Cookie Week: Peanut Blossoms

Hello!! My name is Rebecca and I blog over at My Girlish Whims. My blog is all about beading, crafting, and general life as a girl!

Every year at Christmas time, at least one person in my family makes peanut butter blossom cookies. Sometimes, they are the only cookie we get around to making, but we always at least get these made!!

The recipe we use  is falling apart and probably came from someones grandma, some Pennsylvania Dutch cookbook, or a church cookbook from back in the day.

Here's how to make them!

In a large mixing bowl, add 1 3/4 cups of flour.

Add a teaspoon of baking soda and half a teaspoon of salt.

Add a half a cup of sugar

And a half a cup of firmly packed brown sugar.

The recipe calls for shortening, but using a stick of butter works just the same.

Best ingredient: half a cup of peanut butter!! Also add one egg.

Add one teaspoon of vanilla...

and two tablespoons of milk!

Mix everything up until the dough is formed.

Scoop out cookies in the size of your choosing. The scoop I used was about a tablespoon, which yeilded approx. 30 cookies. If you want more use a little smaller scoop!

Roll the dough in sugar and cover all sides.

Place them on a cookie sheet, and bake for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees.

While you are waiting for your cookie to bake, you need to unwrap all of your Hershey Kisses! (or hugs) I made this extremely embarrassing  very informative video to show you how a trick of how to unwrap them fast!

Alright. Well. That was great. ANYWAY. After your cookies come out of the oven, put a Hershey kiss/hug in  the middle of each cookie while they are still warm.

Yes, they do taste as yummy as they look!!

Hope you are all enjoying the virtual cookie exchange! Thanks for having me here Kate :) Don't forgot to stop  by my blog and say hi!
