The Knot Ponytail

Today's tutorial is a quick and easy way to spice up a plain ponytail. And it can be done on straight or curly hair!

  1. So cute and easy! I always try to wrap hair around my poneytail and it never works. Love this alternative! Also nice to see you in your new place. :)

  3. My hair is epic fail when it comes to stuff like this. Both I and my hair are hair-tarded. But I just had to comment and tell you how ridiculously cute I think you are. All your hairstyles are so gorgeous!!!

  4. I love it! After I go to the trouble to curl and tease my hair, I'm usually reluctant to put it up! I think this video just changed my mind... I can't wait to try! Maybe I'll include it in my next outfit post. :)

  5. I'd love to see the hairstyles on straight hair. I feel like it always looks cuter with curled hair, but I don't have time to do that everyday.

    1. I agree with Tara! I have stick straight hair and even if I had the time (I don't) to curl it, it doesn't last longer than a half hour before falling flat. I also have no skills for teasing my hair. It just doesn't work. Do you have a good tutorial for that?

    4. Once you get it down you would be shocked at how quick you can curl your hair. I use the aquage that Kate recommends, blow dry and curl and I'm done in 15. My hair is fine so these styles look awful on me if I don't curl. You can see my scalp at every turn! But if I curl it first it works amazingly well. And I'm speedy now!

  9. Just came across your blog last week and LOVE it!! Thank you for the amazing tutorials from someone who is usually pretty darn "hair retarded" (meaning I can't usually do much with my hair at all)! You make it look so easy & i'm looking forward to trying many of your styles.
A quick question about the white sweater you're wearing in this post. You mention it is from Target & I'm wondering if it was purchased recently? It is super cute!
    Thanks again!!

  10. I haven't even watched the video yet, but I can tell from the photos I'm going to love this one. Thanks Kate!!! I agree with @Tara; would love to see some of these on straight hair, just to know how it's "supposed to" look. =)

  11. Oh! And if you wanted to do a little tutorial on how to talk to a stylist, that would be awesome. I feel like I never leave with what I went in for. I can't be the only one that happens to, right?? Last week's "trim," for example, was much shorter than I intended it to be. =(

    2. I asked for a "lob" in October. I think she thought that I literally meant "lob it all off," because I walked out with a bob. eeps!

How layered is your hair, since we see it wavy so much it's harder to see... can we see it straight!!

  23. Would you consider doing a review/tutorial using the Topstyler. I used mine today for the first time and the curl holds all day but I had a little trouble with the best order to use them (back to front or front to back). These curlers were rather expensive online but I bought my set at Bed, Bath, & Beyond and used one of their 20% off mailer coupons and got them for about $80.
