High Five For Friday

next
An Exciting Opportunity

This has been a good week. Busy, but good! We’ve had a lot going on recently and I was beginning to feel stressed and “spread too thin”.

I stuck a post-it note to the bottom of my computer screen a few weeks ago that said “Choose Positivity”. My “default” is to notice and focus on the negative, so it takes much more effort for me to be positive in certain circumstances. If the post-it note said “be positive”, well, I would probably just ignore it. BUT, I can choose positivity. So I will. And I have. That is all.

(who knows where that came from, just felt like I wanted to tell you)

I’m linking up with Lauren From My Grey Desk!

So let’s get into the 5 greatest things of the week!

1. We moved! and it’s great over here. The only thing I miss about our old neighborhood is my sister, but she moves closer to us on Sunday! We like living near each other and will take every opportunity we can, while we can

Grits was particularly excited about the move. Gravy? Not so much.

They’ve actually both adjusted quite well. I’m proud of my little boys.

2. Justin and I unpacked the entire downstairs, bedroom, bathroom and laundry room. I started on my office, which I was totally dreading, and only have a few more finishing touches to get it finished. Can’t wait to share photos here on the blog when I’m done!

Before:

After!

3. The Zoya + Birchbox Blogger Collection launched! And I am so so so excited about how the color “Kate” turned out. This was such a neat opportunity and I’m so thankful for everyone who voted and helped me win!

Coraline, Kate, and Belle are the three colors in the blogger collection.

4. I picked up this adorable little pinch bowl for kosher salt from Macy’s. It’s a part of the Martha Stewart line of cooking utensils. Pretty much love everything she makes.

Oh and it was on sale for about $3.99.

5. I started a new daily devotional thanks to a recommendation from my friend Allyson, called Comforts from the Cross. I’m only two days in, but I’ve really enjoyed it.

How was your week? Be sure to check out From My Grey Desk today–Lauren hosts this link up and there are tons of other High Five for Friday posts to check out!

Love that you are not afraid to share that you are pursuing more of Christ in your life with your HUGE audience on this blog. It would be easy to fall into the pressure of staying away from the topic of religion altogether on your blog since you have so many different followers. But – He is life to us, not religion, right?

Oh my goodness, I am going through the same devotional right now! I love it. A lady at my church gave it to me along with a book on Marriage (which is fabulous by the way) and one on parenting. It’s great, I think you’ll love it!

Would you mind sharing the titles of the books on marriage and parenting that were given to you? I’m always looking for good reading material on those topics. Thanks!

Thank you for the reminder to choose Positivity! I’m recovering from back surgery – 2nd major surgery in less than 6 months. It’s been a long road – this week has been the toughest for whatever reason – that reminder is going up on the bathroom mirror.
I love the salt pinch bowl.
I also appreciate that you do not shy away from talking about your walk with Christ. That was one of the things that initially drew me to your blog. Thank you! Adding that book to my reading list.

Love the positive Post-It idea. Just made one for myself and stuck it to my computer here at work (where sometimes it is extremely hard to be positive). Hopefully it will help me remember to choose to be positive in all things too. Happy Friday!

I have a card on my computer that says: Relieve stress…take a prayer break. Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything.

I love your nail polish! I am really hoping to bring home the win from Smashbox this week, winning and being able to partner with big brands does so much for our blog/vlog. We support the brands we love and it is so exciting to be recognized. Zoya and Birchbox are both great! BTW- I love your styling tutorials, I tend to focus on makeup more but your videos are great and inspire me to do more fun stuff with my hair. I pinned you on my VLOG board. Have a great weekend!

I just love that picture of your kitties! I showed my husband, and we both cracked up! This would definitely be our two cats if we were to move or take them somewhere together — if we could get them to be that close together without fighting!

And my Zoya Birchbox Blogger shades are on their way! Should be here my Monday – SO EXCITED!

Congrats on your move! I am moving in about a week to a new home and also have a cat, Max. Did you do anything special to make the move easier on Grits and Gravy? Any tips you can share? I am a first time cat owner (in a dog person world!) and never have moved with him before, he is a little over a year old. Have a great weekend!

Moving can be a major stresser. TGIF!!! Love the photo of the kitties, I am worried about them when we move. Only have to sell this house first! Have fun decorating and meeting new folks. I notice you have a mac, me too. Love mine a bunch. How do you get the clock to be so massive?

I am a new fan of your blog! A friend showed it to another friend of mine who ended up showing it to me! Now I’m hanging at your place every day! And I am so excited to see you are reading COMFORTS FROM THE CROSS! I Love that book and anything written by Elyse.

Wish we had a Macy’s–I have been looking for a salt jar like that in that color, or Tuscan red and can’t find it. Couldn’t find it on their website, either. Darn. On the upside, I received my Zoya Blogger Collection today and Kate is hands-down the best color!! My husband even liked it. I am wearing it next weekend to my friend’s wedding. :^)

Glad the move went well, and I’ve heard good things about that book! Elyse Fitzpatrick is a good author. 🙂 Enjoy it! I’ve only commented once or twice before, but I thought I would today and just agree with everyone else about how much I enjoy your blog and your hair tutorials! I just cut my hair last Saturday similar to yours and am liking it. Can’t wait to try your hair styles! 🙂

Kate ~ God led me to your blog last year in a moment of extreme homesickness! We were living abroad ~ Hong Kong to be exact ~ which meant with the 12/13-hour time difference, talking to my girlie friends about all the kinds of things you discuss on your blog was so challenging!. 🙁 However, I would awaken in the morning and find your blog post in my inbox. Joy truly came in the morning for me! Thank you for standing firm in and sharing your faith, being salt and light, and of course, for talking about the Small Things! Love the hair creativity and now share a subscription to Birchbox with my BFF thanks to you talking about and ‘lurving’ it! I plan to add the Elyse devotional to my list… Virtual hugs, Nicole

Your cats are so cute! I love the salt pinch bowl you found. I have an open glass ramekin I use, but I’m always wishing for something of a similar size with a lid. I’ll have to look for that at Macy’s next time I’m at the mall.
