So here’s the deal with these Loft jeans.
I love them. Like, really love them.
If you are in the market for new jeans, definitely check out Loft.
My favorite jeans of all time from J.Crew are a little bit too loose for me these days, so I had to size down at Loft (both a good thing, and a bad thing–my favorite jeans are just sitting in my closet!).
I love the flare style and the skinny style at Loft. The length is right, the wash is perfect, and the flare is just big enough without being too flared.
The skinny style is perfect for tucking into my boots, which is the only way I’ll wear skinny jeans. That, or folded at my ankles as “cropped” jeans. Skinny jeans + hips and booty = triangle body for me. . . and it ain’t cute.
When it comes to cuts, here is what I have learned:
The Curvy cut (Curvy flare or Curvy skinny) has a little bit more room for hips and “da booty”. If you are curvier, look for the curvy cut–I know, profound. It gathers a little bit more in the waist so you don’t have the dreaded gap at the top of your pants.
The Modern cut is narrower in the hips, so if you are hip-less, or simply smaller in that area, go for the Modern cut.
The sizes are pretty accurate, but do be aware that they stretch out slightly
These have become a staple in my wardrobe lately, and I’m glad that Loft is constantly running great promos or coupons because I haven’t bought a single pair at full price! “Like” Loft on facebook for updates and promotions, and become an “Insider” via e-mail. I can’t even count how many 40% off coupons I’ve heard of these past few months, which brings their denim down to under $50.00, typically.
Where is your favorite place to buy jeans?

Loft is one of my all time favorites. Even if something is pricey, within a week or two, it’s on sale. I shop them so often that my co-workers joking say, “Like your top/skirt/dress, it must be from the Loft!” And it usually is! I could use some new jeans, this give me hope! 🙂

I have that shirt and it is the most comfortable shirt I own! Here’s to hoping they make it in more colors soon.

I love Ann Taylor Loft Jeans; I have 6 pairs in my closet currently. I was a gymnast so I have muscular legs and there jeans fit great without making me feel like a guy or having to get 3-4 sizes bigger to fit my legs.

Bah ha ha… Just laughed out loud at your “this is not a sponsored post” disclaimer. Thanks for the chuckle this morning!

I’m looking for a pair of jeans right now, but I really want ones that come up a little higher to help hold in the baby pooch. Are there any you would recommend?

Gap long and lean jeans have a slightly higher rise. They’re my all time favorite!

I know this sounds awful but I recommend Not Your Mother’s Jeans (NYMJ) brand… I have found them on ebay for much less than they charge in the stores, and even Nordstrom Rack has them on sale sometimes. I’m short, curvy, and I appreciate that they come in different inseam lengths. Plus, whatever your size is, they keep it consistent across all their styles and cuts (even the skirts) so if you’re an 8 in one, you’re an 8 in them all and they’ll all fit.

I’ve heard a lot of great things about Loft’s curvy cut. So glad they make jeans for those of us with hips and butts! I will have to check them out! 🙂

I love my Buckle jeans. They’re a little pricy (about $90), but the customer service is great and I tried on a lot of jeans before deciding. They also hem them for you for FREE!

I still love Abercrombie, they fit me the best. So much that I almost don’t mind sizing up (their sizing is way off since they market to tweens) or the loud music and obnoxious cologne sprayed everywhere.

That was the best disclaimer ever. 🙂

You must have heard my public cry to the denim gods yesterday. Thought I would strike denim gold at J. Crew last night. They fit except… there was a gap so large in the back that I could put my hand down my pants. 🙁 I don’t even have a badonkadonk, and there was a gap. I’m going to rush to the mall on lunch to try on some LOFT jeans. Wish me luck!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Loft Modern skinnies. If you are looking for a very flattering pair of skinny jeans they are great! I actually usually gravitate to the “curvy” fits because I do have an hourglass figure, but I have found that they sometimes stretch too much and look saggy in the crotch area. The modern skinnies do not have tha problem and keep their shape so well! Go get some ladies. And just try on the modern skinny style even if you think you should get the curvy. You may be surprised!

those jeans are great. i’ve been wearing my skinnies for so long now it’s hard to switch to flare, but i love this look!

First of all, you are so pretty that you would look lovely in anything…skinny jeans, flared jeans, paper bag!

I have been a stay-at-home mom for years…translation: single income family on a strict budget. I cannot afford designer clothes, even with a coupon most times. I have learned to scour thrift stores, and I have found awesome, barely-look-worn designer jeans for $5.

Also, we have a terrific consignment boutique in town. They pretty much only take designer label clothing, and it must be in mint condition…nothing like the worn, button-less things you might donate to Goodwill. They have Loft, Ann Taylor, J Crew, Talbots, Calvin Klein, Liz, etc. in any number of items, including jeans.

So, I recommend looking for an upscale consignment store, or even learning to hunt through thrift stores. You can often find treasure there.

I’ve never tried Loft, but I’m a devoted fan of Gap Curvy jeans. They are always dependable. I have the same figure as you. Key, though: they also have stretch in them, so you MUST buy the same size smaller than you normally wear. Even if you try them on and think, Ethne, you’re insane. Trust me, you’ll thank me in the end. I’m not joking. You’re wasting your money if you don’t. Plus, who complains about wearing a size smaller?

Thanks so much for posting this! I went on their website looking at jeans a few weeks ago and wasn’t sure which fit to get. We have a loft about 30 minutes away from where I live, so it would be easier to just buy online. Now I know which fit to try out – and about the 40% off coupon (I’ll definitely pay attention to my emails from Loft more often!) Thanks Kate! 🙂

Right now my current fave is called Vigoss Studio, and I’m pretty sure they came from Nordstrom. I also like Banana Republic. I don’t have ANY skinny jeans because I haven’t found a pair that don’t bunch up like crazy on my legs. I also have a two year old, so I don’t exactly have a ton of time to spend at the mall.

A year or so ago I become a devoted fan to Levi’s Curve ID jeans. They have four options: slight, demi, bold, and supreme. I’m a bold — Before them I’ve never been able to find jeans that fit my butt and thighs that weren’t oversized in the waist. Levi’s similarly have regular discounts.

I LOVE the LOFT. Love love love. But I was actually there this weekend and they don’t have any non-skinny jeans in this season at all. The girls I talekd to said they don’t think they will get any either. They don’t have any online either. So weird. I was dissapointed because they are my go to jean as well.

NYDJ is my go-to brand because it stretches back so there’s no sagging behind. It wears like leggings. I haven’t had any luck with LOFT but I will give it another try.

I usually buy jeans at American Eagle. But lately I’ve been getting them at Forever21, even though their fitting is kind of weird sometimes! One day I’m going to reward myself with a pair of JCrew or Loft jeans!

I definitely have to try these out! I have the hardest time with jeans…5’0 with a cheerleader badonk means I wear a lot of leggings!

I just bought my first pair of Curvy Skinny jeans at the LOFT today and I LOVE them!!! Thanks for mentioning it! I am short and have been looking for the perfect length of skinny jean forever. I got to take advantage of the 40% off as well!

Major LOFT addict here, I love it! When you start seeing all those 40% off coupons, just wait a little longer because there is a 50% one just around the corner, usually only good for one day or half a day (so I have to take a long lunch break, LOL), it’s the only time I shop there now. And, if you shop on Tuesdays and have a LOFT card (could be a store card or their LOFT MasterCard) you get an extra 10% off your total after any other % sales have been taken off. Go forth and shop! 😀

I have curves similar to yours, but I’m also tall so the challenge of finding jeans is even harder! I recently discovered curvy jeans from the Gap and Banana Republic websites and love them. Bonus: they come in petite and tall sizes! They also have a variety of curvy fits.. from flare to skinny to boot cut. Like you, I always opt for flare or boot cut and would never ever dare to wear skinnies outside my boots! Love your blog – keep up the great work. 🙂

I’m pretty new to your blog, but I have yet to see you in a bad pair of jeans! They all fit you great! I recently bought some Hudson jeans, and I’m sad to say that they are horrible, they stretched in all the wrong places. I am very hesitant about buying jeans, so your review here is very helpful, and will definitely give it a shot.

All my pants used to be LOFT until I lost a little bit of weight. Then I decided to branch out a little bit. I’d still say LOFT is my favorite, but there is good stuff at New York & Company, Express, and Old Navy.

Have your favorite JCrew’s tailored to fit you better. I, too, am a thrift shopper and nearly everything I buy is from GW. I lost a lot of weight and would buy new jeans and then have to get rid of them. I buy Banana Republic, JCrew, Loft and lots of Michael Kors.

I’m a big fan of Loft jeans this season, and have purchased the Curvy Straight jeans in two washes…they are a great way to get the skinny look without cutting off my circulation! I’m curious though…how do the sizes compare between Curvy and the Flare jeans?

Kate my all time * favorite * pair of jeans is a pair of coveted Paige Denim Hidden Hills. They are absolutely the most flattering pair of jeans that I own ( hands down) with a close 2nd being a pair of 7 for All Mankind. Unfortunately for me, I am currently caught in the opposite situation that you are in as my favorite jeans are a fitting a bit too tight these days. : / Until I lose some of the extra flab around my belly, I am on a mission to find a pair of jeans that fit well, but that I’m not investing a lot of $ in at this time. I am definitely going to try the flared Loft jeans. The lines of the jeans look very clean & flattering. You look incredible. Thank you for the info!! : )

Hi! I just took advantage of the sale and got a ton of cute sweaters. I went in for jeans but wasn’t able to try on the curvy fit in store-the modern fit my hips but with room to spare in the waist/back gap. Do you think I should size down in the curvy since modern is cut narrow thru the hip? Or do you think the same size in curvy would be smaller in the waist?
