An addictive personality. Impulsive. Obsessed. All words that some use to describe the phenomenon that happens when a person gets hung up on something immediately. Either it's a new food. A new tv show. A new blog. Or for me, most anything. As soon as a new idea pops into my head. . .or I start doing something new. . .I want to abandon everything else and focus my entire being on the latest and greatest.
This can be a negative trait. I'm aware of that. But it keeps things interesting-so I just go with it.
Lately I've been doing a lot of cooking. Thank you Pioneer Woman. I have tried new recipes of hers, make some of the 'ol classics from growing up, and tried a few things of my own. My hubs is happy about this new-found love of cooking.
Of course, immediately, I needed needed to have a kitchen aid mixer. I could have saved up my monthly "fun money" for one, but that would have taken WAY too long. Plus, I'm saving for a new computer sooooo. . .fun money ain't so fun these days.
Thankfully I was raised in a home where the "gimmy nows" or "give me now" are both accepted and encouraged. A fond memory of mine is when a friend walked past my mother and said, "Mmmm....a banana creme pie sounds good right now. . .". This wasn't directly aimed at my mom, it just so happened that she was walking nearby. About 30 minutes later, guess what we had? A banana creme pie! Miracle of miracles.
So I decided to boycot cooking until I had the right utensils. Yes, you read that correctly. Right utensils. I decided that mixing by hand and kneading pizza dough on the counter was not good enough. Frankly, it was probably making my food taste bad. For my sake, and the sake of our unborn children, I needed better things (KITCHEN AID MIXER) in order to be a better cook. You are only as good as your tools, right?
Fast forward to a weekend trip with my sister visiting my mom. I walked in, she saw my face and said, "I think you need a kitchen aid mixer". What! Not really. But all I had to do was mention about, oh, 400 times that I really wanted one and sure enough, I was on the website placing the order.
I know what you are thinking. Spoiled Rotten. It sure seems that way. Until I tell you it was an early Birthday Gift. Very early in fact. About 4 months early. Oh well! I'm SURE that there is nothing else I'll want come June. (yeah right.)
So here is a photo shoot with the beauty that sits in my kitchen. Thank you Mom and Dad for one of the best birthday gifts EVER!
I chose a REFURBISHED Yellow Artisan Mixer. The price was amazingly cheaper than brand new Artisans, and it works perfectly.
(please ignore my beige on beige kitchen. We are renting. When we own a place, I can promise you that the kitchen will not be beige)
I also got the newest Scraper Paddle. That thing is a life-saver.
I've made so many things in this mixer already and it works beautifully. If you are in the market for one, or the "gimmy nows" just get to you, it is worthwhile. :)
