I have a new favorite lip product. It's called Maybelline Color Whisper. It provides moisture along with a hint of color, that's layer-able if you want more depth. You know how their tagline is "maybe she's born with it, maybe it's maybelline." ? Well, it finally rings true. People may actually think you were born with this lip color. does the post title finally make sense? maybe she's born with the gift of writing witty titles, maybe it takes hours of terrible ideas until she settles on one.
I'd compare it closely to the Revlon Lip Butters, that I wrote about here, but with a lighter, less "waxy" finish. I wouldn't describe the Lip Butters as waxy, but compared to the finish of the Color Whisper lip color, they are heavier and more dense.
So far I've only tried "Pin Up Peach", which is a great pink-y nude. It's perfect for daytime wear, but can also be thrown on top of a lipstick for shine + pink finish.
The staying power is pretty much what you would think of when you hear about a sheer, lightweight product, so you'll definitely need to reapply after a few hours, but you won't have the uneven fading that may sometime happen with lipstick.

Complete side note : aren't those earrings just gorgeous? My stella and dot consultant Nicole sent them to me as a christmas gift. I've worn them several times and love them. Thanks again Nicole!
In other news, if you live in the area, I hope you can come to the private shopping event on Sunday evening at Loft in Streets of Southpoint Mall (Durham, NC)! The event goes until 9:00, and I'll be there offering style advice, suggesting some of my favorites, and eating some of the delicious cupcakes provided by Daisy Cakes!

I bought that exact color and it's beautiful. However, I don't like wearing it because it creates little vertical creases on my bottom lip. So when I smile all you see are these ugly vertical lines. This happens to me a lot with lipstick products so I never wear them. :( But I thought I'd try this and it did the same thing. I only wear glosses because of this. Any idea of how to fix this? I love this color and would really enjoy wearing it if it didn't create those creases. The color looks beautiful on you!
ReplyDeleteI love that color on you. I've been trying to find a drugstore lipstick that is still good quality and will check these out.
ReplyDeleteOk, I may have to go try that lip product. Thanks for the recommendation! By the way, I love that you cut bangs again. They are so pretty on you. I know they're a pain when you first cut them, but you'll get them trained in no time, and then they will be a breeze again.
ReplyDeleteI love the lip butter so I might have to try this one out! That color is perfect for you!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think I'll have to try this! And, I just went to Daisy Cakes website thanks to you...I live in NC as well. NTS- check them out next time I'm in Durham!

ReplyDeleteI cut them last week. I posted about it on Instagram. Find me at K8_smallthings
DeleteYeah when did you get bangs again?? Love them!
ReplyDeletelast week! thanks!
DeleteI've been looking for a nice lip tint for work, and my current balm with colour just isn't cutting it. I'm going to grab some today in my travels, I'm excited to try it!
ReplyDeleteI finally found some a few days ago, I got the peach as well and I absolutely love it! It's very dry where I work so this stays on me and is reapplied throughout the day with zero issues. Thanks for the rec!
DeleteGorgeous color. Looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteWish I could join you all on Sunday! Texas isn't TOO far from NC, right?! ;)

Great! Love this. You must have gotten your hair colored, it's brighter with caramel lowlights! Cute!
ReplyDeleteLove it.. especially since I wear chapstick or lip gloss!
ReplyDeleteI've been going back and forth over whether or not to pick a couple of these up. They sound like a great buy though!
ReplyDeleteLove your bangs! That always reminds me of Legally Blonde: I got bangs! My hair's so now!
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time with drugstore lip products because I hate the way they smell. Do you find that too? I think Revlon has a really bad smell, I just can't stand it. Haven't tried many of the others but after wasting some money on Revlon I stuck with what I know doesn't stink, Clinique.
ReplyDeleteYou got me hooked on the Revlon Lip Butters...I'll have to try these now.
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived in NC so I could come to the Loft event - it sounds like so much fun!
This seems to be a trend in the comments, but how I wish I could come to the event! WI is a little far away, and if blogger events like that happen here, I haven't found them yet! I'd love to meet people and shop.

First, LOVE the bangs. Second, I am currently obsessed with the lip butters out there. Love the subtle color but moisture that they provide. Thanks for reviewing this one for us!

ReplyDeleteHave you tried out the L'Oreal Colour Riche Lip Balm...the Maybelline packaging looks exactly like the L'Oreal one. I tried it when it first came out and have been totally and completely hooked, and haven't bothered trying the Revlon or new Maybelline one. Definitely thinking about trying it now, but would love to know how you thought it compared to L'Oreal!
ReplyDeleteLove that lip color I've been looking for something sheer but still noticeable :) so I will definitely have to try this!!
ReplyDeleteLoving the shorter bangs on you. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteYay! Your bangs are back ((:

it would mean a lot!!!
Just got this lip color and love how silky it feels on my lips. I used your homemade sugar and honey lip exfoliator before I tried it and I quit rubbing my lips together. They feel so soft and awesome. Love your bangs. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome, Kate!! Gorgeous as always!
ReplyDeleteI went three places tonight looking for it and couldnt find it in stl yet! Maybe I need to go to Ulta tomorrow night and see if they have it. I hate lipstick but cant wait to see if this one works.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great product; thanks for sharing. I bought it in Lust for Blush (25) and it is also really pretty.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a copy of Loreal's Color Riche lipbalm. I use that in Nearly Nude and I love it. It doesn't dry out my lips, makes me feel like it's a "my natural shade but better" and I don't mind reapplying it - it feels amazing! But, I'll definitely try this new peachy-pink color, looks great!

ReplyDeleteI love these maybelline whisper ones, but the L'Oréal color riche lip balms are better I think. The shade Rose Elixer is my 'my lips but better' shade! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for this recommendation! I was looking through some of your posts yesterday and stumbled on this one. I bought the color later when I went grocery shopping and I LOVE it! It's the best pink/peachy shade of lip color I've ever bought.
