I most definitely went and bought a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks, brought it home to the a/c and drank it while wearing my new boots and a scarf. I am not used to living in a place where it’s still hot in September and I was feeling a bit out of sorts 🙂

3. I shed like crazy. It drives me nuts but I always have. I have a ton of hair. It was fully pointed out my junior year in college. My roommate was (and still is ) a dwarf. One day she exclaimed, “I’m so sick of your hair wrapping around my toes!” Oh, gosh, I was mortified. She is much lower to the ground and was grossed out. I don’t blame her. So, since then, I am more aware and if I’m sharing a space/bathroom with a friend, I’m hyper sensitive to pick up my shedding.

My sweet roommate. Love that girl and her honesty!

Thanks for the question about day-after styling! I have 3 kids, and always shower at night (I actually hot water that way) so that is one I’ve always been meaning to ask. I don’t blow-dry at night, though. Would you recommend dampening the hair and blow-drying in the morning? Thank you!

I have an instyler. My hair is long and curly. That thing is fantastical!! I clean my hair in the evening, let it dry with no product, and use the instyler in the morning. Curls are gone, shiny, no frizz, LOVE IT!

I love the armoire (is that what it’s called?) that’s in the background. Where is it from?
Thanks!
Stephanie

It’s from Ikea

Totally unrelated to the content of the video, watching it, the first thing I noticed was the armoire in the background. We have exactly the same one from Ikea. We basically have all the “Hemnes” Series for the living room… I love the style. Would buy it ever again.

I don’t know why you are disappointed? I picked questions that were universally interesting / asked frequently.

The InStyler IS a game changer for me. My hair is naturally wavy and extremely frizzy. I’ve tried every product and styling method under the sun with no success. Now, at age 53, with the InStyler I have silky shiny hair that does not frizz. I can even walk in the fog and the style holds. I wake up in the morning and my hair just needs a quick brushing and it looks just as good as the day before, just a little flatter. I had never before gone a day without washing my hair, but now I can. It is the most incredible product I have every used. I realize it may not be effective for everyone, but thank goodness I found it!

Could you please clarify the name of the woman who designed your phone case? It sounds on the video like her name is “January Most” but when I search the Society Six website for that name I come up empty.

Thanks, Riley.

Best FAQ yet — at least for me. So glad someone asked about shedding – haa haa. Yes, brushing before showering helps…and glad to hear I’m normal! 😉 Also, I wash my hair at night and pile it on my head with a clip then blow dry in the morning. The clip leaves a bit of a crimp-mark so do you think the “old school” scrunchies would eliminate that?? I’ve been searching for the “solution”!
Thanks so much for doing these — so informative!

I’m sure Kate will have a better answer, but I use Emi-Jay hair ties. They are made out of fabric, so they don’t leave as much of a dent–more natural looking for sure!

Lacey – thanks for your reply. 🙂 I have some of the wide elastic hair ties…never thought to try them! Thanks again!

I’m thinking that some people who shower the night before do not blow dry their hair before they go to bed, and although this is not necessarily the best method, it’s sometimes necessary! I think the question of letting your hair dry naturally was on last month’s too, and people were also wondering about products…

When I shower at night and need/want to let it air dry, I use Blow Pro’s Beach Blow Texturizing Mist. I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be used before blow drying (because it’s from blow pro), but this is the perfect product to leave wet because it doesn’t make your hair crunchy or too greasy without blow drying. Using this gives my hair some texture when I go to style it in the morning. When using this method I use second half of the “Natural Texture” hair tutorial in the morning! Works like a charm for me! Wavy and natural!

I do both! If I’m straightening my hair, I dry it and straighten a little before sleeping on it. If I’m wearing my hair curled the next day, I leave it wet at night (piled on my head). ;}
And I can’t imagine what a man would be thinking if he read through all of our “dilemmas”! Ha!

What kind of length are you growing your hair out to? I’m so excited about it, because I’ve been growing mine out for about a year now, and I’m hoping that you’ll have some nice longer hairstyle tutorials. I do have fun trying to do the ones that you already have though. Also– Do you think that with longer hair you should use a wider barrel curling iron?

“JenRamos” works much better than “January Most”. lol

Sorry to bother you again about your phone case. Could you post some pictures of how it fits the phone? Does the case extend above the face of the phone (so that if you laid the phone face down, the screen would be protected)? I love the SocietySix website. There are sooooo many choices.

Is your case slick, or does it have any tackiness to it? In the summer, I like the case to have a bit of tackiness so it doesn’t fall out of my pocket when I’m golfing. In winter that doesn’t matter so much. 😉

Love your blog. It’s one of two that I read every day. Thanks for what you do.

Great FAQ, Kate! I’m one of those showering at night kind of women, simply because I don’t have the time to shower, do my hair and get ready for work, while also getting my 3 year-old ready for daycare all in the same morning. It’s never going to happen. So I shower at night, let my hair air dry for about an hour and then add a little Aquage and blow-dry it. It’s then nice and ready for me to straighten in the morning and I typically never have any issues with volume. It’s what works best for me I guess.

Also, I love the colour of your lipstick in the video. Do you mind sharing what you’re wearing?
