and forth. I was hot when I was having babies…then I was cold for a few years but now that I’m 41…I’m back to hot again. Hopefully, this is a phase and not my forever situation.
P.S. I LOVE your hair. I was growing my hair right along with you but now I want to cut it like your! I have 3 teen girls who would like to see me leave it long though. I think I’m too old to have it this long. The pictures of yours are killing me though….so cute!

Lots of things thankfully go back to normal! I worried about that even with my third pregnancy, but alas, all was well shortly after. You’ll probably worry about that with a lot of things…
Air conditioning is a wonderful thing, even if others are freezing!

My youngest was born in the middle of August 3 years ago. Obviously I know there are more hot and humid climates than Arkansas in the “hottest summer on record”, but at the time I just knew we were living on the equator! I spent a lot of time soaking my feet and legs in icy cold water and eating as many water based fruits (watermelon and grapes were my fav) as I could get my hands on.

My husband and I joke that our daughter stole all my heat. I was pregnant winter – summer and freezing cold the entire time and it seriously has not changed. But our little one is a heat machine! When she decides to fall asleep on you its like having the sun in your lap.

I found your blog recently from a link someone posted on theirs. I don’t usually read beauty blogs but stuck around since I’m pregnant as well and anyone pregnant who blogs tends to interest me. haha!

My temperature returned to normal pretty much the day I had my baby. All four of them (yes I’m pregnant with my fifth at 30 yrs old!) actually! Everything terrible about pregnancy stopped the day after I had my babies!! It’s a WONDERFUL feeling. haha!

You do get the “sweats” if you breastfeed. Well, even if you don’t breastfeed you can get the sweats. But it’s different. It’s almost like your body just purging all the water weight it holds onto while pregnant and less about the temperature. It only lasts a couple weeks, too! And without a giant belly and all the other yucky stuff of pregnancy it’s no big deal 🙂

Anyway, you look totally adorable and I’m glad (for me too) that the weather is cooling down!! It’s such a relief. Especially because the further you get into pregnancy, the hotter!! Ack.

I was pregnant throughout the hottest of NC summers with both of my girls (even after specifically trying to avoid that the second time round). You know how hot Raleigh gets in the summer, so I was pretty miserable! You should return to normal soon after he arrives! You look great by the way!

I get it. It was my feet I tell you!! I was very pregnant with my first in summer time and my feet felt like they had their own heating system and it was stuck on HOT. My feet did get back to normal. You will be fine. 🙂

I have a son whose birthday is in April – NEVER needed a jacket that winter… and my daughter was born in September – after a HOT summer in which I was working in youth ministry, which meant a week of church camp. Good times. Immediately after I had my daughter, though, BOTH our temps dropped. I had chills like crazy and they had to take her to the incubator to warm her up. Crazy how those tiny little things change our bodies so much!! It’s so incredibly MAGICAL!!! 🙂

I’ve been reading your blog for a long time now – and I love it. Thank you for sharing bits of your life with the world 🙂

I just want to say how beautiful you look and let you in on a pregnancy secret that no one told me. I felt like I was gaining weight everywhere, my legs were bigger, my arms were bigger but I only gained 17lbs the whole pregnancy. I kept thinking “why are my thighs so huge?”. I discovered after I had my son that it was all the extra fluid and blood I had on board to support baby and me together. Once I delivered and lost all the extra fluid my legs and arms went back to normal. I had no idea that would happen, I wish I had known it when I was pregnant, I was so worried about losing the weight after and I didn’t need to be.

my first little boy was born on july 19, 2012. IN FLORIDA. i wanted to die a thousand deaths.

after that i swore to my girlfriends, “my next one, i’m going to get pregnant in MAY so i’m not huge during the summer!” one of them chided me: “oh, so, you’re just gonna sit down with God and tell him what’s up, huh?” and i said, “YES. i’m in charge here.”

just found out i’m pregnant with my second one. due in june. pretty sure God is LOLing so hard right now.

hang in there! pregnancy heat is no joke. but it does go away. 🙂

I am SO with you on this heat business! I live about half an hour outside of Raleigh and am 27 weeks pregnant and W-H-E-W. I’m a normally “always cold” person but man, growing a baby does strange things to you! Yesterday it was 60 degrees out and I didn’t have a sweater or anything on – while everyone else in my office had jackets and such. Then I got up this morning and thought, “I don’t want to get sick so maybe I will wear a lightweight sweater” so I put on boots and a sweater and as soon as I stepped into work I was HOT. I’ve just been downing ice cold water to balance it out. =] Oh and another thing, I give you props for getting those boots on! Especially if they’re the pull up kind because I had a hard time just getting my socks on by myself this morning. =[

I had a September baby in Florida in 2009. Talk about hot…from May until, well now. I still keep our house at 73 at night. I would keep it at 60 if my DD would keep herself covered at night. It will totally be worth it all when you hold that precious little baby, but you already know this!

I’ve always run “cold.” I’m all about blankets and layers and sweaters. So my husband found it oh so hilarious when I was preggo that I wouldn’t even sleep with a sheet over me at night and the house could never be warmer than 72. Seriously. Within a few weeks of giving birth I was back to snuggling under the covers 🙂

You will go back to normal! You’ll get chills when it’s 70 degrees again! I promise! (At least that’s how it was for me…for all 3 pregnancies…once it was twins, and I lived in TX for that one, Holy Mother of Hot Days!) This season is amazing and awesome and quickly fleeting (pregnancy, that is, not NC heat…oh but wait, that’s fleeting too!) so remind yourself often to be awed and enjoy it! 🙂

I love navy and it looks so good on you Kate! Don’t fear, your body temp will return to normal once all of your hormones balance out. But a little fair warning for you: if you plan on breastfeeding your body will still be on hormone overload so you may still experience heat waves during the first couple months postpartum. Its not definite just possibility, everyone is different. But when you have an amazing bundle of joy in your arms all of that is far from your thoughts 🙂

A friend of mine had her baby in August of the hot summer you’re referring to, I assume. Two days later, she went outside for a short walk around the block with her husband. She turned to him and said something like “Oh, this cool front is so refreshing!” because her temperature had gone back to normal. And he looked at her like she was crazy…
